Diane – Big Brother 7

By  |

Q.  What have you been up to since we last saw you on “Big Brother”?

A.  Well, a whole lot of nothing.  I’m just teasing.  No, actually I’ve been living out in California, just exploring myself, trying to find myself.  I think I’ve done a pretty good job of it.  Getting my hands on any work I can get, extra work, which might be the worst job in the world that you can possibly have and I wouldn’t advise it to anybody.  I am planning on staying out here and after this I think it’s going to be a little bit better the second time around.  I’ve got more connections, I know more people, I know people in higher places.  I’m going to run with this the second time around and just see if I can stay out there somewhere.  Not trying to be the next reality star trying to be a famous actress, that’s not my intentions at all. I’d love to stay in the entertainment business somehow if I can.

Q.  So we won’t be seeing you on “Fear Factor” any time soon then?

A.  No, no more reality shows, however I would do “Amazing Race.”  I will say that, other than that I’m going to say no to the rest unless it’s “Newlyweds” with me and Nick Lachey part two.  That’d be awesome.

Q.  Between you wanting to do “Amazing Race” and Jase wanting to do “Survivor,” I guess CBS is doing well for themselves.

A.  I think we were just cast on the wrong show from the start.  Like Jase said, Jase is definitely cut out for “Survivor” and not so much “Big Brother.”  I think that I’d be better at “Amazing Race” because my friends already call me a human compass. The day I moved to California, my friends would get lost and call me up and I’d have to lead them where to go.  I’m not even from here!  I think I could be pretty good at that.

Q.  I guess that means you’re not going to go back to Kentucky and live with your sister after all?

A.  No way!  But, I am getting on a plane tonight and going to Kentucky to spend the next couple weeks with my family.  Use it as a relaxation period and I’m going to go and watch the Cincinnati Bangles  do a little scrimmage tomorrow.  I am really excited about that because I’m a huge football fan.  Just going to relax and be there for a couple of weeks and then come back to LA and get things going.  Shake up the city!

Q.  So, you’ll be living it up now that you don’t have to eat slop anymore?

A.  Oh my gosh, you have no idea!  Last night, besides the bag of chips that I ate in my hotel room and a couple cans of soda, and I think I got a banana. I just got back from breakfast and ate like so much food, I couldn’t believe I could put it down.  Last night I was in my hotel room and I could see my rib cage, it was that bad.  So, I was like “I need to eat, and I need to eat fast!”

Q.  Is that why you had the bag of chips with your suitcase?

A.  Yeah, everybody is kind of confused about that.  I’m like “Guys, I haven’t eaten in seven days, of course I’m going to take a bag of chips to go!”

Q.  Yeah, I noticed that ,but then remembered you’ve been on slop for a good while.  I was sure you were going to chow down on those chips.

A.  Oh my gosh yeah, as soon as I got done talking to Julie we went straight down to the green room and I ripped the bag right open.  I literally fasted for seven days and didn’t eat anything.  So, I was so hungry!

Q.  Sounds like the Marcellas diet!

A.  I know! I did it and it worked.  I only got sick one out of the seven days, it was a pretty good fast.

Q.  That can’t be too good for competitions though, lack of energy isn’t great for concentration.

A.  It definitely wasn’t good.  You can ask Will even, if you ever get the chance, I think it hurt the two of us the worst.  You would wake up and your body would be numb and you would want to sleep all day.  You’d feel so frail and weak and just exhausted!  It was such a nasty feeling to have and we were lucky to have peanut butter and jelly in our past years. They really stepped it up with the whole slop thing this year.

Q.  What made you want to come back and be a part of the show?

A.  I really had such a wonderful time and such a great experience on season five.  Even though, at the time I really didn’t know why I had such a great time, but I did.  When All Stars came around, it was just such an honor to be even asked to do the show and especially to be voted back in by America.  I thought that it would be as great as it was the first time and then I realized fast that when you go in and play by yourself it’s a lot different.

Q.  Yeah, you’ve got a group of players from season six and you’ve got Will and Boogie from their season.  That’s a big disadvantage and you don’t know about it until you go in the house.

A.  Yeah, you have no idea.  No idea what so ever, for me that was the toughest part.

Q.  You mentioned having such a great time around the first time. Does that mean you’ve forgiven Drew for taking Cowboy to the finals?

A.  You know it took me a while but I think about maybe six months after the show ended there was total forgiveness.  Any “Big Brother” player will tell you that when you get off the show you go through a cycle of emotions.  Month by month you go through hurt, anger, pain, depression, happiness and acceptance.  I finally got to the acceptance point and got to talk to Drew and was like, “Wow, congratulations.  You played a better game then I did.  I can’t shame you for that.”  Drew and I are very good friends and I adore his brother even more.  They’re great kids.

Q.  Sounds like you went through the “Big Brother” 12 Step Program.

A.  Yes, in fact, I like that.  I’m going to have to start talking about that.  Diane’s “Big Brother” 12 Step Program.  The second time around was much easier though because we all knew it was a game.  We were like, “Eh, whatever.”  It was actually more of a luxury to get kicked out then it was to stay in.  “Kick me out guys, I’m ready to go!”

Q.  You mentioned Janelle carrying a grudge from outside the house.  Do you think it’s right to carry things like that into the game?

A.  No, absolutely not.  Coming from somebody who actually played an emotional game on my season, seeing what it did to me, it was an All Star show.  Everybody being super intelligent, that’s the reason you’re on the show, for the most part.  People should know better not to let outside personal things influence your game play because it’s all about strategy.  For her to take something so stupid out on me and make the game personal, and target me from day one because of it, for four weeks I’ve been fighting an uphill battle that I couldn’t win.  All because she’s a jealous hoebag, it wasn’t fair and I’m sorry she had to play that way.  I think that sucks and obviously sucks more for me so what can I say about it now.

