Brooke Nevin – Open Season

By  |

Q.  What are the current projects that you’re working on?

A.  I just finished wrapping a guest appearance on the show “Head Cases,” the new FOX series with Chris O’Donnell and Adam Goldberg.  I also just booked a guest lead appearance playing the role of a vampire sorority girl named “Buffy” on “Smallville.”

Q.  What can you tell us about the premise for the movie The Comeback Season and your role?

A.  The Comeback Season is a film about an older and younger man who have wronged the women they love and their challenge in working together to winback the respect of these women and maybe their affection too.  I play “Christine,” one of these women and the youngest daughter of Ray Liotta’s character.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this project?

A.  It was a really great script that I connected to, as well as the character I play.  Christine is very idealistic but also very sensitive and non-judgmental.  It brought me close to the idea that your life may be heading in one direction but sometimes the situation not clear-cut, but you come through these experiences with a better understanding of yourself and those around you.  Even when unexpected and hurtful things happen, it that can bring people together, especially family and I connected with that a lot.  I loved that there are a lot of comedic elements to the script.  It’s really a romantic drama, but it has darkly funny, ironic moments.

Q.  What was it like getting to work with a cast of famous actors like Ray Liotta and Rachel Blanchard?

A. It was a great experience.  Rachel and I enjoyed playing on-camera siblings.  It was easy playing her sister because we had a very immediate connection.  Ray Liotta is a very focused actor, and it was wonderful to watch him work.

Q.  Do you have a most memorable moment from filming The Comeback Season?

A.  We were filming a scene in a restaurant and it’s a scene in which there is a battle of egos with the women against the men.  Sometimes when you’re on one set, filming one scene for a whole day, the repetitiveness can turn to hilarity and it’s very hard not to start laughing and laughing a lot.

Q.  Why should viewers take the time to check out this movie?

A.  It’s a very truthful story about how we can all make mistakes in our lives and yet somehow find ourselves on an unexpectedly better path.  It’s a family film, really funny and insightful.  It’s a great film.

Q.  You’ve worked on the show “The 4400” recently, any chance we’ll get to see your character next season?

A.   I have a cameo in the second season, but my character is away at college.  Will “Nikki Hudson” be back?  You never know!

Q.  The show “The 4400” is such a big cult hit, what do you think it is about it that keeps drawing in viewers?

A.  I think what’s great about “The 4400” is that even with all of the Sci-Fi elements, there is a real focus on the emotional lives of the characters so it’s easy for audience members to relate to them and be drawn into the stories.

Q.  What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A.  I have a real love for art and photography so when I have a free chance I like to go down to the beach and take pictures.  I have also recently taken up tango, so I am perfecting my tango, that and salsa.

Q.  Do you have a latest obsession, are you into any particular book, sport or activity?

A.  I’ve been listening to a lot of old jazz tunes, the likes of Sarah Vaughn and Dinah Washington.  There is this swanky old 40’s style jazz bar in Los Feliz called The Dresden.  I love to go there and hear the re-interpretations at open mic night and take a moment to step back into that era.

Q.  What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A.  It means a lot to me that people support what I do and as far as I’m concerned I just feel lucky waking up in the morning that I am able to makea living doing what I love.  If I can share my experiences with other people through a medium whether it is film or TV, if the audience can draw enjoyment out of what I love to do, that’s just icing on top of the cake.
