QQ) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) Right now, I'm working on "Supernatural." I just starred in a movie calledTaken, which is with Liam Neeson. It was shot in Paris, which was amazing! Hopefully, this month or so we'll be releasing that.
Q) Please tell us about your character Ruby on the show "Supernatural."
A) Ruby is a demon hunter. She's a badass manipulative girl who is always a couple of steps ahead of the game. She's really, really smart and you don't know if she's there to help Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) or if she has her own agenda going on. We'll find out!
Q) What made you want to be a part on the show?
A) I'd seen a couple of the episodes and I really liked the way it was done. I definitely thought it was a thriller scary show. The way that it was shot was really cool and I thought the way it was shot was really interesting.
Q) What about your role do you find challenging?
A) There is a lot of action going on and that can be very specific. It can take a long time to shoot. It's really fun and fun to watch. I've been in kickboxing training. It's definitely hard work, but I've been enjoying it.
Q) Where do you draw on for your portrayal?
A) After I got the role, I started to watch some action movies and I also sawBasic Instinct. Sharon Stone in that was a key for me and I definitely tapped into a little bit of that. I, obviously, also had to develop it myself and bring my own to it. I also wanted to bring this sort of animalistic side to Ruby. I know this sounds weird, but I also watched some of the Discovery Channel because she is a demon hunter and I wanted to see how animals go after what they are hunting since I definitely thought there was an animalistic side to her. So, I watched some lions and tigers hunt their prey. I tried to, physically, bring that aspect to it.
Q) What is it like working with such an amazing cast?
A) It's been really great! They're really talented actors and such sweet boys. They really make you feel welcome and they are goofballs. It's been really fun! I've had a great time.
Q) What has been your most memorable moment from filming "Supernatural?"
A) In the second episode, I'm at a diner and I put ketchup on my plate. I'm supposed to put a big load of ketchup on my plate. So, I'm squeezing the bottle and on about our third take...I think someone had unscrewed the top to play a joke on me because all of a sudden ketchup flies all over me and all over plate! I had just started on the show and everyone was laughing. It kind of broke the ice for me to make me feel more welcome on the set. It as kind of embarrassing, but it was fun.
Q) Why do you think people continue to tune in to see the show?
A) Every week it is a new adventure for the boys. I think that is definitely a good quality of it. There are always new problems that they have to solve. It is scary and there is an exciting vibe that the show brings. They always leave it hanging, which they do in a lot of series. Also, the boys are not too hard on the eyes. The show is exciting and fun. Every time you watch it there is another adventure.
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) Being in Vancouver, I've been taking yoga classes and pilates. I've started taking a dance class because I'm not a very good dancer. I've also been trying to get to see as much of the city as possible. I've been checking out everything that I can and I have some friends that are filming here. I've been hanging out with them some and when I do have down time I take advantage of it. There are a couple of books that I want to read, as well.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you?
A) Thank you! I really appreciate everything, supporting me and watching the show. Keep watching because there is definitely more to come and it will get more exciting and fun!
