Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I just recently completed two more episodes of “Fresh Off The Boat” and, of course, I’m always auditioning for new roles in commercials, TV and film.

Q) Please tell us how your character Alison on “Fresh Off The Boat” was described to you for your audition.

A) Alison was described as a “classy, yet street, pretty girl.” In the first script, she was a girl playing rap music on a piccolo!

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) You always want to have a whole picture of who your character really is. So, I viewed her as an all-around American girl-next-door who has a little edge, but is still sweet and bubbly. I have a lot of fun playing Alison because I feel she is a lot like me, but she just knows more 90’s rap. One little cool fact is that I get to pick out her hair barrettes for each scene!

Q) Alison is Eddie’s love interest on the show. What was it like for you working with Hudson Yang?

A) He’s so much fun! He has a ton of energy and always has a smile on his face. There is never a dull moment on set and I think we keep each other laughing.

Q) What are some of your most memorable moments from filming the show?

A) Of course, meeting Hudson for the first time was great. I got to tell him I was his new girlfriend. Not something you normally do in real life! [laughs] I have had the opportunity to work with some great guest stars like DMX and others that I can’t mention because they haven’t aired yet!

Q) What did you take away from your experiences on “Fresh Off The Boat?”

A) What an awesome opportunity it has been to be on a prime time, highly regarded, network show! I’ve learned so much from my fellow actors, the directors, the cameramen, the producers…everyone has impacted me professionally and personally. I’ve become a better actress and made some great friends, too. Who could ask for more?

Q) We’re also seeing you on “Gortimer Gibbons” as May. Is comedic timing something that comes naturally to you or have you had to work at it?

A) Comedic timing comes pretty easily for me, but I am no Tina Fey yet! I take classes in improve to keep me thinking on my feet.

Q) What show would you most like to make an appearance on and why?

A) “Grey’s Anatomy” would be awesome, but you have to accept that your character is probably going to die! Seriously though, the cast is excellent and the writers are able to show every range of emotion in one hour.

Q) You are a part of social media. Do you enjoy the instant fan feedback you receive when your episodes air?

A) Of course, I love it! It keeps me motivated! It makes the hard work and the long days worth it.

Q) What is a recent obsession of yours? A book? A movie? A sport? A band?

A) I’ve always had a major obsession with dogs. I will probably be the “dog lady” someday! My new obsession though is singing. I have a little natural talent and I’ve found a good coach who is helping me make the most of my voice.

Q) Where can fans go online to learn more about you?

A) I love my fans and want to hear from them! I can be found on Instagram at @IsabellaAlexander and on Twitter at @ItsIsabellaAlex.
