Episode Six finds Holden (Burkely Duffield) and Willa (Dilan Gwyn) in Arthur’s (Alex Diakun) house where Holden just destroyed the machine that can take people to the Realm. Willa, still shocked he broke the machine, wonders why he did it. Holden says that he thinks it’s too dangerous to go back and that they don’t belong in that place. He wants them to be together, but in the real world. Willa notes it’s more complicated than Holden is making it out to be. Holden thinks she’s over reacting and leaves, but before departing tells Willa when she uncomplicated it she can come find him.

Holden is back at his home mowing the front lawn when he has a flashback to holding hands with Willa. He gets out his phone and calls her, but thinks for a moment and hangs up. Holden finishes up mowing and goes inside for a drink. His mother Diane (Romy Rosemont) asks if he’s okay as it seems he voluntarily mowed the lawn any kid who does that has something wrong. Holden notices that his mom is getting dressed up and asks where she is going. Diane says she’s headed to church and then questions Holden about when he’s going to finish his high school equivalency test. Holden suggest that maybe he should start with getting his driver’s license. His mom thinks about is a bit and seems on board with it.

Willa is still by Arthur’s side. She talks to him about how he hid the fact that his and her enemy was Arthur’s old lab partner. A flash back reveals Isaac Frost (Martin Donovan) and Arthur in a lab. Isaac is sitting next to a woman on a hospital bed. This is Celeste (Lara Gilchrist). Isaac and Arthur argue about the tests they can do to save her from dying.

In a forest, Jeff (Jeff Peirre) and Holden are talking as Jeff readies a machine gun. Holden listens, but is obviously lost as Jeff goes on about conspiracy theories involving the CIA. Jeff reaches for a folder and hands it to Holden. In it is picture of Tess (Erika Alexander). Jeff tells Holden that Tess is part of the leadership of a group called Hollow Sky. Holden doesn’t know how she fits into anything until Jeff says that her signature is all over the hospital release forms for the Man in the Yellow Jacket. Jeff tells Holden that he went back to the man’s house but it was empty. Jeff says this is because they are getting close to uncovering something. Jeff goes on to tell Holden he wants who ever killed his brother to die. Holden, seeing how this is going too far, gets up and leaves. Jeff chases after him trying to convince him to keep digging into Hollow Sky with him. Holden still doesn’t look convinced to keep working with Jeff.

Holden is in the DMV taking his driving test and when a question has an answer saying “YOU CAN’T RUN FROM THE MISSION.” Holden is freaked out by this and looks around to see if anyone else sees this happening. He hears someone on the other side of the table ask if everything’s ok. The girl on the other side of the table starts to give Holden the answers to the driving test. He fills out the test until she pokes her head over the dividing test boards and we see that it’s Charlie (Eden Brolin). She asks to talk to Holden, but he is already stressed out by the test and tells her to leave him alone. Charlie is determined to talk with Holden gets up and pulls the fire alarm.

Outside the DMV Holden is walking to the parking lot with Charlie next to him talking his ear off. She tells him that she knows who he is, but does he want to know who she is. Holden says no and Charlie seems a bit disappointed. But she goes on to say how she would have loved to talk with Holden about being in the Realm. This gets Holden’s attention.

Luke (Jonathan Whitesell) is in college when he walks into the dean’s office where he finds his girlfriend looking ashamed. She leaves and Luke enters the office. The dean explains that someone ended up in the hospital because of drugs that were given to them. Luke says he doesn’t have anything to do with that, but the dean opens a folder and says there’s enough testimony to expel Luke from college. She gives Luke the option of telling her who gave out the drugs or gets expelled from school. Luke sits in the office thinking about what he is going to do.

Holden and Charlie are walking down the sidewalk in town. Charlie tells Holden that she was in coma for four years and woke up with powers. Holden asks what she remembers from the Realm and Charlie casually lists off that she remembers like dark jungles, cities of glass and long ice bridges. Charlie explains her powers and how she can see the world in numbers and probabilities. To prove this she makes a little girl let go of a balloon, which sets off a series of events that eventually cause a car crash. Holden, shocked at how she did that, asks how she knew no one would get hurt. She just says she knew no one was going fast enough to get hurt in the crash. Charlie tells Holden that she showed him hers so now he has to show her his.

