Blindspot – Resolves Eleven Myths

Jane Doe’s (Jaimie Alexander) fantasy of living happily with Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and her brother Roman (Luke Mitchell) turns into a nightmare when another version of Jane fights her and tells her that she can never have any of that. She wakes up in a cold sweat as the other Jane stabs her in the chest. Weller and Nas Kamal (Archie Panjabi) brief the rest of the team about the new information they have discovered about Sandstorm. However, they have no idea about what Sandstorm is planning for Phase Two of their mission. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) tells her that she didn’t get enough information from the microchip and Kamal is angry with Jane for abandoning the upload to help Roman on his mission. Jane defends herself by saying that her cover could have been in jeopardy if she didn’t help him and that she believes that she can convince Roman to turn against Sandstorm.

Weller interrupts the argument by calling Kamal into his office. Kamal expresses her frustration with Jane, but Weller tells her that losing her brother might push Jane to Sandstorm. He pulls out the bug that Patterson found in Borden’s office and confronts her about spying on the team. In the elevator, Jane receives a text from Oliver and Patterson grabs her phone. She gives her relationship advice, but Jane admits that she’s never been on a date that she can remember. Suddenly, all of the computers go out and they realize that they’re being hacked. Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) comes on the screen and asks the team to bomb a certain set of coordinates or he will delete every FBI server. After Rich mentions the type of beer Weller drinks, he realizes that Rich is accessing the FBI from his apartment. They find him waiting at his apartment and arrest him.

As Weller brings him in, Edgar Reade (Rob Brown) and Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) notice that investigator and attorney of the Jones case, Ray Yamada (Marcus Choi) and Gail Brown (Meredith Forlenza), are sitting in an office. They panic as they assume that they are here to arrest Reade for Coach Jones’ murder. Zapata asks him if he’s destroyed the tape and Reade asks her if she believes that he is innocent. She admits she doesn’t believe that he’s being honest with her and he goes to talk to the investigators.

During questioning, Rich admits that he never intended to bomb anything, but needed them to arrest him so he could ask for their help. He tells them that Arcadian, an assassin that is so impossible to find that he’s assumed to be a myth, is hunting him. He tells them that Arcadian murdered his lover, Boston (Josh Dean), and is now after him. Brown and Yamada inform Reade that the videos that they found in Jones’ house are evidence of Reade’s claims of abuse and Brown apologizes to him for not helping with his case. Zapata gets a call from the NYPD and finds out that the murder weapon, a knife, was found in a sewer near Coach Jones’ house. Weller gets frustrated by Rich’s lack of cooperation and throws him into an FBI holding cell.

Brown and Yamada show Reade a list of victims and ask him which ones could be possible suspects in Jones’ murder. He refuses to ruin any of the victims’ lives and tells them that they are responsible for Jones’ murder because they dropped the charges against him, telling them that Jones got what he deserved. Zapata pulls him away from the office and tells him that they found the murder weapon.

As the team checks out Rich’s story, Rich crawls out of the vent. He shows them the tool he pulled off one of the guards in the struggle that he used to escape through the vent. After Kamal threatens to send him to Rikers Island, he in turn threatens to expose Omaha. As he starts to tell Weller that Omaha is a code name for an operation, Kamal agrees to keep him at headquarters to shut him up. Patterson pulls up security footage of the holding cell and they see a man dressed up as a guard shoot the two guards.

Weller gives instructions to the FBI to secure the building and look for the shooter. Patterson discovers that a security guard was murdered and that the killer used their badge to get inside. Once alone, Jane tries to convince Kamal that bringing Roman in and offering him a deal could help bring down Sandstorm. Kamal tells her a story of someone who betrayed her trust, but Jane is persistent. Kamal tells her that she’ll think about it and they return to the rest of the group.

In questioning, Weller demands Rich tell them anything helpful. Rich tells them that the assassin is after him because he hit on Kim Jong Un’s wife and Weller gets frustrated. As they roam the halls, Zapata tells Reade that she will take care of the knife. As Reade tells her that he doesn’t need her help, Patterson explains to them that the stolen ID badge has been used on another floor. They reach the floor and find the stolen badge on the mail guy. They figure out that the mail guy’s badge has been stolen and that the assassin is coming down the elevator.

The elevator opens to reveal a single water cooler inside. They realize that it is a bomb with a chemical element that will spread through the vents. As Patterson rushes to disable the bomb, she realizes that it was created inside the building with materials from various sections. She neutralizes the first part of the bomb and then works on the second. When she cuts the wire, she triggers the explosion, which injures her.

Weller instructs Jane to stay with Rich as he and Kamal search for the killer. Outside, they argue about Jane and the bug found in Borden’s office. Kamal tells him that Omaha is a massive surveillance project in order to prevent another giant leak like the Winter one. Reade yells at Zapata for using his life as another risk to gamble on and that he doesn’t need her help. They investigate the locker room and the killer attacks them. After knocking them both out, he drags Zapata away leaving Reade.

The team figures out what to do next, but Reade is only focused on Zapata. Her voice comes on over the loudspeaker as the killer has a gun to her head. She tells them that the assassin has injected her with a deadly neurotoxin. If they leave Rich unattended, he will tell them which of three bottles contains the antidote. Reade insists that they take the deal, but Kamal suggests that they trick the assassin by having Rich tamper with the security footage.

Reade and Kamal find Zapata and Reade takes her in his arms. Weller and Jane wait with Rich and the assassin sneaks up on them. They are no match for him, but Jane flashes to her nightmare and uses the moves of her other self to gain the upper hand. Weller stabs the assassin and he dies before he can tell them which vial contains the antidote. Zapata taps the location of the vial in Morse Code on Reade’s hand and Kamal gives her the antidote. It works and Zapata is healed.

Despite Rich’s insistence that he can continue to be an asset to the team, Weller sends him back to prison. He is loaded into the van, which is a decoy vehicle as the guards immediately hand him the keys to his handcuffs. Boston drives the vehicle, but the FBI stops them. Patterson reveals that after she was checked in the infirmary she did some investigating and found out that everything Rich told them was a lie. She found out that he hacked the system and traced it to Boston’s number.

Jane goes to see Kamal, who tells her that it would be too risky to bring in Roman. Meanwhile, Roman gets a page from Sandstorm’s FBI mole. The other man questions Jane’s loyalty, but he insists that Jane is to be trusted. Reade apologizes to Zapata for his outburst and asks her not to get involved any further.

Kamal visits Weller who is in the process of changing the locks on his apartment. She expresses her concern about Jane, telling him that she once made the mistake of trusting the wrong person. She admits that she has a hard time trusting people, but she wants to try trusting Weller. They kiss and Weller shuts the apartment door behind them.

Jane goes on a date with Oliver Kind (Jonathan Patrick Moore) and he asks her questions about herself. She doesn’t feel comfortable answering them and walks away from the date. Zapata goes to the police station and sneaks into the evidence room. After stealing the knife, she realizes that it belonged to Freddy. Roman goes to the drop point and pulls out papers that inform him that Jane’s loyalty is to the FBI.
