All For One Recap: Episodes 12-14

If you’re like me, you’re probably still recovering from last week’s episodes of All For One. I honestly didn’t know how the writers were going to mend my broken heart after Episode 11, but once again I’m left in awe of their capabilities.

After Alex (Alejandra Simmons) and Miller’s (Dan Mousseau) heart to heart, all seems to be going well as they’re joined by the rest of the crew to scheme and put Rick in his place once and for all.

Meeting one of many my love, one of many.

The episode opens with Alex pacing the room in her usual state of distress until she’s finally persuaded to sit down and relax. Meanwhile, Dorothy (Gwenlyn Cumyn) throws all sorts of shade towards Alex as she takes a seat next to Miller. In the background, you’ll find Portia (Claire Gagnon-King) being super adorkable while she plays housewife by serving everyone drinks and provides some much need humor to help break the tension.

Things take an interesting turn as Alex suggests a smart, yet risky idea to catch Rick redhanded. She suggests bugging his office, which everyone responds enthusiastically to, everyone except Dorothy of course.

Did it just get a little dim in here or is it just the shade Dorothy’s throwing?

While Alex hands out assignments to everyone, Dorothy asks for hers. The jealousy in her voice is not lost on us, but she’s then tasked with the lame role of back up for Portia and Ariana (Angie Lopez). Instead of taking her assignment and being a team player, Dorothy calls Alex out and asks, “What happens if you slip up?” The tension is so real, but Portia once again is there to break it.

Cut to Alex at the helm, walkie talkie in hand as she beings operation bug Rick’s office. As everyone phones in to let her know they’re in place, it’s pretty obvious that Dorothy is the least enthusiastic of the bunch and really can you blame her? She hasn’t had any closure or insight to the issue since Miller’s persona has been revealed and it doesn’t seem like she’ll be getting that anytime soon, at least not with douchecanoes running around. The tension between Dorothy and Alex isn’t just apparent amongst their University friends, but with The Inseparables as well. As Alex put it, “It’s an unusual situation.”

The conversation gets a bit heavy when we learn that after Miller’s parents passed away, he opted to run away instead in lieu of being placed into a foster home. We also learn why Alex thought he was going to die, some of The Inseparables accuse Miller of being abusive for telling Alex that he’d rather die than be without her, but Alex quickly comes in to his defense.

Miller was in a bad place and instead of bashing him like she should, Alex protects him and defends his decision even when he comes under fire from some of The Inseparables (which in this day and age, is a pleasure to see). What I love most about this scene is how realistic it is as you hear one piece of information and suddenly you think you know the true story. I love seeing the banter between The Inseparables amongst themselves and with Alex. Audiences truly get to see a spectrum of reactions that not only entertains, but adds to the storyline itself.

Your face says it all.

Then, of course, my heart breaks as the final seconds are of the team conversing via walkie talkie. We get some cute Portiana, followed by Miller trying to sweet talk his girlfriend who quickly shuts him down calling him a dope.

Episode 13 starts off with action, literally, in the form of some awesome swordplay action brought to you by Ariana and Miller. The team celebrates successfully planting a bug and hacking into Rick’s offices, allowing them full supervision. While Dorothy fills The Inseparables in, Alex finally bites the bullet and decides to talk to Dorothy, woman to woman. What should be a sweet heart to heart turns into a cringeworthy awkward moment when Dorothy realizes her subtly is not so subtle.

Say you’re fine one more time Dorothy. Seriously. Also sword fights.

Once the two finally get over the awkwardness, Alex calls a truce and hugs it out rather awkwardly with Dorothy. Dorothy tells Alex she understands and despite her and Miller’s history, it was in the past and right now she’s more concerned with their friendship since she’s never really had that, minus The Inseparables of course.

YAY FOR BEING UNCOMFORTABLE!

Dorothy tries to play it off rather cool, but it’s still pretty obvious she’s harboring some sort of jealousy. You have to give a girl some credit for trying. Their conversation gets a bit deeper as Alex being her usual mom self gives Dorothy some advice. “Just, you know, be careful. Miller seems, like, amazing, the perfect guy. But Anton? He wanted to set the world on fire. Literally.”

You can tell Dorothy isn’t exactly sold on Alex’s advice and the playful Miller sword fighting in the background probably isn’t helping Alex make her case, but you can tell she’s being a genuine friend. She doesn’t want to see Dorothy hurt. Dorothy plays it off all nonchalant, calling Alex, “mom” – something she typically doesn’t do which to me it just screams defense mechanism. But in any case, they seem to be on good terms and that’s all that matters…for now…because Alex joins in on the sword play and that is all I care about, next to Portiana kisses, and drumroll please…Connie (Linnea Currie-Roberts)!

The roommate surfaces after being busy with her life as sorority girl and her and Dorothy take to the Internet to set the record straight (pun intended). They, under no circumstance, will not be getting a roomie divorce (fandom you may rise).

Well played Hollis, well played.

