Jane the virgin? Jane’s promise to wait until marriage is up for revision in this episode. She’s a mother now and she’s ready to do the deed with somebody – at least she thinks she is. After a sizzling date with her former college advisor Jonathan (Adam Rodriguez), she decides that he seems like the best person to do it with. He’s sexy, their chemistry is crackling, and he’s leaving in a few months so she won’t have the opportunity to get attached and romanticize him, as she’s known to do.

Things are getting heated between the two back at his place. Mid-makeout, he tells Jane (Gina Rodriguez) he hasn’t been with anyone since his divorce. Although she initially hadn’t planned on saying anything, she blurts out that she’s a virgin. But it’s totally not a big deal she tells him, just a promise she made to her grandmother years ago. Jonathan seems to think it might be a big deal though and all the talk of her grandma kind of killed the mood for him. If only that were the only awkward situation Jane faced this episode…

Rafael (Justin Baldoni) asks Jane for help with Petra (Yael Grobglas) in picking out products for their kids. Jane’s too nice to say no and before she knows it winds up offering to throw Petra a baby shower, because, well, no one else will. Spending time together looking at everything baby related from pacifiers to breast pumps just reinforces how different these two women are. Oil and water, quite literally that was their drink orders at the restaurant. Petra complains to Rafael that Jane’s judging her and flaunting her and Raf’s relationship in front of her when he tells her enough, they were just trying to help. It then comes out that he was the one who asked Jane to give Petra some advice. Petra lashes out at Jane that she doesn’t want her pity and tells her that she and Rafael kissed the other day. Jane balks at the suggestion that she wants to be with Rafael. Petra suggest maybe she tell him that, which she does. When Jane tells him what happened with Petra he reveals he’s still in love with her. Jane doesn’t feel the same though. Rafael says they were in love once, why not again? Her feelings have changed though and she closes the door on a possible reconnection.

Jane goes ahead with the baby shower, only for Petra to not show up. Jane marches up to Petra’s room and attempts to convince her to come down. They have it out that they both don’t like each other very much. However, it’s important to both that they maintain a relationship for their children’s sake and they agree to be honest with each other and avoid nice falsities.

Jane gets a second chance with Jonathan when he texts her and the two engage in a bit of playful sexting. When he tells her to get over there, she jumps in the car pantless. She was a little too eager though, and winds up pulled over by a cop for speeding, one who reminds her of Michael (Brett Dier) and tells her not to have sex. She tries to brush past it though and still heads to Jonathan’s. They’re kissing when Jane full on bursts out into tears. She tries to keep going but she can’t, which he’s kind enough to recognize.

Meanwhile, Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil) are trying to see if their relationship can survive the fact that she doesn’t want anymore children, while he very much does. After some thinking (and the confession to Xo that he was an accidental former gigolo) he decides that a life with her is more important to him than anything else, including genetically blessed children. He does request that Xo consider freezing her eggs though, just in case she changes her mind. She seems skeptical, but agrees. As the episode progresses though she realizes that she’s not going to change her mind about the issue, but she doesn’t want Rogelio to have to give up his dream of having more kids so she she gives him back the ring.

It wouldn’t be Jane the Virgin if there wasn’t some exciting crime-related subplot going on as well. With the chip in their possession finally cracked Michael and Susanna (Megan Ketch) are able to start finding the criminals whose faces Sin Rostro/Rose and Mutter altered. The first guy they bring in was a gorgeous former Russian killer, turned average mild mannered American with no crime record. They tell him they know his true identity and ask him to contact Sin Rostro so they can bring her down at last, a goal very important to Michael. Little do they know that she’s already aware the chip is in police hands. However, they’re able to track Rose down after all with her one weakness: Luisa (Yara Martinez). After revealing to Rafael that she’s been in contact with Rose and being rejected, she falls off the wagon and has a drink, leading to a car accident. While in the hospital she’s visited by Rose who wanted to make sure she’s okay and as the two begin a plan to run away together, it’s revealed Michael is watching via video and Susanna comes out with a gun. Rose isn’t intimidated though and reveals she knows all about Susanna’s family and with one word she’ll have an associate kill her younger brother. In a panic, Susanna hands over gun and winds up a hostage. Rose makes her way past the police and Susanna is shot in the shoulder in the process. When Michael finally finds Rose, she’s dead. Strangled, presumably by Mutter.

On her doorstep that night Jane receives her second love confession of the episode, this time from Michael. He tells her Rose is dead. It’s over and she and Mateo are finally safe. He shares the reason he had pushed her away was because he’s been working on the case, but now that the investigation’s through they can be together. He asks her simply if she still loves him. Her answer: “Yes.”

It’s a super sweet moment for all us Team Michael fans out there. And with the promise of Jane walking down the aisle at some point this season and Jane’s new loosened view on her commitment to virginity, who knows what will happen next? Also, Mutter is still out on the loose so perhaps Michael was a bit premature in celebrating the conclusion of the investigation.
