Lauren-Elaine Edleson – Through the Ringer

By  |

Q.  What are some of the current projects that you’ve been working on?

A.  Most recently, which is coming out pretty soon, is The Ringer.  It’s a movie starring Johnny Knoxville and Katherine Heigl and it’s by the Farrelly brothers.  Also, I did a lot of country music videos for artist Dierks Bentley and some independent films that are coming out some time next year.

Q.  What can you tell us about the premise for The Ringer and your character “Brandi”?

A.  The Ringer is a comedy, I think it’s going to be very funny.  The character played by Johnny Knoxville rigs the Special Olympics thinking it will be very easy to win against Special Olympics athletes and he realizes it’s not that simple.  I play “Brandi,” I’m a little bit of a trouble-maker I guess, I’m a waitress who ends up breaking up the relationship between Katherine Heigl and Zen Gesner.  So, I guess I’m not the nicest character.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this project?

A.  What made me really excited about it is that it is produced by the Farrelly brothers, I love all of their movies.  One of my all-time favorite movies is Dumb and Dumberand I was just really excited to get to work with them on this project.  Especially since it was one of my first bigger things, my first thing as far as movies go.  I’m definitely excited about that!

Q.  What was it like getting to work with director Barry Blaustein on this film?

A.  It was a really good experience, both the director Barry Blaustein and the Farrelly brothers were very easy-going, a very low stress environment.  There wasn’t a lot of pressure and they made things fun and not nerve-wracking so everyone was really relaxed.  Everyone kind of goofed off and it was funny to see how they work since I’ve been a fan of their movies for so long. They are exactly how I pictured them.

Q.  Do you have a most memorable moment from working on this movie?

A.  If I had to say one thing it would be meeting Johnny Knoxville for the first time.  I had watched “Jackass” before and I guess I had a little idea of what to expect.  He’s very off-the-wall and he keeps you on your toes.

Q.  Why should viewers take the time to check out this film?

A.  I think it’s going to be really funny and the subject matter may seem a little controversial but I know it has the approval of the Special Olympics.  I think it’s going to be a very funny movie with a good message and it’s a good holiday movie.

Q.  Working on The Ringer and Sin City helped land you a spread in Maxim Magazine.  What can you tell us about the photo shoot and the article that will appear in an upcoming issue?

A.  I flew out to L.A. to do the photo shoot and they were shooting cool pictures and I’m excited to see how they turned out since I haven’t seen any yet.  The article talks about The Ringer and music videos, etc. and it will be interesting to finally see it for myself.  I never really read Maxim before and I’m excited to see it.  I have been told that it will be coming out in January or February 2006.

Q.  What are some of your passions besides acting?

A.  I’m very much into fashion design and I’ve started a small clothing line of my own called Lauren-Elaine Designs.  I am also very into filmmaking, behind the scenes.  I graduated from film production from the University of Texas so eventually in the future I’d love to produce movies or direct movies on my own.  I love all kinds of music and I love being with family and friends.

Q.  What sets your clothing line apart from the others that are out today?

A.  As far as mine goes, I really like to draw on a lot of vintage fashion from the 1950s and I’m very inspired by costumes from movies.  One of my favorite movies is Gone With the Wind and I like a lot of the very, very vintage style clothing.  I think it’s different because it’s very classy but it still has a bit of an edge that’s not super crazy.  I think it has it’s own unique, ornate feeling to it.

Q.  What is your latest obsession?  Are you into any particular book, sport, music group or activity?

A.  Actually, I just read Memoirs of a Geisha and I’m very excited about the movie that’s coming out soon, I can’t wait to see it.  I read it for the first time over Thanksgiving and everybody had told me how good it was.  So, I’m definitely excited about that and I can’t wait to see that.

Q.  What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A.  First I’d like to say thank you and I’m glad that they have enjoyed the projects that I have been a part of, I know I have.  I am glad they are enjoying them and hopefully looking forward to more to come.
