Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I was raised in Houston so I pretty much came up off a lot of Houston music. So, it’s very Southern but also with pronunciation and there is a message to every song. It’s very motivational and the beats go with the lyrics. I feel like anybody across the world can relate to it in some sense. So, I’d pretty much describe it as a Southern universal sound.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Definitely Zero from Houston and Lil Wayne has always been one of my top favorite rappers. Then, I started to listen to a lot of Drake and Childish Gambino. Those four artists kind of molded me into who I am today.

Q) What is the message behind your new song “Name?”

A) “Name” pretty much describes situations where I’ve been out in Hollywood and met a few beautiful women. At that point in time, they weren’t really interested, but now it seems that the tables have turned. Now, I go out and I can’t really remember their name or recognize where I met them from. So, it’s kind of a funny song and braggish, but at the same time it shows I have some love for this certain woman I’m talking about. She’s so beautiful, it’ makes me say, “God damn!” It really happens and I love that song and the message behind it.

Q) You also have the track “All I Ever Wanted” out. What is it about the song that you think fans are connecting to?

A) That beat was my boy and when the beat first comes on it’s high energy and raw. People like that tempo because I usually give more of a Southern vibe type of feeling, but this record just kind of gets you going right away. People like the bars behind it because the rapping and spitting I’m doing on there is kind of raw.

Q) Your new album is My Life Changed. What did the title come from?

A) It branched off of the first CD I released, which was Story of My Life. That kind of told everything it took to be in Hollywood. So, My Life Changed is everything dealing with being out here and being in the industry. It’s dealing with different issues, people and all of that.

Q) You have been spending more time in LA. What have you taken away from your experiences?

A You just want to keep your circle very tight. You want to keep the right friends around you because a lot of people have ulterior motives and you just have to hone in and focus on your craft because the city is kind of designed to distract you and take you away.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I do all my selections. I have A&R that sends me beats and I work one on one with producers in the studio. So, it’s just whatever moves me, moves the room and hits me right away. Then, I just kind of attack it from there.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Jevon Doe performance?

A) Very intimate. High energy. I like to get very interactive with the crowd. I like to start my shows off with an interactive piece that eh crowd is somewhat apart of. I like to look people in their eyes and point to them to let them feel where I’m coming from. These are true stories and all the material I’ve worked on so I want to make sure they’re feeling it. I want fans to walk away from my shows with an experience and a sense of who I am.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way to connect with your fans?

A) I don’t want to be an artist all the time. They can see me personally and see what I’m doing. On Instagram they can check my stories and see what I’m doing all day. On Twitter they can see how I feel about a certain topic or something like that. It’s very important nowadays.

Q) Is there anything else you want to be sure fans know about your music?

A) I recently shot the music video in Houston for “Name.” I actually have a couple more records that I am dropping before the year is out. These are going to be some dope songs and I’m really excited for people to hear them. I’m going to start get “name” rocking on the radio. Everybody stay in tune with what I have coming at the end of this year and the beginning of next year because you’ll be excited. I promise you.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) If you are a fan of me and my music, you know what it is. You know what it took to get here so I really appreciate everyone for even taking the time out to download, stream or even view one of my music videos. I hope I can continually motivate, inspire and give you a message.
