QQ. You'll be reprising your role in the new Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides film, what can you tell us about the new premise?
A. We have a new director named Rob Marshall who is wonderful. It's 3D and that looks spectacular, I was just checking out the 3D playback on set. We have a few new cast members and we have a new story which I think is really along the lines of the first movie.
Q. You have a new TV show you're working on called "Gigantic," what can you tell us about the premise and your character?
A. It's a TV series and it's set in Hollywood and it's about two celebrity families and they each deal with the trappings of success. I play the father of one of the families and I play an action movie star and the other father is played by Patrick Fabian. It really focuses on how the family matures and how the kids deal with their parents success and growing up in Hollywood and the challenges that they face.
Q. What made you want to be a part of the show?
A. Patrick Fabian! I kid you not, he called me and I thought it would be fun to work with him again. The creators were fabulous and Marti Noxon has a very rich track record.
Q. Where did you draw from for your portrayal of the character?
A. I drew from myself to portray this character, but they're Australian and I am English. I do have a family and I drew from my real life.
Q. Is there anything challenging about your role?
A. With it being a TV series and the nature of it being about celebrities, the challenge is keeping a sense of reality within the unrealistic world of Hollywood and show business.
Q. What is it about the show that you think will draw viewers in?
A. It's fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and the cast is excellent. The network really seems to be getting behind it and I think it's made for a specific audience, and that audience as I understand it, will hopefully really appreciate it because there really aren't any shows similar to this one.
