Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Stevie Ray, Jimi Hendrix, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Favorite Part of Loving You.”

A) “Favorite Part of Loving You” came to me first by the title. Usually the songs that are the easiest for me to write, are the ones that unfold together sonically and lyrically, but I happened to come up with this title that just existed in my head for a couple days without writing any words. The lyrics came subsequently after hearing the title in my head for a few days and I realized that I wanted to make a song about the better times of loving someone and how the memories filter into the future, making the past look not as terrible as it felt when things ended

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I write all my songs from honest experiences and feelings I’ve obtained about a certain time in my life where I felt enough to be able to make it into something that others can find truth behind. There’s a lot of vulnerability behind my music that a listener could find relevant and nostalgic.

Q) How will the video play into the message of the song?

A) The video shows the contrast between my songwriting process and the social and solitary reflection of the past. There is thematic imagery and also personal moments of thought and creativity.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics? How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) It’s about half and half lyrics first or melodies on guitar first. In some cases the title will pop in to my head before the lyrics or melody and I try to shape a blueprint around that, but when all of those things come together is when you’re in your “comfort zone.” Usually the best songs for me are when those things all come funneling together. It’s a great feeling when you can simultaneously create with multiple tools of songwriting in a certain moment of inspiration. I go into the studio with my friend and producer Andrew Wells and we figure out parts together. I play him a song and we both find the brick and mortar to lay around it. The studio musicians on the songs are also my good friends so we all have fun making the records.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Corey Harper performance?

A) Me sweating on stage and singing songs about girls. Maybe a few guitar solos and familiar songs I cover to sing along to

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) Yes

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Would I be lying if I didn’t say Migos? I mean, what can’t those guys do?

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s cool because I can post whatever I think is interesting, funny or creative and usually people will either send me DM’s asking me if I’m okay or get totally onboard with what I’m doing. It’s a way to promote my music and any shows I’m doing. I try not to take social media very serious. It’s a small window into my personal and professional life and it’s cool that people are interested in the things I have to say

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for what you’ve given me, and I promise to spend a lifetime giving back.
