Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) “Tequila Cowgirl” has a modern yet nostalgic feel to it. Add elements of modern day pop mixed with a healthy respect of country music, throughout the ages, and of course a little bit of rock n roll and you got yourself Cherish Lee’s “Tequila Cowgirl!”

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I grew up listening to all different types of music so this really may be one of the more difficult questions that I’m asked. I love anyone from Hank Williams to Michael Jackson and from Ray Lamontagne to Glenn Miller. Really any music with heart and soul and I’m sold

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Tequila Cowgirl.”

A) “Tequila Cowgirl” is the sliding door to my life. Who I’d be if I had stayed in Texas and not moved to Nashville (which was by far the BEST decision I’ve ever made). The album itself is a window looking into the last several years of my life.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) They connect to her, Tequila Cowgirl. Any man would want to bring her home to meet his mama and every woman wants to be her best friend.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) It’s a day in the life of Tequila Cowgirl.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Every song is different. A lot of times I write the song and picture the story and allow it to unfold. I write with vision. I’m an extremely visual thinker.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) My producer, Nate Wedan, really ran with this project. He respectfully allowed me to be the writer and artist but most importantly a mother! I definitely was definitely hands on in editing and some of the music, but Nate did a badass job with this project. I’m forever grateful.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Cherish Lee performance?

A) Pure unadulterated entertainment.

Q) What songs off your upcoming album are you looking forward to performing live?

A) All of them! I’m excited to bring these stories of mine to life for the audience. I know I’m not the only person who had to walk out this stuff- some difficult- some glorious. So, to be able to write lyrics and music to these things is an incredible thing!

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new album as a whole?

A) I want them to know the story behind the making of this album and be encouraged. You can accomplish what you can see. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love performing! I’ve played the Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman and The Bluebird Cafe to tiny dance halls in Texas to huge festivals in France. They all provide their own magic.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) My play list is ridiculous. I am listening to so many different people and genres.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would LOVE to do a song with Leon Bridges. I would be tickled pink to do a song with him!!!! Seriously! Leon- if you’re reading this…

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s a pretty special tool. I want them to get to know me and while my music provides so much insight into the deeper parts of who I am. I get to have fun and be silly with my posts/stories. They get to see my dogs and me without makeup. They get to see me as an everyday woman.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU! You are the heartbeat of what I do. I literally could not do it without you and for that, I am forever grateful. I love you!
