“Hindsight is always 20/20. It’s easy to figure out what you should have done when you replay it.” – Meredith

Warren (Jason George) is adamantly denying that he heard and saw the elevator open before operating. He is trying to explain to the committee that when you are attempting to save a life you are in a zone and they should understand why he would be oblivious to anything outside of the patient. Hey Warren, denial isn’t just a river in Egypt…He and Miranda do make a pact though to keep things separate between “church and state” – home life separate from work life.

In another area of the hospital we find Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) smiling and texting away. When Jo (Camilla Luddington) calls her out she explains Kyle from last week (Wilmer Valderrama…sigh) has been sexting her and has plans to meet up with her when he returns from tour. We also find April (Sarah Drew) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) meeting with an attorney to discuss the removal of the restraining order she’d put on Jackson (Jesse Williams). The attorney doesn’t want to listen and actually thinks April has given her some good information to use against him. Plus, it’s time for Penny (Samantha Sloyan) to make a decision on her Preminger Grant. She has to decide whether or not she wants to move to New York, which would maybe mean the end of her relationship with Callie (Sara Ramirez). Neither wants to ask the other to give up something so important in their lives (the grant and Callie’s job) so they are letting pride get in the way of their honesty.

April arrives at Arizona’s home feeling funny. She was on her way to work when she started feeling something odd in her stomach and headed to Arizona’s since it was closer. The two head over to the hospital together where April gets an ultrasound. As my mother would say, “Mazel Tov!” or Congratulations. We find out that baby “Japril” is actually healthy and that the funny feeling was the baby moving. Because of the health issues with their son Samuel, April had never felt her baby move before, but this little bean appears to be just fine.

After a night of fogging up the bedroom windows, Callie and Penny are having a post-coital conversation about the grant. Penny doesn’t want to ask Callie to uproot herself and Callie can’t ask Penny to give up an opportunity of a lifetime. This is where I have to say I enjoyed seeing the maturity of Callie come forth. Years ago she didn’t have the guts to tell Arizona she didn’t want to move to Africa, but she’s finally found her voice and has a frank conversation with Penny. In a sweet scene, Callie decides to follow her heart and that’s going to have her following Penny to New York.

At the hospital, Omar begins to fade. They contact Bailey at home to come back since she was so close to the family. When she gets there, she finds him coding. The family has just headed downstairs to eat, but Bailey (Chandra Wilson)  doesn’t want to bring them back. Instead, she decides to revive Omar – DNR be damned.

Jackson reads over his pre-nup and seems to be frustrated. He heads over to the hospital to speak with April and explain that when the two of them wrote it that they were best friends. He says they made decisions back then as BFFs so he’d like them to handle the future of their baby that way, too. In an absolutely heart melting moment, April offers Jackson the chance to feel their baby moving.

Outside of the hospital, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) meets with Riggs. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) has told her that Owen (Kevin McKidd) filled her in on what it is about him that makes his blood boil. She also says that Riggs (Martin Henderson) explained himself, but left out some important details. It is here that with all due respect and as polite as possible, she wants to know why Riggs lied to her sister. If you didn’t like him before, you’ll like him less now as he explains he didn’t lie – he just left out some details that are still painful regrets for him.

Decision time is here and we learn that Warren has received a six-month suspension. He accepts it when he thinks it means he’s simply barred from operating for six months, but then gets angry when he finds out it is a suspension from the entire hospital. He wants to know why Miranda didn’t stand up for him and get him special treatment. Pouring salt into his wound, she explains that she actually wanted to fire him, but was talked out of it.

Callie arrives in a good mood to the hospital. She finds Arizona to tell her the good news that she’ll be moving to New York. A crestfallen Arizona isn’t so pleased. Bailey heads over to Omar to check in and finally catches her first break of the extended episode – he’s awake! Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) explains that by some miracle – a once in a lifetime experience – Omar is actually awake. At least she has one foot out of the fire.

The episode ends on a somber note though similar to the theme the entire evening. Unfortunately, we find Arizona meeting with April’s custody attorney looking to prevent Callie from taking Sophia to New York.
