“Girl Meets World” is in its best season yet! I am loving this season and their storylines. I love the character choices that are being made. Girl Meets True Maya was a sweet episode. Let’s dive right in!

No explodey!

Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) is back and Riley (Rowan Blanchard) is scared that she will explode like a volcano and do something bad. She expresses this concern to her at the very beginning of the episode in the bay window before school. Riley knows she is planning something, but doesn’t know what just yet.

Once at school, Mr. Matthews (Ben Savage) begins his lesson on Pompeii and the dangers and comforts of living next to a volcano. The fire alarm goes off and Riley thinks that Maya has done it, even though she was next to her during the whole class period. Lucky for us…It wasn’t Maya. Just an error in the system. So what does Maya have planned?

Oh Doy!

Tonight’s “b-plot” was all about Doy (Cooper J. Friedman). THIS KID IS SO MUCH! He is fun, energetic and annoying, but funny. Turns out he is a bit of a candy kleptomaniac. He has been stealing candy from the store everyday for the past year because he didn’t know any better. Topanga (Danielle Fishel) offers to go with him to the store so he can apologize.

You want the Maya I really am? You got her.

The gang minus Zay (Amir Mitchell-Townes) and Smakle (Cecilia Balagot) are all at Topanga’s Café where they discuss Maya and how she is trying to find herself. Katy (Cheryl Texiera) freaks out because it seems that she is missing $100 in her cash drawer. She asks the gang who took it and they all turn on Maya. But Maya didn’t do this. It turns out that Katy just put the money under the drawer and forgot about it. But the fact that they all thought she was capable of this theft makes her reevaluate the Maya that she wants to be.

DOOOOOYYYYYYYYYY

Well, Doy apologized BUT his parents now have to pay the shop owner $300. The cop that was in this episode was very nice. He was stern yet calm, grumpy yet lovable. I was impressed by him.

Places, like people, offer wonderful peaks and valleys

Maya skips class just when Cory perfects his lecture. Ugghhh! He teaches the class that the people of Pompeii took the chance to live there because they had hope that it wouldn’t explode and for centuries they were right. So where is Maya?

I know exactly who I am.

It seems Maya is planning something devious. She shows up to a park she used to go to a lot before she met Riley. She has brought a brick, a hammer and spray paint with her. So what is she planning?

Well, whatever it was it was put on hold when two girls that she used to hang around with showed up and tried pressure her into breaking a statue. She can’t do it. They say a lot of things about Riley that are not very nice. They also say that Maya has gone soft. But Maya is perfect. So perfect that she gives them a good scare. But did she do something else?

The friends we choose can have the most profound influence in our entire lives. One way or another.

The officer from earlier brings her to the Matthews household where all of her family and friends are waiting. The officer tells them that he caught her vandalizing the park. He makes them take a trip to the park where they see that she did vandalize it with art. It was graffiti, but it was art none the less. She tells them about the girls and that they tried to pressure her, but she couldn’t because Riley has taught her to be good.

The cop decides to misplace the incident as long as Maya stays out of trouble. I have a feeling that she will., especially with all the positive influences in her life.

We end the episode with her friends by her side in the park and recreating the statue that we saw earlier.

Come back here next week when I recap Girl Meets Ski Lodge: Part 1. The synopsis states, “The kids take a trip to Mount Sun Lodge where Cory cheated on Topanga. The ski lodge is known to be cursed.” I can’t wait to see these next few episodes!
