Gunmen invade a facility before Keith Rhodes (Malcolm David Kelley) heroically bursts in, identifying himself as FBI.  He attempts to fire his gun, but finds that he doesn’t have any bullets. He calls out to the set, revealing that the scene is part of a movie. As the crew sets up for the next shot, Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) criticizes Keith’s handling of the gun.  He shows him how to properly shoot a gun, and introduces himself to the Director (Sean Kenin) as the film’s new FBI consultant.

Eight hours earlier, Weller gets a call from Roman (Luke Mitchell), who requests another favor.  Weller yells at him for revealing that Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) has a daughter and that her search for the daughter will reveal the events of Berlin.  He warns him that Jane’s discovery of the truth will destroy her, but Roman believes that it will destroy her love for Weller.  Roman warns him to stop Jane’s search, and asks him if he likes movies.

Weller shows Patterson (Ashley Johnson) a magazine with Keith’s face on it, explaining that he found a tattoo clue inside.  Patterson questions why he would read an entertainment magazine, and Weller lies that he read it at the dentist’s office.  He shows her that a picture of the logo of Keith’s production company is similar to one of Jane’s tattoos.  Patterson asks why Roman would care about a film production company, and Weller suggests that the film production might be a front for another operation.

Patterson and Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) show Weller and Jane the evidence against Eleanor Hirst (Mary Stuart Masterson), and Patterson explains that she believes that Stuart was murdered for getting too close to the truth. Jane assesses that Roman’s endgame is for them to bring down Hirst, and Patterson and Zapata inform them that Edgar Reade (Rob Brown) refused to believe the evidence.  Zapata insists that Reade is innocent, but they are worried that he will try to block the investigation or will be taken down with Hirst.

In Barcelona, Santiago (Miquel Fernandez) hands Roman a file tracking every move of Blake Crawford (Tori Anderson).  Santiago asks Roman for information about himself, but Roman replies that he didn’t pay him for that.  Patterson tells the team that the Russian film production company came out of nowhere, and Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) invites himself on the case, telling them that he knows pop culture better than they do. Patterson finds that the tattoo points to a paparazzi photo of Keith with Niko Popov (Misha Kuznetsov), a notorious terrorist, and Hirst tells them that Niko doesn’t leave Russia unless he’s scouting an attack.  Rich pulls up a picture of Keith in Manhattan with Niko in the background.

The team speculates how to talk to Keith without alerting Niko of the FBI’s suspicions, and Rich suggests that they go to set as consultants for Keith’s FBI movie. On set, Keith is grateful for Weller’s expertise and tells Weller that they can talk more at lunch. Booky Bentley (Paul F. Tompkins) introduces himself to Weller as the film’s producer. Patterson and Zapata tell Jane they need to rescan her tattoos privately to prevent tampering.  Jane reminds them that they need to get the metal tool that activates her new tattoos out of the facility, and Zapata promises to take care of it.

Jane asks Patterson to call off the search for her daughter, and explains that she doesn’t want to ruin the girl’s life.  Patterson argues that she may be searching for Jane, but agrees that it’s Jane’s decision.  Weller watches Keith film a fight scene where the enemy sticks defibrillator paddles to his chest. Keith convulses on the ground, and Weller realizes that the attack was real.  Blake approaches Roman, believing that he’s Tom Jakeman.  She asks why he’s in Barcelona, and he explains that he’s visiting the cities his late friend intended to visit.  She offers to give him a tour of the city, and tells him that she’s not taking no for an answer.

Weller calls Reade, as he watches Keith get wheeled into an ambulance, suggesting that Keith’s attack and Niko’s presence are related.  Keith proclaims that Weller saved his life, and Weller comes up with a way to bring him to headquarters without arousing suspicion. Weller gives Keith a tour of headquarters, and Keith gushes about their real heroism.  As Weller introduces Keith to the team, Rich excitedly introduces himself as a huge fan.

Jane and Weller show Keith the interrogation room and he is excited to learn about the interrogation process. Jane shows him the picture of him with Niko, and he realizes that he is the one being interrogated.  Keith tells them that Niko is just a film buff, but Weller explains that his movies’ production company is a front for a terrorist group. Jane shows him his magazine interview, where he criticizes the company for their budgetary moves, asking if he still believes his attack was an accident.

Keith tells them that Booky was having financial problems until he got some Russian investors, who had very specific demands of where they filmed and production of the films. Zapata tells the team that the cities that Keith mentioned are locations of weapons plants, and that the weapons are transferred to nearby cities for Niko’s terrorist attacks. In a warehouse, Niko opens boxes containing explosives for an attack on New York. Booky confronts Niko about his attack of Keith, and he tells him that he was talking to the press. He asks Niko what he’s really moving in the boxes, but Niko tells him to stay out of his business or he’ll find someone else to invest in.