Connie voices her concern that she still thinks that Dorothy should let the Rick thing go and stick to more, “by the book,” scheming, but that’s neither here nor there. Their conversation is interrupted by a call from Monty. Dorothy with wavering eyes asks how the long distance relationship is going and Connie’s response almost has me convinced that she’s happy, almost.

Connie asks about Miller and Dorothy’s response…Well, let’s just say my prior statement works in this regard as well. While Dorothy gives Connie the quick recap of her life the past few days, she leaves to go return Monty’s call and when she’s out sight Dorothy gives the all clear and the rest of the gang comes back into the main room.

While the Sigmas take to the background, Miller swoops in to chat with his girlfriend where he takes Dorothy (and I’m fairly sure the entire audience) by surprise, when he says that it’s okay for Dorothy to still have feelings for Connie. Our lead is stunned and not too convincing might I add, but Miller just keeps going. “I’m just saying it wouldn’t be weird. Come on, she shot you down, you live together and she’s nice and totally hot.”

I still don’t really know how to feel about this. Keeping Alex’s words of advice in mind, I can’t tell if this is Anton or Miller talking. Needless to say, there sure as hell isn’t a lot of talking that goes on shortly after. Cue a dance break and just when Dorothy thinks Miller’s being cute and is going to ask her to dance he asks Alex instead. Connie makes her return and notices Dorothy’s change in demeanor. She quickly swoops in and cheers her roomie up, offering her hand instead.

Every party has a pooper and that’s why we invited you! NO. Dorothy go dance!

The screen goes dark and suddenly Alex is back on, but this time under suspicious conditions. While the others are sleeping, Alex is in front of the computer asking The Inseparables to keep an eye out on Dorothy. She feels that something is off and I’m not going to lie, I’ve felt it, too. I trust Miller as far as I can throw him and the fact that Alex is even suspicious of her former flame is enough proof I need.

Trust no one.

The final episode from last week we get a sneak peek into some of the footage that Dorothy and the gang have collected on Rick and Rochefort (Damien Doepping). Apparently it’s possible for things like age-old threats and overalls (sorry Dor) to make a comeback. While Ariana thinks that Rochefort is majorly crushing on Rick and dropping jokes every second she can, Miller isn’t having any of it and instead is focusing all his efforts on a new plan…and not on his cousin who he thinks of as a little brother.

Screen Shot 2016-04-03 at 11.01.09 PM

Awkward tension is the name of the game.

Miller calls Alex out, stating her plan just isn’t working. Alex ready to rebut, is interrupted by a message from Anne, taking her away. She makes it very clear though before she leaves that the team in no way should make any asinine moves until they’ve fully thought it through.

Once Alex is gone, Ariana, Miller and Dorothy plan away while Portia remains hesitant on the sideline. While Portia is one to be quite vocal in previous episodes, I noticed her taking more of a background role this week. I watched the episodes a few times through and I have to say that Claire Gagnon-King’s acting in this episode adds such an element to each scene. While it’s one thing to act with lines, it’s another to act without. Whether it’s the quirk of a brow or the way she purses her lips while she watches Ariana go against Alex. You can tell that deep down Portia isn’t truly onboard with them meticulously waits to pick her battles.

So, the new plan is derived and this time it’s to take Rochefort out and make him look compromising to Rick – because what better way to take down a villain than by going through his right hand man, right? Let’s hope so.

Dorothy trying to remember where she bought her overalls.

Despite the fact that Rochefort is Miller’s cousin, he thinks he’s in serious need of a reality check. It’s here that Portia speaks up reminding everyone that Alex doesn’t like the idea of isolating Rochefort from Rick, but Miller’s quick to rebound dismissing anything Alex has to say or think. Portia speaks up again and when The Inseparables ask why Alex has concerns it’s not Miller who responds, but Ariana.

I feel for Portia as she’s the voice of reason, but she’s overwhelmed by everyone in the room (her girlfriend included) and The Inseparables. Dorothy considers this a unanimous vote and Miller rubs his hands together with a devilish grin. Why do I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well? Oh, probably because it’s not going to.

The plan is set, all they need now is someone to take point and set the plan into motion. Ironically enough all eyes turn to Portia.

I heart Portia.

She’s sweet, innocent and no one will have seen this coming. Now, while I agree that having Portia play bait is quite genius, I’m a little disappointed in the role Ariana is playing in this. It is so clear that Portia wants no part in this yet here we are pushing her to join the bad or take the red pill as one might say (nice tribute there guys)! After more coaxing from Dorothy, Portia reluctantly agrees and the episode comes to an end.

It’s been quite a whirlwind of emotions the last few episodes and I’m sure it’s only bound to continue from here. I don’t know about you guys but I’m excited to see how Alex takes the news and I’m sort of rooting for some Portiana angst after what Ariana just pulled with her girl.

Who knows what will happen but there’s only one way to find out! Tune in for new episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:30 PM EST. As well always, be sure to subscribe and keep an eye out for bonus features, like Periscope interviews and more goodies from KindaTV! See you next week!
