Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as my own version of pop. This first EP (Part 1) of 2 Parts this year really re-introduces me as an artist to my old fans while still relates to new fans as well. Sunny production, thick beats, powerful vocal and relatable lyrics are some of the key elements in my new songs.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I take influences from artist of all different genres. Amy Winehouse, Meghan Trainor, Troye Sivan, John Mayer, Lake Street Dive and HAIM. Each person from each style of music is definitely brought into my music in some type of way.

Q) After vocal surgery, how did you rekindle your creativity and decide to give singing another shot?

A) To be completely honest… it was very hard. I didn’t have to rekindle my creativity as much as I did my confidence. And my creativity was inspired by the hardships I encountered while watching the industry from the sidelines. I had to be patient and wait to see if I would officially completely heal. I didn’t want to let any of my family or fans down.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “One Day.”

A) I wrote “One Day” about me always telling myself that “One day I will put new music out and completely be 100% healthy again…” And I kept waiting for that day where I could grasp my confidence again. I had good vocal days where I felt unstoppable and had so much confidence and then late night thoughts on other days that would come when I was feeling extremely vulnerable saying to me, “You’re dreaming too big Bianca!” This song is an anthem for all of those people who can relate to those moments. And to keep striving for that “One Day.” Because your “One Day” is not as far away as you may think! Stay positive!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think people want to be inspired. There’s something about the song that I think is really motivating people. All my friends are telling me that they are jamming in on their way to hustle at work, on their way to record some music or at the gym! It’s a perfect car jamming song to hype you up before you are about to do something! [laughs]

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I usually start with a lyric concept that I can’t get out of my head. Most of my ideas come to me when I’m just driving around enjoying scenic environments. And those lyrics usually turn into a catchy hook. I usually start with the hook first. Then, I fill in the rest of the song. Once I write the hook, I usually start to create a reference track for it to bring to a major producer. Then, they really help me bring the music to life. I also write to tracks sometimes as well, but my best work usually just starts with me coming up with a lyric and melody acapella and then adding music.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Bianca Ryan performance?

A) I will be performing at the Fourth of July parade in my hometown Philly! Super excited! I will be performing new music finally! YAY!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love performing at Pennslanding in Philly. I remember when I performed there with Keke Palmer and Demi Lovato. Jingle Ball was also really cool. I almost fainted when I met Nick Lachey there the one year. My dad was like, “Calm down!” [laughs] And, of course, I love performing in Japan! I’m part Japanese and I have a really big fan base over there so it is always a blast to go over there and perform for everyone!

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) Part 1 will be coming out July! I have a Part 2 that will release later this year!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to do a song with The Chainsmokers or Zedd. They have been killing the game, everything they produce lately is fire! Working with them would be a dream.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to a lot of Halsey, Birdy, Lorde, Janelle Monet, HAIM and just trying to get updated with the music of today and keep writing for Part 2 that’s coming later this year!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) For me it’s the quickest way to get in touch with my fans. I update my whole life on Snapchat and my Instagram story. [laughs] (Yes! I’m that person! [laughs]) I love to broadcast live and keep all of my fans updated with what I am doing at that very moment! I guest video fans on my broadcasts and let them ask me questions or sing a tune for me, which is always really cool hearing questions and the talent my fans have! I even know many of my fans by name, which is so important to me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would love to tell you thank you for sticking around for so long and supporting me all of this time. It means the world to me! And I’m so glad everyone is enjoying the new single! This year is going to be the greatest yet and I am just incredibly honored to finally be breaking out of this shell of my past and sharing all that my mind and soul have wanted to share with everyone for so long through my music. Stay tuned! And make sure you follow me on all of my socials so you won’t miss a beat!
