Q

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is really a reflection of who I am. It is somewhat representative of the American melting pot. I generally kind of resist labels. I just heard someone describe my sound as pop with musical and lyrical depth. I thought that was pretty cool!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I could live, eat and breathe Sheryl Crow and The Dixie Chicks. A lot of the music on their albums, older and newer, just blow my mind. Some of the things that some people haven't even heard (that haven't gotten radio play), I've been singing. Also, they inspire me as a woman both as a female who needs solid role models in music and artists. My parents were kind of bipolar musically, my dad was listening to Motown and my mom was into Dolly Parton and country. When everyone was together it was Elton John. I think I was more artistically inspired by their music than by what was popular and what my friends were listening to on the radio. But, I was like everyone else and had a crush on the latest boy band.

Q) What is it about your song "She Is" that resonates with listeners?

A) It is so special to me that this song is resonating with so many people because my inspiration for when we wrote it was the love that I witnessed between my parents my whole life. The song was written as a tribute to the way a man looks at a woman that he truly loves for the essence of who she is. I think that it is so profound. I think more women need to understand that they deserve that and it is not about losing fifteen pounds or looking twenty years old forever. It's that someone really loves you.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Bettina show?

A) Good music and a good time! I love performing live, anywhere from a coffee house to a stadium. It makes no difference to me. I love interacting with my audience. It's the best!

Q) How much of a hand did you have in the production of your CD?

A) I am always involved in anything. I co-write or write everything that I record. I am always right there as a part of the process to make sure that everything sounds authentic and true to the building of the song from the ground up to what it should be. I would say I am pretty involved from beginning to end.

Q) You started out as an actress and now you are pursuing a music career. What is it that made you become a singer and start a music career now?

A) I didn't really start out as actress. My childhood was so unconventional. I grew up in recording studios working as a singer and an actress since I could form a word. I sang children's records, jingles and movie scores since I was little. That was part of getting to voice characters that people grew up with. What's so fortunate about me, is that no one looks at me and says, "That's the girl from that show." I was able to grow up working and that was really lucky for me. I think at this point in my career, I really had the chance to develop my craft as a song writer and I am at the point where I am ready to share it all. I'm so excited that people are responding!

Q) What is your favorite song on your album?

A) The song "She Is" is my favorite. One, because it is about my parents and number two because people are really relating to it and it means so much to me.

Q) Why should people take the time to pick up your album?

A) People who want to pick it up, I totally appreciate it. I've worked really hard for them to feel like it is time and money well spent. A lot of hard work and my work ethic have gone into it. I really just hope people enjoy it!

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A) Thank you so much for letting me share what I have to share. The best is yet to come!
