QQ. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?
A. I just got done completing a pilot for Happy Madison, which is Adam Sandler's production company where I play Eddie in a new show called "Breaking In." I also just finished shooting a commercial with Tom Brady.
Q. You're currently seen in the show "The Hard Times of RJ Berger." Where do you draw from for your portrayal of Miles?
A. I really got lucky with this character, Miles Jenner is just so much fun. For me it would be like living in a world where I can just say and do whatever I want. I don't ever have to worry about how people perceive me or ever have to worry about getting into trouble. This guy is just the zaniest, most full of energy guy I've ever played. It's just so much fun to be the guy who is scheming and putting together all of the events that partake either for better or for worse and not really worry about my own image. It would be equivalent to you being able to walk into a grocery store and just being able to do whatever you wanted. That's what it's like to play Miles Jenner.
Q. Is there anything about the role that you find challenging?
A. I would say the challenge with Miles is that his relationship with Lily can get pretty mean at times and there are a lot of sayings that Miles has or comments he'll make when he's putting someone down or making a joke at the expense of someone else. I have such a hard time being mean to people or saying things that aren't appropriate. When I have to do that sometimes I'll look at Seth and David and say, "Really? This is what you want me to say? Okay. Is there anything else we can do? No, okay, we're saying this line."
Q. Has comedic timing come naturally to you or is it something that you've honed?
A. I think it's a lot of me just being natural, I think a lot of that with comedic timing is being able to walk into a party and being one of those guys who can just tell a joke. Like you'll go to a wedding and there will be that one guy who is just super funny and has great movement and is very expressive. I don't think those guys are trained for that, you can just do it. I was always that guy in school, I got in trouble a lot in school because I always talked too much and told a lot of jokes, I was always outgoing just as a normal person. A lot of people watch the show and they're like, I can't believe someone is paying you to be yourself. I think a lot of it is natural, but being able to work in this industry, you feel very blessed to be able to learn from the very best. I worked with Richard Dreyfuss who is extremely talented and Nia Vardalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding took me under her wing. I have also worked with Rachel Dratch from "SNL." You pick up a lot of subtleties. I also worked with Tony Shalhoub from "Monk" who also has incredible comedic timing. Even on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" working with Phill Lewis who is Mr. Moseby on the show and the different directors, you're able to tune that craft.
Q. What do you think it is about the show that draws in so many viewers?
A. I think it's something new and exciting, you're not watching "Saved By The Bell," you're watching a very realistic show that is extremely funny. The characters are very relatable and every single character in the show is someone that you can say I went to school with someone like that or maybe you can say I am that person. People hit me up on Facebook all the time and say hey you remind me of myself or hey I'm going through the same kind of thing that you're character is going through on the show. It's refreshing to know that we do have a good relatable audience.
Q. You're a part of Facebook and Twitter, why is it important for you to connect with your fans through these social networking sites?
A. I think that it's amazing to be able to hear from my fans and to be able to reach out to them. I would love to ask Robin Williams a handful of questions or Jim Carrey or Tom Hanks. I would love to be able to understand a little bit more of the direction that I'm going in. When I moved to LA from Florida I didn't have anybody, I didn't know anyone, no one could help me in the right direction. I always think, man, if I had someone out here I wonder where I would be now. Any time anyone has a question for me or someone is looking in the direction of acting or just wants to know anything in general, if I could help somebody out, I like reaching out and helping.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. Thank you! It would not be happening if it wasn't for every single person tuning in. I just want people to understand that when you send me a message on Facebook or Twitter and you tell me that I am awesome and you tell me that I am funny it means the world to me. If you see me on the street you can always stop me and give me a handshake, that brightens my day up! It means the world to me when someone can sit down and just make me feel like I am doing something right. It's very hard to put yourself in front of a camera and it's very hard to open your life up to the whole world. Any time someone can sit down and say hey man, you're doing well at what you love, it's great.