Holden leads Charlie to a car salvage yard. He tells her to back off so when he uses his powers she doesn’t get hurt. Charlie backs up and Holden kneels down and punches his hand into the ground, but nothing happens. Charlie looks around and asks if she missed it. Holden, confused, tries again but has no luck. Charlie asks what was going on when his powers worked Holden tells her that he was angry at the time. Charlie comes up with a plan to make his powers work. She goes up to Holden and punches him in the face. Holden is confused and urns to her and is about to ask why she did that until she punches him again. Charlie is about to punch Holden for a third time when Holden catches her hand and with a small push the glass on the cars around him explode out and sparks fly from the car lights. Charlie is impressed now. Holden looks at Charlie’s head a notices she’s bleeding. Charlie feels It, but still doesn’t seem mad.

Luke and his dad Tom (Michael McGrady) are carrying his stuff from Luke’s dorm to their car. Luke and his dad agree that they won’t tell Diane why Luke is leaving. Tom tells Luke that he’ll just say Luke wanted to be closer to Holden, but while at home Luke will have to get a job to pay back the lost tuition. Luke agrees and they get into Luke’s car and go home.

Holden and Charlie go to Holden’s house. They walk in, but find the house empty. Charlie makes herself at home by going straight to the kitchen.   While there Charlie spots some cookies on the counter and helps herself. Holden asks if she wants to see his room. Up in Holden’s room Charlie is sitting in his bed while Holden gets some rubbing alcohol to clean her wound. Charlie asks if Holden has a girlfriend. He explains that he did, but it’s complicated. Charlie walks about the room and looks at Holden pictures. He watches her for a bit and asks her to stay for dinner. Charlie gets a call from Tess, but hangs up. She then turns to Holden and agrees to stay for dinner.

That night Diane is happily embarrassing Holden as she shows Charlie old baby pictures of Holden. Charlie is having a great time. Diane brings over dinner. It’s a huge bowl of food and Charlie jokes she’s goanna move in.

Tom is at a bar eating nachos when Jeff pulls up a seat next to him. Jeff slips Tom a folder of pictures, which are of Holden and his family. Tom freaks out and asks where he got these. Jeff explains that the people that killed his brother had them. Tom seems interested and decides to talk with Jeff. Jeff tells Tom everything that he and Holden know. It seems he is trying to bring Tom on board with investigating Hollow Sky. Tom has lost interest though so he gets up and leaves.

Holden is handed a piece of paper outside of the DMV and looks thrilled. He just got his driver’s license. His parents are there and have bought him a new truck. It’s not new, but it’s not old. It’s Holden’s first car and he loves it. His mom tells him to use it to take Charlie out on a nice date. Later that day, Holden does just that. He and Charlie pull up to a small lake and set up their fishing gear. Holden is playing with some string as Charlie is waiting for a fish to bite. As they sit there fishing, Holden tells Charlie a story about a telescope he wanted to visit in Colorado but never got to because he went into a coma. Holden then asks Charlie to tell a story and she goes on to tell Holden how she went into a coma. When Charlie was younger she jumped from the second story of a house while trying to kill herself. Holden is a bit shocked by this and asks why she jumped. Charlie tells him that she didn’t have a happy childhood, but before it gets more depressing than that she feels a fish bite and excitedly reels it in. Holden grabs it and throws it back in after congratulating Charlie. Charlie is confused by this and asks why he did that. Holden tells her it never was about catching a fish and that it was about just spending time with one another. Charlie, realizing that she really does like Holden, tells him everything about Tess sending her to find him and trying to bring him in. Holden, mad to hear this, tries to leave yet Charlie stops him and tells him she doesn’t want to work for Frost or bring Holden in because they actually get each other and she doesn’t want to hurt him. She asks if he would want to go to the telescope in Colorado and Holden seems ecstatic to go.

Willa is visiting a strange man she has been emailing for a while. He was one of the lab assistants to Arthur and Frost. He tells Willa about the woman Celeste and how Frost loved her. Willa starts to put things together in her head and realizes that Frost was her father and that meant that Celeste was her mother. It’s revealed that when Celeste was in a coma she went to the Realm herself, but when she woke up from it she ended up dying. Frost and Isaac’s research from then on was to travel to the Realm to see people who have died.
