Eric Bellinger – Choose Up Season

By  |

Q) You released your new mixtape Choose Up Season. What is the feel and vibe for it?

A) Choose Up Season is all about the single life. I wanted to make a project that walked people throughout the dating game and how it works in my eyes. I wanted to discuss the pros and cons before I went into my album Cuffing Season.

Q) What made you decide to go with a themed mixtape?

A) I just wanted to do something different. I feel like not too many people are telling stories anymore and since I have a really strong background in songwriting, I figured why not take advantage of that talent. Especially since I write so many songs for other artists, people tend to pay more attention to my lyrics.

Q) How much hand did you have in the production side of the album?

A) I didn’t make any of the beats on the project. Just wrote on this one.

Q) What is your process for writing songs? Do you need music to write lyrics?

A) I definitely prefer to write to tracks. I draw inspiration from the music. I can write without beats, but I just feel like the best way to get a feeling and catch a vibe is to have that music. Otherwise, you’re pulling from nothing!

Q) How did the idea to include single artwork with each song come about?

A) That was something me and the team came up with just to give the fans more to connect with. We live in a visual world now days so we decided to make a visual tracklist. We wanted people to not only hear snippets of the music when they saw the titles, but also get a picture image to go along with it to help them see the story clearly.

Q) What are some of your favorite songs from the album?

A) I love “Valet” a lot. It’s the turn up, but its so original. I haven’t heard anyone touch on the valet in a song. I also really love “Casual.” I think that song is a different vibe for me, but it allowed me to show the people another side of me.

Q) What can fans expect to see at a live Eric Bellinger performance?

A) My shows are full of energy, choreography, lots of vocals and just a fun time!

Q) You use social media. Why is it so important for you to connect with fans that way?

A) I just feel like it’s a different day and age. Everything is so accessible now. Back in the day, it was cool to be a mystery or never know where Michael Jackson was or what he was doing. But now days, it’s out of sight out of mind. People can be entertained by someone else if you’re not gonna do it.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) I just wanna say thanks to everyone for the support and to stick around because were just getting started!!!
