QQ) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) I am working on "Blood Ties" and that's all that I have time for right now.
Q) Please tell us about the character Mike Celluci on "Blood Ties."
A) Mike Celluci is a Toronto police detective who has been on the force for a number of years. He's a good cop who is always trying to get to the truth in any case and he has a past working relationship with Vikki Nelson (played by Christina Cox) who used to be his partner on the police force. Because of a physical disability, she had to leave the force. Along with being partners, they were romantically involved. All of that came unraveled. At the beginning of the series, Mike and Vikki have been a part for a year and they hook up again on the initial case of the pilot episode. There is an undeniable spark that exists between them, but it comes with some strings. There are hurt feelings on both sides and they are no longer, officially, partners. they are still figuring out a way to work together.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?
A) I am just a blue collar actor who auditions for whatever is out there and I get what I get. Any job that pays, I am going to be auditioning for. I think there are a handful of actors in the world that get to choose their projects. I just feel fortunate that I auditioned for it and got the job.
Q) What about your role was challenging?
A) Mike is a really good fit for me. We both have a rough side to us and yet underneath is a caring person. In spite of all of Mike's blusters, he really is in love with Vikki. I'm a long time married guy and I am very much experienced in loving and caring for someone for a long time.
Q) Where do you draw your experiences from for your portrayal?
A) It's the same for any part. Actors pull stuff from their own lives. That's all you have, really. You have to just draw upon different facets of your personality and character. Hopefully, that's what the producers see in you when they cast you. If everyone's done their job right, then you're a good fit for the character drawing upon your own experiences.
Q) What has been your most memorable moment from filming?
A) Aside from actually getting the call that I got the part, I am not sure that there is a single most memorable moment. The three principals (myself, Christina and Kyle [Schmid]) have such a really good time on set. I've been fortunate that I've not had too many bad experiences in my career, but I am really really enjoying this one. I love being in Vancouver and I love working with Christina because we both approach work in the same way, which is hard to describe. In the way we go about blocking scenes and binding scenes with the director is basically the same. I think that makes it a lot of fun for both of us. We just work very fluidly together.
Q) Why do you think people will be tuning into the show?
A) Two words, Kyle Schmid. Kyle will be (and already is after the first episode) getting a lot of attention from women and rightly so! The guy is extremely sexy, young and such a perfect choice to play the role of Henry. I think Kyle will be a big driving force in the success of our show. Of course, I think anyone who has seen the show can't imagine anyone else in the role of Vikki. Christina just is so perfect for it. I think we have a good cast and I think at the heart of the show there is this love triangle that, hopefully, will captivate the viewers. I think the relationship between Vikki and Henry and Vikki and Mike are different enough that I think viewers, hopefully, will have a hard time choosing who they think Vikki should be with. I think the triangle is the core of why people will be watching and people will want their Henry fix.
Q) Do people recognize you from your role as Doug Witter on "Dawson's Creek?"
A) Most people still seem to remember me from "Bold and the Beautiful," which was over ten years ago, but it depends on where I am. In Canada, people seem to remember me from "Bold and the Beautiful" and down in the south in the US is also that show as well. There are still, obviously, "Dawson's Creek" stuff going on, but I am always amazed by "The Bold and the Beautiful." That show is so big around the world and in so many different countries that a lot of foreigners still respond to my character on that show.
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) I have two very young children so between the show and changing diapers, I really have no spare time.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) Me, personally, I am really flattered that there are fans and supporters of me. I am just a blue collar actor who struggles like everyone else to make a living. I am really touched that anyone has followed my career, in particular. I am having such a wonderful experience on "Blood Ties" that I really hope it goes for a long time. I'm very appreciative of fans of the show and I hope we keep bringing in new eye balls every week!