Q.  She made it out like you were this huge threat.  I thought it was the funniest thing because you really didn’t have any power compared to Boogie or Will.

A.  Right, that’s the first that I’ve heard that and I totally agree with you that I’ve never had power to begin with, how can I take anybody out.  And you can go up just as easily on the block by somebody else not me.  So, it was a personal thing and I am glad that people see that for the most part.  Sucks for me!

Q.  You were one person and it is kind of hard to be a mastermind when you’re alone.

A.  I know right, I’m such a dangerous player.  Every week I was strategizing all by myself!  I love it, it’s so funny.

Q.  You were the least likely person to do anything.  It’s like a harmless fly that can’t do anything, but the spiders gang up on the harmless fly anyway.

A.  I know what does that mean? Does that mean I’m a good player?  That people are scared of me?  What does that even mean?

Q.  Seems like the other players were sheep doing her bidding because they didn’t want a target on their back.

A.  Exactly, you’re the first person to say that and I think you’ve actually hit it right on the nose.  You’re absolutely right!  You couldn’t have said that better, a lot of people were just so scared and I know the voting week by week has become a self protection thing.  I understand that but there is going to be a point in the game where you’re going to have to play for you.  People are going to have start growing spines and just playing the game.  It was sad to everybody lay down and do nothing when they wanted to do something.  It’s such a shame, I didn’t want to be a part of that anyways.

Q.  I guess that’s another reason why Janelle wanted to target you, you wouldn’t do her bidding.

A.  Yeah, there is no way I’m going to be that girl’s bitch!

Q.  With coming back into the house, did you have a strategy before entering?

A.  Nope, no strategy this time around.  I figured with an All Star show like that, there are so many talks of a pre-existing alliances everywhere that, wouldn’t it be kind of dumb to go in with a strategy.  “Big Brother” is a game that you have to play week by week, actually, minute by minute, day by day.  So, a strategy is something you have to form while you’re in there, not something you can really think about other than that.  I tried to run with anything I could, but I felt like everybody else already had alliances and therefore it kind of sticks you by yourself.  You feel like there is not a whole lot you can do.

Q.  Did you do anything to prepare yourself for the game?

A.  No, I read a really good book that someone else had originally told me about, but I had actually bought the book before he told me about it.  But, that’s the one he read and it was a really good book and it’s called The Forty-Eight Laws of Power.  You can definitely associate the whole thing with the game but in the long run nothing really helped.  The game is a lot about luck and how you portray yourself and how good you can manipulate yourself basically.

Q.  You were always so good with the trivia and memory competitions.  Why do you think you weren’t so successful this time around with the Head of Household competitions?

A.  I don’t know, I felt like there were a lot of smart people in there and in my season, there weren’t as many in the house.  I don’t know, a lot of the games this year were games where you could eliminate each other straight from the get-go.  Unfortunately, people were always eliminating me first. So, a lot of those HOH’s I didn’t even have a chance to win because I would immediately get eliminated.  That kind of brought my game down unfortunately.

Q.  Was there someone before entering the house that you really wanted to see be a part of the All Stars?

A.  You know out of all those people, I didn’t really know any of them.  But, I really wanted to see this Dana chick in the house, Dana from season four.  Because, I had a small run in with her with an Internet chat that I did, and I just thought she was awesome.  And the way she talked, she just reminded me a lot of myself.  And I figured, if there would be anybody that I would have a connection in the house with, it would be the Dana girl.  But, she didn’t make it into the house and I was really sad about that.  She seemed like a super cool person that I wanted to get to know.  In fact, I think I’m going to try and dig up her number and try and call her anyways.

Q.  There were a few people included that I didn’t think would be too much of a fan favorite.

A.  Oh, there were a few people standing up there that I was like, “Oh, who are you? I have never even seen you before.”

Q.  Does this mean that this year you’re no longer going to be auctioning off a phone call with you on Ebay?

A.  Yeah, the phone calls were something that we threw out and I thought it would be cute to get to talk to a few people.  But, then once I realized that people were willing to pay two hundred dollars for a phone call, I started to feel really bad about it.  I am the type of person who calls my fans anyways, I’ve made three very wonderful friends out of three original fans.  So, I don’t know if I can do that whole Ebay’ing off phone calls this year.  I think I’m just going to give them all for charity.

Q.  I guess I’m lucky then, I get the wonderful opportunity to talk to you for free and to be one of the first ones!

A.  Yep, you’re fourth on my list woman!  You’re awesome to talk to, thanks for being so upbeat.  I know it’s hard to be upbeat this early in the morning.  There are a few people that I talked to on the phonethat are not so fun and it makes an interview really hard.

Q.  Do you think that you had one big mistake in the game that led to your eviction or do you think it was just running with Janelle’s idea that you were a huge threat?

A.  I honestly think that because of this whole me being a mastermind with Janelle, her thinking that, I just think it was something that was always going to be there.  I was always going to be a target and I hung in there as long as I could.  This was my week to go, there wasn’t anything I could do to really stop it.  I am not mad, yeah I hate Janelle and think she’s a fat hoebag, but other than that I’m pretty happy with the outcome.  It was my time to go and I went.  Trust me, she and I are definitely not going to be friends after the show.  I am somebody who can forgive most people for everything.  But, I just don’t care for her and I would be very content that we don’t speak.  I have a feeling that mostly everybody coming off the show is not going to want to do anything with her either.  I can’t wait til she gets to see the show and how everybody views her.  I think she thinks that she is sitting pretty in the house and she has no idea that she’s getting ready to be tossed right out.  I sound so mean, normally I’m not this mean, she’s just a bitch and she sucks!
