In the fall finale of “Lucifer,” we have many, many heart attack moments – not all of these related to drama filled scenes. Some came in the form of little glimpse of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) and the way their scenes together have changed throughout the course of the first half of the season, to Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) wanting so much to believe what his mother is saying to him to be true and to finally being done with God’s way of controlling him. Quid Pro Ho brought fans to the edges of their seats and then some, begging the question: What’s next for Lucifer and his family drama and what is Chloe’s fate?

When the episode starts, we see Chloe fiddling with her purse while at her car with Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) ready to blow it up. Amenadiel shows up and tells Charlotte that she can’t kill Chloe. Charlotte puts the detonator down her shirt once Amenadiel tells her he will force it away from her. When he takes steps towards Charlotte, she raises him up by his shirt confusing Amenadiel as to how she can use powers. That’s when she notices the car being pulled around for Chloe so she lowers Amenadiel and gets ready to push the button only to have Amenadiel stand in front of her saying that if she kills Chloe that Lucifer won’t rest until he finds out who killed her and when he does he will hate Charlotte forever. He knows that Lucifer killed his own brother to protect her, making this a simple way for Chloe to get away.

When we see Lucifer, he is meeting once again with Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris) who wants Lucifer to explain the date he had with Chloe that he bailed on. Lucifer keeps saying it wasn’t a date and that it was a “snack between friends.” When Linda asks how the food was, Lucifer starts goofing up letting Linda know that he chickened out and once she called him on it he states that, “I’m the devil. I don’t chicken out of anything. I just thought she deserved to enjoy the food without any distractions.” Linda states that he is avoiding the truth and that he is, in fact, lying to himself. Lucifer shows up at Chloe’s apartment saying he owes her an explanation as to why he didn’t show causing Chloe to believe he was with someone else. Before Chloe can have Lucifer leave, Mama Decker (Rebecca De Mornay) comes into the living room and gives him a hug saying, “How thoughtful that he came to support us.” Chloe says she could bet Lucifer didn’t know what was happening. When Lucifer says that he, in fact, knows what was going on and it took Chloe helping (telling) Lucifer that it was the trail for her father’s killer, Deputy Warden Perry Smith (Alex Fernandez).

Back at the station we see Dan (Kevin Alejandro) walking in with coffee in hand, smiling and whistling as he runs into Ella (Aimee Garcia) who picks up on his extra happiness. As she starts doing her own mini investigation of Dan, she concludes that he has gotten laid. He tries to avoid it when he finally says that he is still in shock and that she came back for seconds. When Ella says that maybe she is the one who sent him the mystery package he goes to open it only to find the severed head of Boris Sokolov inside. Dan goes to call Chloe. At the courthouse, Lucifer says that Chloe is a lot like her mother when Chloe walks over to them, informing them of the severed Boris head. Chloe tells her mom that Boris was their key witness and that is the only one who could tie Smith to her father’s death. Soon, Lucifer and Chloe discover Charlotte is the lawyer for Smith.

When they find out Charlotte is the lawyer for Smith, Lucifer tries to calm Chloe down by saying that he’s heard Charlotte was a changed person after her disappearance so maybe she’s not the shark she used to be inside the courtroom. When the judge, Vicky Estrada (Karin Konoval), asks Charlotte if they were going to ask for a dismissal Charlotte is frazzled until she notices a paper. That’s when Prosecutor Earl Steadman (Sharif Atkins) says their case is solid and ready for trial with or without Boris with the agreeance of Charlotte. Lucifer confronts Charlotte when she says that she had to make Lucifer see that the woman he adores doesn’t care about him like he does her. This leads to Charlotte confessing that she was going to blow Chloe up. Just then, Chloe walks up to Lucifer pleading not to let what is happening with him and Charlotte to affect the case. Lucifer, being as angry as he is, agrees and goes and shakes the hand of Earl Steadman.

Back at the station, Chloe is going through files looking for the one on Boris when Dan comes in. Chloe tells him that he didn’t see Charlotte in the courtroom, causing Dan to choke on his own spit. Ella comes in with info regarding Boris saying the killer was sending a good message, “Loose lips get their head clipped.” Ella says that whoever the killer was they were good at their job and she has narrowed down their list of suspects to only one deli shop. When Chloe gets back to the courthouse Lucifer is there waiting for her when she finds out he is now a witness and about to take the stand. When Steadman starts asking Lucifer questions, Lucifer describes what happened when he and Dan were asked to perform a sting operation. He does it in complete comedy and once he was finished he receives a standing ovation.

