Chris Hunter – Due South

Q.  What are some of the current projects that you’re working on?

A.  Well, I’m working on a show “South of Nowhere” right now.  It’s a brand new show on The N, where I’m one of the series regulars on the show.

Q.  What can you tell us about your new show “South of Nowhere” and your character?

A.  The show is about a family that moves from like a small town in Ohio to big city L.A.  It’s all about dealing with discovering yourself and who you are and dealing with growing up.  My character is the oldest brother in the family, I’m like the popular jock, I’m like a star basketball player.  I am really protective of my sister and my whole family, it’s really good and it touches on a lot of controversies.  I get into a couple of fights and it’s really cool!

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this project?

A.  Well, when I read the script I was like, “Holy crap! This is really good!”  It is very racy, it touches on racism in L.A. with the cops and like abortion and teenage lesbians.  It’s definitely got a lot of racy TV going on!

Q.  How does this show differ from other family dramas?

A.  It’s very racy, we’re filming in digital so it’s going to be really raw and show what really goes down in public high school.

Q.  “South of Nowhere” will debut in November on the N network.  Will you be doing anything special for the premiere?

A.  Hopefully I’ll be at some really cool party, I really don’t know.  I probably will just have a little get together at my place, or who knows we might be having a cast party.

Q.  Do you have a most memorable moment from filming “South of Nowhere”?

A.  Probably my first fight scene that we ever had, which was really cool!  We had a stunt coordinator come and it’s going to play really well.  That was fun, but actually me and the guy who I was fighting, we had to do like three different takes because it’s annuals and stuff.  It was kind of painful after a while but it was worth it for sure.

Q.  What’s it like working with such a diverse cast on the show?

A.  It’s great to tell you the truth, everybody on the show, I was a little nervous at first but everybody is incredible.  The whole cast is awesome!  It’s one of the best crews I’ve ever worked with, the crew is really nice.

Q.  What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A.  I surf, that’s pretty much what I do.

Q.  Is there a summer movie that you’re really interesting in checking out?

A.  I definitely want to see The Island that just came out, I think it looked kind of stupid, but I heard it’s really, really good.

Q.  What would you like to say to fans and supporters of your career?

A.  I’d like to say watch the show, it’s going to be really good and it’s going to touch on a lot of good things. Stay watching ‘cuz it gets better and better as it goes.
