Q

Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?

A) I just finished a movie with Adam Sandler called I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. It's about some fireman in New York that pretend to be gay to receive some benefits.

Q) Please tell us what is new this season on "King of Queens" and for your character Danny.

A) I don't know too much about it. I think I am going to remain on the show for as long I can. I think they have Spence and I breaking up towards the end. I am not sure if we get back together or not, hopefully, not because I am really tired of him.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?

A) As a standup comedian, I wanted to do a sitcom and then this one came along. I wrote a couple of the episodes and I figured it is really a good relatable show. I really liked the way my character was going to develop. They asked me to jump on so I jumped on.

Q) What about your role is challenging?

A) Hair and makeup, it's really tough to go through that every day. I am just kidding, of course! It's a constant struggle, as a standup comic, to act out someone else's lines. It's not always the way I would say it. Sometimes I can twist and turn things to my liking. Sometimes I am kind of stuck with the way it is. The difficulty is modeling to my style so it's nice.

Q) Does comedic timing come natural to you or is it something you work at?

A) I think I always did have a knack, even as a little kid. I was talking to a buddy of mine and he said his little girl makes these faces. She can't speak yet because she's only fifteen months old. She makes these faces and just has this comic timing. I think some people are just born with it. I really do believe I have it, but you always have to work on it because you have the instincts, but then you have to make the lines funny or give some kind of inflection. So, I think it comes natural to me.

Q) What is it like getting to work with such an amazing cast?

A) It's great! Its wonderful! They love working with me. I realize that, now, after working for seven or eight years on the show. They come up to me every season before we start the show and they say, "Gary, it is a pleasure...to work with you!" I'll say ditto and then head back to my dressing room, after the guy parks my limo. [Answer said sarcastically.]

Q) What has been your most memorable moment from filming the show?

A) There has been a lot! When you've had a run like we've been lucky enough to have, there has been so many good times. There was one episode where I had to sing an Andy Gibb song as my wedding gift to Doug and Carrie. We just had so much fun! We did it about a hundred times and everyone was in tears laughing. That's one of my most memorable moments.

Q) Why do people continue to tune in to the show?

A) I don't think there is anything on in that time slot worth watching, so they keep coming back to us. No, I think it's just a relatable show. There are no bells or whistles. It's just a straight up relatable show. I think a lot of people feel like they are Doug and Carrie. They love Jerry Stiller and I really think there is a lot luring them in.

Q) What do you do in your spare time?

A) I play a lot of golf. I am passionate about the game of golf. When I am not playing golf, I try to write and continue to improve my standup by reinventing it. I am also trying to write some sitcom ideas for life after "King of Queens."

Q) What would you like to say to your fans or supporters?

A) I would love to thank everybody that is a real supporter of the show, especially if they are a supporter of the character Danny. It's not my show, but people do come up to me and they say they actually love the character and so it's nice. I'd just like to thank everyone on my behalf and on cousin Danny's behalf.