Meanwhile, Dan and Ella are investigating the deli for further leads on the killer while they also discuss how Dan’s relationship with Charlotte affects the trial for Chloe. Dan confesses he feels he is being used. When he asks Ella how she knew it was Charlotte she explains that she noticed blonde hair that didn’t belong to Chloe and lipstick on his cuff that was bold and not too sexy so that was a sign of a lawyer. Dan asks if she is serious and she laughs at him. She says, “I saw your butt pucker when Chloe mentioned her name.” Ella asks why Dan is so worried and hopes he didn’t tell her anything about the case. He says that Charlotte took the case after they slept together and it is not just chance that something was up. When they finally reach the counter, the lady asks for their number. Ella and her witty banter says, “We’ll take a headless body of a man named Boris please.” When they talk to the girl says she was going to call them, but she was scared because there was a man that approached her wanting to use the big machines which yes afraid for her life. Meanwhile, back at the courthouse Lucifer is finished telling his tale much to the pleasure of Steadman and Judge Estrada. Lucifer says he would like to add one more thing and Charlotte stands up and tries to stop it. The judge allows it and Lucifer surprises them all when he says everyone should feel lucky to know that they have Chloe and the LAPD looking out for them because that’s how good Chloe is. While this is happening, Amenadiel goes to look at Chloe’s car when Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) catches him and questions him. With his quick thinking, he says he was looking for Maze. He says that he misses her every day and when Maze cuts him off saying she misses him too they start to kiss. Maze manages to get the detonator from his jacket pocket, asking if it was the fireworks he was looking for and if he wanted to blow up his car. She says to tell Charlotte that no one is going to hurt Chloe and to never lie to her about missing her again. When Maze walks away, all we see is Amenadiel looking conflicted with a tire that was on fire rolling behind him.

As the trail continues, Dan is on the stand being questioned about the info Boris provided and what was so important about the prison that Smith worked for. When the cross examination happens, Charlotte recalls Lucifer back to the stand instead of questioning Dan. When Lucifer takes the stand again she asks him one question, who was the first on the scene? Upon saying it was Chloe, Charlotte pulls the report which says that Dan was the first on the scene. Charlotte uses this as an excuse to say that Chloe was the one who killed the man expected to be her father’s killer only to set Smith up for the fall. When asked if he’s lying, Lucifer says that Chloe would never hurt anyone and that what he said is the truth. This causes Chloe to be upset when he caught up with her. Chloe begins to doubt Lucifer when she says she knew before questioning him and that he was the only one who could have told her. Dan confronts Charlotte about sleeping with him to get info about the case and how she looked through his phone. As this happens, Amenadiel talks to Linda while holding his steering wheel s Linda says she should be surprised that Maze blew up his car. Meanwhile, Maze and Lucifer talk about how Chloe thinks Lucifer was the one who gave the info to Charlotte while Maze keeps dropping hints. Dan arrives to talk to Lucifer as they follow a lead to the Chinese crime front. Lucifer finally learns the truth as he tackles Dan into the center as Maze continues her sexual innuendos.

When they start talking to the Chinese, Lucifer speaks in Chinese to the men who then let them talk to Madam Li (Elfina Luk). She agrees to talk if they beat Kang (Don Lew) who ends up fighting Maze. Maze turns into a ninja and kicks his butt, getting upset when Lucifer tells her to stop. Li follows through with the deal and gives them the address to a lead. Dan and Lucifer end up in a building where they discover another dead body and Boris’ body. During this time, it is Chloe’s turn to testify, but not before Charlotte tries to sway Chloe into lying about Lucifer and Perry going to jail. When Charlotte starts questioning Chloe, she does not take Charlotte’s deal and sticks up for Lucifer until Charlotte asks if he is delusional or just a liar. Chloe says he’s not a liar and confirms his story saying Lucifer is the best partner she’s ever had. This leads to Perry Smith’s release. as Amenadiel goes to apologize to Maze, he notices Chloe’s mother crying and offers her advice. While they talk, Amenadiel gets conflicted and leaves. When we see Smith again he’s leaving a night club and Dan confronts him where he tells him the Russians don’t like it when their own is taken out. Just then, a van pulls up and Smith is taken.

As the episode comes to and end, Amenadiel goes to Charlotte and tells her Chloe is the miracle baby God asked him to bless years ago. He says she is the key to Lucifer returning home. Meanwhile, we see Chloe and Lucifer sharing a moment with a fire and wine and sweet longing looks as they almost kiss before the screen fades to black.