Keith tells the team that Booky records all of his conversations for leverage and stores them in an office safe. Jane assures him that no safe is a problem for Patterson, but Keith tells them that the safe is unlocked with random voice prompts. Patterson admits that it might be a problem, but Rich makes a suggestion. Roman and Blake walk through the city, and talk about wine pairings. She tells him that her dad is a big wine guy who caught her sneaking a bottle into her room when she was fourteen and made a joke about it. Blake asks what his family is like, and Roman says that it’s different than hers.

At Booky’s studio, Jane and Rich wait for a meeting and Rich admits he’s nervous for his first movie pitch. Booky arrives and Rich pitches a vague story idea to him while Zapata tells Booky’s Assistant (Iris Beaumier) that she hit Booky’s car to pull her away from her desk. Weller and Patterson sneak into Booky’s office, and Patterson tells him that Jane called off the search for her daughter. As Patterson works on breaking into the safe, she tells him that she found a potential lead and feels bad keeping it to herself. Weller asks her to give it to him to investigate.

Rich continues with an elaborate pitch about a girl coming to America while Weller gives Rich the words that are prompted on the safe. He first gets Booky to say the word “Excalibur,” but struggles with the word “Poodle Skirt.”  Once he gets Booky to say the word, Weller tells Rich that the final word is “Butterscotch.” However, Booky gets tired of Rich’s nonsensical movie pitch and announces that he’s leaving. Jane grabs him as he leaves and gets him to say the word. The safe opens, and Weller grabs the recordings before Booky returns. Roman and Blake nearly kiss, but a masked man steals Blake’s purse and points a gun at them. Roman attempts to fight him but they roll down steps and the masked man runs away.

As they search for the weapons on set, Weller denies Rich’s request for a gun and tells him to go with Jane while Keith stays with him. Reade informs Hirst of their progress and asks her about her previously unrevealed connection to the Loewe case. She tells him that it’s been years since she spoke to Loewe and that she didn’t feel it was necessary to disclose. As they walk, Rich tells Jane that he overheard her conversation with Patterson about her daughter. He tells her that his pitch was inspired by her search for her daughter, and tells her that she deserves a happy ending.

Blake checks on Roman, and tells him that he shouldn’t be alone when he’s recovering from a concussion. He brings up the wine story of her father, and she tells him that he ignored her two months after the incident. Roman thanks her for everything, and she tells him he was amazing before kissing him. Patterson tells Zapata that she’s close to finding where Niko is storing the weapons while Zapata shows Patterson a storage device disguised as a flask that can help them smuggle the tattoo revealing metal out of the office. Reade bursts in and tells them to drop the Hirst investigation.

Patterson gets the results of the voice analysis and tells Weller which set the weapons are stored in. Weller tells Keith to stay outside as he, Jane, and Rich enter the building. They arrive to find that the weapons are already gone, and Keith runs in after them. Keith is shot as several terrorists shoot at them from warehouse vantage points. Weller and Rich tend to Keith’s wound as Jane chases one of the terrorists. Jane corners the terrorist in one of actor trailers and knocks him out. She pulls out a card from his pocket and tells Weller that it’s a vendor permit for a big city festival.

After checking the permit, they figure that the plan is to smuggle the weapons to the festival through food carts. Weller and Jane run to the prop building and duck behind a car as they observe the carts being rolled out. They see Booky yell at Niko about the chemical weapons and Weller yells out to them. Niko starts shooting at them and they duck into the building where they find a flamethrower and other weapons. A terrorist approaches them, and Weller distracts him with a small explosion before throwing him into a metal gun rack. The terrorist aims a gun, but Weller kicks him in the head to knock him out.

Niko attacks Jane, and Jane tries to hit him with a fake chair. A fan is turned on in the struggle as Jane and Weller take down Niko and the terrorists with items around the room. Rich runs in to tell them that the trucks with weapons are driving away and they shoot at them as they run outside. Rich uses the flamethrower to cause an explosion that stops the terrorists. Roman meets with Santiago, and pays him for being the masked man. Unsatisfied with the payout, Santiago tries to blackmail him. Roman stabs Santiago and leaves him in the alley.

Keith offers Weller a permanent consulting job on set, but Weller admits that he’s not cut out for Hollywood. Patterson gives Weller information of a nurse who worked at the hospital when Jane gave birth. He tries to tell Jane about it, but she kisses him, telling him that she’s already found her happy ending. Reade confronts Hirst about her lie that she hadn’t spoken to Loewe in years. Hirst makes a speech about trust, and tells him that she fast-tracked his promotion despite knowing about his previous drug problem. She tells him she protects her people and to have a good night. Reade arrives at Weller’s apartment with the tattoo revealing metal, declaring that Hirst is dirty. Weller tells him that he’s late to the party, and reveals that he, Jane, Patterson, and Zapata have set up a full investigation inside.
