QQ. Are there any recent projects that you've been working on or has "Beyond The Break" been your sole activity?
A. I had a film lined up that I was going to have to pass on because I thought we were going back to earlier to "Beyond the Break." It actually got pushed so I am probably not going to do that until we get back.
Q. With season two premiering, what's new with your character?
A. Did you see the premiere Friday? My mom is going to make an appearance and I will have to deal with some issues with that. Obviously there is the Lani thing hanging over. I think I've forgiven Kai but I haven't forgiven Lani for breaking my leg and almost ruining my career. I think there is a lot that will go on with your mother.
Q. How about what will be new for the show itself this season?
A. Like Ross said, there will be some new characters introduced and there will be some new relationships, some new love flings. There is always some drama, a little bit of cattiness. It really heats up and gets crazy!
Q. What about your role really continues to challenge you?
A. I guess the stuff coming up with my mom is a touchy subject. A lot of Lacey's issues comes from her relationship with her mother. The challenging part is trying to stick with that and to get deep with that with her mom. The battle of seeing her and what I do about it, what's more important to me, her or surfing in Hawaii and chasing my dream. That's pretty much what Lacey is about but other circumstances come up. It's obvious that I don't just hate her, I love her a lot, there are a lot of issues i didn't deal with before. Then I get over protective with Justin, he has this thing going on with his wife. She befriends me and takes me under her wing during the mom issue. So, I kind of get in between his relationship a bit.
Q. How were you able to tap into the emotions for the conflict with your mom?
A. Any teenage kid I think has that issue at one point or another with their parent. Mine were never as serious as Lacey's. When you're fifteen or sixteen you think your problems are the biggest in the world. I had some issues with my mom for a few years in high school. Going form a great relationship to normal teen angst. I try to go back to what I felt and how I felt when I was going through that.
Q. Did you have to go through any new training for your role?
A. Yeah, out here in California there are waves and beaches so I go out here. We don't have any coaches or anything, we're pretty much on our own now.
Q. Since the show is in its second season, do you get more recognition now from fans when you're out on the street?
A. Off and on, not too much . Especially being in LA where there are so many people. When we were in New York doing press stuff, we had a ton of fans then. Every now and then someone will say something, I get fan mail here and there.
Q. What is it about the show "Beyond The Break" that really continues to draw viewers in?
A. I think it deals with a lot of teenage issues that everyone can relate to. All the characters are somebody anyone can relate to, someone is a lot like Suzie or Lacey or Kai. Visually it's a great show, who wouldn't want to be in Hawaii, it's perfect. It's done really well, it's cut together well. It deals with a bunch of issues at once, you don't get bored, everyone I know that watches it are like, "Oh my God, I get so drawn in!" Everyone seems to get hooked on it.
Q. What is it about The N that makes it an appealing network for you to be a part of?
A. Everyone at The N is awesome, everyone is really nice and working hard. I think everyone is really behind the show. It's a smaller network but the good thing about that is that you get to know what's going on. You get to meet people face to face and people know stuff about you and know you. It feels more like a closer knit family I guess, everyone seems to be behind it. It's young, fresh, upbeat and trendy.
Q. Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular music group, sport or activity?
A. I love snowboarding, it's my favorite thing to do. I probably will go up to Big Bear and pack up the car and I'm hoping to do that this week or next week. Pretty much hanging out with my friends and surfing, of course.
Q. What would you like to say to the fans and supporters of the show?
A. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Keep watching and keep responding and tell everybody to watch. You rock!!
