Jakob Davies – If I Stay

By  |

Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I have four movies being released this year, which are  If I Stay, The Birdwatcher, The Young and Prodigious TS Spivet and Hector and the Search for Happiness. I recently filmed a recurring role on the TV show “Supernatural.”

Q) Please tell us the premise for your film If I Stay and about your character Teddy Hall.

A) If I Stay is a love story, but not just between Mia (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Adam (Jamie Blackley). It’s about Mia’s love and dedication to the cello, her family and friends. Teddy is Mia’s younger brother and is probably the most similar to his parents and their love of punk/rock music. He is a very happy kid who is growing up with lots of love, support and play. The family is very musical and it is a very important theme to this movie.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the movie?

A) I wanted to work with Chloë because I am a fan of her movie Kick Ass. I was so nervous in the auditions. When I finally met director R.J. Cutler, he made me forget I was even auditioning and everything kind of clicked.

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) Teddy became a real football fan in the movie (like I am in real life). I think that R.J. really let the actors bond off set. So, we all brought a lot of caring and closeness to one another that really shines through in each character

Q) You costar with Chloë Grace Moretz. What was it like working with her?

A) She is very disciplined and hard working. Not only is she in nearly every scene, but she was in school as well. She went from set to school without any breaks! Chloë, her mom Teri and brother Trevor are so nice. They make everyone feel welcome.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments from filming the movie?

A) I think playing catch with Jamie Blackley in between takes was my favorite off set memory. We played football and soccer every day. We might have stressed out the wardrobe people who were worried that we might rip our clothes or get them dirty. My favorite scene in the movie is when we were all around the bonfire. Wait to you see it, you will love it too!

Q) What was some advice you took away from working with director R.J. Cutler?

A) R.J. was one of the easiest directors ever to work with. He explained what he wanted to see and hear in a way that was really easy for me to understand and take notes. I think I learned from him that things do not have to be complicated to be really good.

Q) What do you think it is about If I Stay that will make people want to go and see it?

A) The author, Gayle Forman, already has a huge following for her novels, but I also think people who really want to see a great love story between Adam and Mia, the special bond of the Hall family and a fantastic soundtrack. The music in this movie is incredible!

Q) Where can people go online to learn more about you?

A) I am a huge Instagram and Twitter fan. I can be found at @jakobdavies, where I have a lot of behind the scenes pictures and personal ones with family and friends.
