Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I enjoy combining jazz and classical with current EDM music so the result is familiar but still fresh. I also love pop songs that everyone can relate to and sing along with.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I love a lot of the current EDM scene like Zedd, Calvin Harris, Tiesto and as far back as a little kid learning to play the trumpet I’ve loved the greats of jazz and the trumpet like Dizzy Gillespie, Al Hirt, Miles Davis and Herb Alpert. I listen to all styles of music and tend to take a little influence form everything!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Now or Never.”

A) I was asked to write and produce the theme song for the new movie about rhino poachers in South Africa called BLOODLINE: Now Or Never. I took the story of the song form the movie’s main character, a sort of African Rambo guy who sets out to avenge the murder of his family by the poachers and their ugly cartel. So, the song became the empowerment from the character’s point of view where he had to rise to the occasion and fight back now!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) People tell me they feel uplifted by the positive feel and lyrics. Then there’s a haunting trumpet line that gets into your ear and hopefully it never leaves.[winks]

Q) How did you come to work with April Diamond on the track?

A) I brought April in to sing with me because it needed a woman’s touch and she and I have produced several songs the last few years and I knew what she could add.

Q) What is your song writing process?

A) I often hear a song developing in my head and it forms itself from ideas to a full on lyric and melody before I even start recording. Sometimes it can take place in a more traditional way where we start with a beat and develop that to a solid foundation for the song, and write like that too.

Q) Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I can work either way. I love words because they can really create an imagery in our heads from the exact ones we choose. For example, I wanted to find a way to say I, the singer, is on a road to my own destiny and that it’s a sacred path. What I found was the line: “No reason to look back now, I’m ready for my destined hallow.” I’ve not heard “hallow” used like this, but you can figure out that it means a sacred path of destiny. The Lord’s Prayer includes “Hallowed be thy name.” Because of my constant trumpet playing throughout my life, I have fresh melodies running through my brain all day. So, that’s an easy part for me to add to the lyrics.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I tend to control every note so I either Produce all of it or collaborate on part. Robert Eibach is known for hugely successful remixes form Selena Gomez to April Diamond’s and may top Billboard hits. He and I have worked together many times and we did on this production.

Q) What can fans expect from a live David Longoria performance?

A) You’re gonna have a blast! We bring a fun and energetic show to our concerts and big EDM appearances. Usually we bring dancers and guest singers all who add to the fun of the show. I hope you will laugh and feel the music!

Q) Can fans expect a full EP or album in the near future?

A) We released The Journey this past year and it’s been doing really well with fans all over the world. We have been introducing the first singles to radio now with the help of Dallas Lovato joining me on a fun dance floor song called “Playground.” That’ll be coming out at the end of this month with a new video. There’s a special new BONUS version of the album called The Ultimate Journey with new songs and several new vocalists added that’ll be dropping this Spring!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love both arenas like The Staples Center as well as more intimate venues like The Palms Nightclub in Las Vegas. Each brings a different energy and keeps me on my toes as a performer. I also enjoyed performing at the world famous New York Concert spot Carnegie Hall and that was completely fresh for me after doing so many fun EDM club shows.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I have a few great surprises coming up on the BONUS album that are a lot of fun! But in the future I would love to do something with Zedd and Christina Aguilera, Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift. I think we will shake up the music world when we do!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I love so much music! This week I pulled out the new Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and anything that has passion and some meaning to the songs.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) They tell me what they connect to and if there’s something they feel like they miss, I wanna know about it. It’s a great feeling to know they were touched by the sound of the trumpet or the lyrics moved them or especially when something of mine inspires them. I like to offer special things for them from passes to discounts and secret events as well. I have a secret VIP club that fans can text DAVID to 88202 and they get all the goodies and info for free on their phone.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you thank you thank you!! Without the support of fans who enjoy my music, I’d just be practicing in my front yard again. Come see and show and say hi!
