Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as “urban acoustic.” Some people say it’s a mixture of The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran, with singer/songwriter organic sounds mixed with rhythmic flares.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my biggest influences are Bruno Mars, Gavin DeGraw and Jason Mraz.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Where Did Summer Go?”

A) “Where Did Summer Go?” is about a relationship I was in a few summers ago and how it was the best time of my life, but just seemed to end out of nowhere. Her name is Summer.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the idea that everything good goes by so quickly is something all of experience; at least for me. The summertime is always my favorite season and going back to school in the fall always seems to be a letdown. [laughs]

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I usually like to have a title or an idea for a song first, but each song is really different. Sometimes the music can make me feel a different idea or the idea can inspire a different chord structure.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Alec Joseph performance?

A) Fans can expect a really energetic and upbeat show with lots of participation!!! I can’t wait to hopefully be back on the road very soon!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I think there is something unique about every city that I’ve played in before. Each place means something special to me, and every time I go back, I get that same amazing, distinct feeling.

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) There will definitely be lots of new music coming soon! We don’t have an exact plan yet, but lots of exciting new music is coming very soon!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Rihanna. Ever since I had a crush on her in 6th grade. I’ve wanted to write a song with her.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to a lot of The 1975. Their music is very vibe-y and it’s gotten me more adjusted to the LA life, where I recently moved for college.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is very important to me because it allows me to stay in touch with my fans every second of the day. Seeing their comments and pictures everyday makes me so happy and their support means everything to me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I want to say thank you for being on this journey with me. It’s just the beginning and I can’t wait to see where we can go!
