Francesco Yates – Call

By  |

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would have to describe the sound of my music as pop at the root, with pieces of alternative R&B and soul influence throughout.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My influences come from the past as well as the present. I love the classics like Queen, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder for example, but I also love contemporary artists like Drake, The Weeknd and Pharrell Williams as well.

Q) What was the inspiration for your new single “Call” and how will resonate with fans?

A) I think that song is about being patient with someone you love who may not be in the right place at the right time to receive it. This is what the unconditional part of love is all about and I think that is something that a lot of people go through in relationships and life in general.

Q) You are headed out on tour with SoMo soon. What can fans expect from a live performance?

A) I come hoping to bring a high energy performance to each city on the tour and to entertain through good music and bringing good vibes! If I can do that, I will feel like I’ve done my job. I’m excited to meet SoMo and be out on the road. This is my first tour.

Q) You performed on Pharrell’s song “Gust of Wind.” What was it like working with him?

A) Pharrell inspired me to be fearless and not question my instincts when making songs. He is a true advocate for being yourself. He stood up for me playing the electric guitar at a time when I was unsure of myself and my music. For believing in me and teaching me that lesson alone, I commend him.

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) Follow me on Twitter and Instagram and you can check out my stuff on YouTube – all @FrancescoYates. I’d also say spread the news and my music by word of mouth, that’s how I find out about most of the artists I listened to. I have an amazing fan base and I hope that it continues to grow along with me. A simple share or tweet helps and I love connecting with fans online.

Q) You are a part of social networking sites. Why is it important for you to connect with fans that way?

A) The cool thing about social media is it gives people all the details as to where I’ll be and what I’m doing. And I think it’s important to have that bond with people who like my music, for them to feel like they are never missing anything. Everyone, whether they are a fan of mine or not, can become a part of my story and follow my journey online.

Q) You were recently named as part of Uniqlo’s Global “Faces of Fall/Winter 2014” campaign. What does that mean to you?

A) I’m honored that Uniqlo let me be a part of this campaign! What’s cool about Uniqlo is that their clothes are all made of organic materials and their t-shirts are the most comfortable that I have ever worn! I never thought I would be the face of anything so it’s pretty special and I appreciate the experience. It’s surreal to be a part of a campaign or have your face on a giant billboard.

Q) Where can fans go online to learn more about you?

A) I’d say the best places to check me out are on Twitter, Youtube and Instagram!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to say thank you! Sincerely. This is the beginning of my journey and I hope you will be there with me to experience it all together, lets take on this wild ride!
