The episode opens with the wedding planning in full swing as Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) is trying on wedding dresses. She goes to answer the door and finds delivery guy Patrick (Seth Green) standing there. She asks Patrick what he thinks of the wedding dress she is wearing. Rebecca, I don’t think Patrick is the best person to ask wedding dress fashion advice. One, he’s the delivery guy and two, he wears the same outfit every day. But it’s obvious that Rebecca has shared other information about her romantic entanglements as Patrick asks Rebecca whether she moved up her wedding date because of the kiss in the elevator with her “fine” boss (Nathaniel). Patrick notes if Rebecca is under so much stress planning her wedding, why doesn’t she get some wedding planning help. Rebecca relates for Patrick what happened when she called her mother (Tovah Feldshuh). Naomi couldn’t help due to the facial injections she’s been getting for the wedding and it will take at least a week for her face to recover. Next, Rebecca asked her “mother from another mother” Paula (Donna Lynn Champlin). Sunil (Parvesh Cheena) is at Paula’s and tells Rebecca that Paula doesn’t have time to help plan her wedding because Paula needs to study for law school finals. After she finishes, Rebecca thinks maybe Patrick could help her, but he can’t because he’s the delivery guy.

Rebecca meets with Heather (Vella Lovell) and tells her about the wedding planning. Rebecca has gotten some RSVPs already, except for her dad. She tries to pretend that she’s not disappointed that her father will probably not be at her wedding. Forget having a wedding planner, Rebecca tells Heather that she’s having a D.I.Y. (“Do It Yourself”) wedding like a couple from Nova Scotia, Sasha and Dustin. In fact, Rebecca plans to copy Sasha and Dustin’s D.I.Y. Wedding, which should make the wedding planning a lot easier. Rebecca runs into Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz) outside a craft store where Rebecca’s picking up some supplies for the D.I.Y. Wedding and Valencia is buying stuff for the homemade candles she makes. Since Valencia hasn’t responded to her text messages, Rebecca tells her how much she misses her. But Valencia can’t, it’s still hard for her that Rebecca is marrying Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III). Meanwhile, Father Bray (Rene Gube) tells Josh to make sure that he has a say in the planning of his own wedding and not leave all the decisions up to Rebecca, reminding him of how things were when Valencia took charge of the wedding preparations.

At the law firm, Nathaniel (Scott Michael Foster) can’t get Rebecca off his mind as we get a montage of scenes played against “The Devil Wind” instrumental music. He goes to Paula’s desk and she comments on the smoothie he has. Nathaniel tells Paula that he needs to cleanse and doesn’t feel normal when he’s packing on some extra pounds. “Where is Rebecca?” Nathaniel asks Paula, “It’s almost 11:00.” Paula reminds that Rebecca called out sick. “I don’t believe in sick. If it’s not cancer, you come to work. In fact, most cancers are a half day,” says Nathaniel. He’s determined to run a tight ship. “We need to focus and you need to start acting like normal people,” Nathaniel says and then drinks his spinach kale smoothie in one gulp. “You need to call your little friend and tell her to come to work now,” Nathaniel tells Paula. When Rebecca arrives, Nathaniel accuses her of moving up the wedding date because of their elevator kiss. He also tells her that she’s not getting paid for the entire week.

Josh returns home to find Rebecca and Heather’s place full of wedding stuff. Taking Father Bray’s words to heart, Josh tells Rebecca that he appreciates everything she’s doing, but he wants to help with the wedding planning, too. Rebecca shoots down Josh’s idea for a forest green tux as well as his other ideas. Josh sees the origami cranes Rebecca has and suggests that they could make them together as he was into origami was he was younger. Josh falls asleep so Rebecca is left to make the cranes. She also pays a homeless woman for a bottle she finds in the trash. Rebecca plans to use the bottle as a mason jar like the mason jars Dustin and Sasha had. When Paula arrives the next day to find Rebecca trying to make cake pops, she offers to order a cake from Costco for her friend.

