Mahogany LOX – BOOM

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) It would definitely be pop, with a little bit of sass and glitter.

Q) Who are some of your influences?

A) Mariah Carey, Spice Girls and LMFAO because of the happiness in their music. And definitely Beyonce!

Q) What is it about the song “Boom” that fans are connecting to?

A) They really like, “everything happens for a reason.” I see that often on my timeline on Twitter and I love that. “Everything happens for a reason” is one of my favorite quotes and for them to relate to it means a lot.

Q) How did you choose “Boom” as the first song you wanted to release?

A) I have a few songs and we were debating on which song to put out, but everyone would be still singing “Boom” when I left the studio. Even after working on the other songs, they would still be singing “Boom” or they would tell me, “It’s been a week and I’m still singing it.” That really stuck with me. Every time I heard it I would smile and people in the room would smile. So, I thought maybe we should go for it. I made it with my brother and it means a lot to me so I thought I would just follow my heart. Hopefully, people love it, too!

Q) What is your process like for song writing? Do you need music before the lyrics?

A) It depends. Usually, I will write the song first and then I’ll make a melody. When I first started writing, I didn’t know how to make music or play an instrument. So, I just kind of wrote poetry and turned them into songs later.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Yes and especially for “Boom” I had a lot to do with it. I wanted to make sure my vision was captured in the song and I got to be a part of everything. I had a say in what songs I liked and the breakdown I had a lot of say in. It was fun being a part of everything and make it work. I produced it with my brother Sky and it was so much fun!

Q) Who would be a dream collaboration for you?

A) I would honestly love to do a song with LMFAO. That’s a dream! I would love that. I’m working on it!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I love my LOXSmiths so much and it is so amazing that I can talk to them every day. I talk to people around the world and I think social media is a great invention. Who ever made it shout out to you because now you can be friends with people all over the world. Who doesn’t want that?!

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) They are doing an amazing job! They are making edits and hitting up radio stations and telling them to play “Boom.” They are telling their friends and family to listen to it. They have been doing so amazing that I don’t have to tell them anything. It’s great!

Q) What can fans expect from a live Mahogany LOX performance?

A) Lots of dancing and lots of sparkles and color. Maybe confetti…if the venue allows it!

Q) Your fans are known as LOXSmiths. What do they mean to you?

A) They mean the world! They mean everything to me! Without them, I wouldn’t be able to have my first single. They mean everything. I can’t even describe how much they mean to me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) I would like to say thank you. Thank you so much for being there with me and doing this with me. This journey is something we’re taking on together and I couldn’t do it without you. I love you very much!
