New Page 1Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) I just finished up the Apple iPod Nano Campaign. I have been working on an online series called "LXD" with Jon M. Chu. I'm also working on "Glee," of course.
Q) Please tell us about your character Mike Chang on the show "Glee."
A) I play Mike Chang who is a football jock with dancing and singing abilities that joins the Glee Club. He has finally found a place where he can express himself and feel accepted. I think that is definitely needed in schools today, some place students can go to just be themselves.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?
A) A show that allows you to sing and dance, coupled with clever writing? I'm in!
Q) What has been the most challenging aspect of filming?
A) Time. There are so many things to shoot and rehearse, but so little time. There are moments when we would have dance rehearsals in between shooting scenes. It was very hectic, but all worth it in the end.
Q) How did you prepare for the role?
A) What was cool about this role is that I got to bring a lot of myself and draw from a lot of my past high school experiences. It was like going through my sophomore year all over again!
Q) Was there instant cast chemistry when everyone began working together?
A) Yes! They accepted the new cast members with open arms. We knew coming in that they had been working together for a good couple months and we were walking into a tight family. So, it was a little nerve wracking, but I am happy to say that we are now part of the Glee-fam. Everyone in the cast brings a different element to the table, which creates these great moments on screen. I'm no chemist, but I knew something great was brewing.
Q) How long does it take the group to learn the dance numbers and songs for the show?
A) Well, what used to take us three weeks to learn has now crunched down to a couple of days. Like I said before, time is not always on our side. So, we turn into super fast learners. I believe if you have a passion for something, you'll pick it up pretty quickly.
Q) What has been your most memorable moment form filming "Glee?"
A) Without giving away any spoilers, there is a number where we jump around in pajamas and it was definitely a highlight for me. That was one of the moments where I pinched myself and realized that this is my job...to jump around and sing in pajamas. Well, I'm sure a lot of you do that already.
Q) You and many of the other "Glee" cast members use Twitter and keep in close contact with the fans of the show. Why is that so important to you all?
A) I just think it's a great way to connect and hear the fans speak their minds. We live in such a technology driven society that it is possible to communicate with someone across the globe with just a click of a button. To this day, it still amazes me that we can do that. I embrace the fact that we can communicate with our fans this way.
Q) The show is taking off with a bullet. Did you expect it to be such a success when it began?
A) I had no clue. I did know that I came into something really special the first day I was on set.
Q) Why should people take the time to see "Glee?"
A) Music, dance and Jane Lynch! If that's not enough incentive to see it, then I don't know what is. We are a show that doesn't take ourselves seriously, which I think makes for some honest television.
Q) Where can people go online to learn more about you?
A) They can visit my website athttp://www.harryshumjr.com.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you?
A) Thanks to everyone supporting the little guy! I'll do my best to always entertain you until the curtain falls!