Nathaniel passes gas during an office meeting and refuses to admit that he is sick when Paula tells him he needs to go home. “I’m not sick, I don’t believe in sick. It’s like my dad always says ‘If you’re not missing a leg, you walk it off. If you are missing a leg, you limp it off. And if you’re missing two legs, thank you for your service, here’s a quarter.’” Then it happens, Nathaniel poops in his pants! Darryl (Pete Gardner), Tim and another employee come to Nathaniel’s office. Darryl tells Nathaniel he’s in no condition for the meeting and should take a nap. “Like my dad always says, naps are for children, the elderly and weaklings.” Darryl offers Nathaniel his spare suit and suggests he take a “Man Nap,” which leads to a great 80s rock song.

Heather comes to hang out at Valencia’s as Rebecca is freaking out over the wedding. Valencia admits to Heather that although she doesn’t miss Josh, she had planned her whole future around him and doesn’t know what to do with her life now.

Meanwhile, back at wedding planning central, Rebecca receives a text from her father saying that he’s stranded in Alaska and won’t make the wedding. Rebecca admits to Patrick that she’s not a normal person. She needs him to “Tell Me That I’m Okay Patrick,” Rebecca asks in song.

Nathaniel’s father arrives at the law firm for an unexpected visit. Despite Paula and Darryl’s attempts to prevent him from going in his son’s office, Mr. Plimpton (David Grant Wright) finds Nathaniel taking his man nap. Nathaniel jumps up and tries to explain that he is sick. But his father doesn’t want to hear it, plus what is his son wearing? “You look like an unsuccessful oil tycoon,” Mr. Plimpton says. “We’ll discuss this later when I can safely breathe through my nose.” He leaves. Nathaniel sinks back down on the couch dejected as he notices Maya, Darryl and Paula all watching. “Don’t pity me, I pity you,” shouts Nathaniel, throwing a pillow at them.

Meanwhile, Heather brings Valencia to the house she shares with Rebecca. Valencia sees all the wedding stuff scattered around. “Rebecca, what happened in here? Did you murder a wedding?” Valencia asks. Rebecca admits defeat as a wedding planner. The next day in the breakroom with Maya and Nathaniel, Rebecca tells them she gives up in planning her wedding. What does it matter anyway? Her mother didn’t want to help her and her father is not even going to show up. The look on Nathaniel face is one of concern for Rebecca and her feelings of hurt. Valencia arrives with her wedding book, a huge white binder labeled The Wedding Book. “I brought you a wedding,” Valencia tells Rebecca. Valencia realizes that even with The Wedding Book that Rebecca would still mess it up so she decides that she will be Rebecca’s wedding planner. “I’m going to give you the wedding of my dreams,” Valencia says.

Josh arrives at Rebecca’s wearing the forest green tuxedo. He is surprised to see Valencia, who announces that she is planning their wedding. “What are you wearing?” Valencia asks “You look like the guest of honor at a park ranger gala.” Valencia has a tuxedo fitting scheduled for Josh in the morning. The next day at the law firm, Patrick has a delivery for Rebecca. Paula thanks him for calling her about Rebecca’s situation. “I thought you’d want to know,” Patrick says. “I always want to know,” Paula replies. She brings the box to Rebecca, who’s surprised that it’s from Naomi. Inside is the most beautiful, perfect wedding gown. We see a scene in which Paula called Naomi and yelled at Rebecca’s mother for not helping her daughter with the wedding. Paula then ordered Naomi to go to an expensive bridal boutique, whip out her credit card, buy a gown in size 6 and send it overnight. But to Rebecca, Paula says, “Sometimes mothers just know.” Rebecca tries on the wedding dress at home. “It’s disturbing how normal you look in that,” Heather comments. Next, is the bridal shower. Valencia is really good at this and outdid herself.

The next day at the office, Rebecca gets a happy surprise – her father. It seems that Nathaniel sent a private plane to pick up Mr. Bunch (John Allen Nelson) and bring him to West Covina.

Meanwhile, Trent (Paul Welsh) sees Josh and Rebecca’s wedding website and says “Over my dead body.”
