Lucifer – Sin-Eater

Last night’s episode of “Lucifer” was one of those that leave you hanging onto every word and every scene. For example, when Lucifer brings home one of his many flings and ends up getting busted by Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) no matter your age mothers busting in is never a good thing. Or it could have been the comedic banter between Lucifer and Ella (Aimee Gracia) that brings the show full circle with the drama of a serial killer making their rounds by shoving victims full of apples to the family drama between Dan and Chloe and finally to the family reunion between Lucifer (Tom Ellis), Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) and Charlotte.

In Sin Eater we are thrust into a murder case of a man who was seen at the beginning of the episode apologizing for all his wrong doings in life only to be burnt to death once he was finished. Enter the crime scene units and Ella who starts dropping jokes and witty one liners with Lucifer who is fuming because someone is bringing punishment to people and taking over his job. This leads Lucifer and Chloe (Lauren German) on a personal manhunt to find the man or woman who was taking over the devil’s game.

Things also took a turn when Charlotte showed up at the police station looking for Lucifer and when Chloe starts questioning him, he simply says they know each other but not really. But Chloe being Chloe you know she’s going to keep that in the back of her mind to ask him later. But all the while Chloe is dealing with a family camping trip with Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) and Dan (Kevin Alejandro), one she thinks that they shouldn’t go on. Towards the end of the episode Chloe has a change of heart and says they should go, but Dan has changed his mind and says they can’t go on the camp out because they can’t pretend to be happy for Trixie when they aren’t happy themselves. He also says that he and Chloe should finally file for divorce.

As the investigation goes on, Team Lucifer is led to believe that the killer is an ex-girlfriend who didn’t want the relationship discovered in fear of a bad reputation. Lucifer is bored, stating that they got what they deserved and left. Chloe, on the other hand, had other thoughts and wasn’t sure why Lucifer didn’t want to find the real story behind the murder. But Chloe knowing Lucifer, she just let it slide for the simple fact he has always been a “let’s get this done and over with” kind of person.

In a scene between Charlotte and Lucifer, dear old mom starts questioning Lucifer and his motives because God sent Lucifer to Hell. She asks if Lucifer is still trying to gain his father’s approval by punishing people while stating that he wasn’t like that before. Lucifer denies the accusations his mother was saying and left to find Chloe to help her with the case again, this time to stop the killer. This leads to Lucifer saying something that got Chloe to start thinking that maybe it was an inside job and that is how the killer was so easily connected. This train of thought directs Lucifer and Chloe down into the tech room where Lucifer says, “Take away the blinky lights and this place resembles Hell.” Team Lucifer heads to the ex-girlfriend saying her final goodbyes live while pleading with the killer to not do this. Lucifer and Chloe agree on the fact that he has to talk to the suspect before the suspect drops the lighter. Thankfully, Chloe is able to save the day yet again.

Meanwhile Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) goes to Amenadiel for help dealing with Lucifer and Charlotte. Amenadiel is seen in his apartment drinking wine (read as pouring wine out on the floor and making it bend mid-air) and a crap ton of takeout food. Maze knocks on the door (and by knocking on the door we mean kicking the door down). With little to no hesitation, Amenadiel agrees to talk to Lucifer which shocks Maze. When Amenadiel goes to speak to his brother, he finds himself face to face with Charlotte who he believes to be one of Lucifer’s lady friends. After a brief talk about how her son could betray her and send her to Hell, Amenadiel realizes he is face to face with his mother. Charlotte states that if Amenadiel is going to take her back to Hell then he can do it, but no matter what happens nothing changes her love for him. When Lucifer gets home he finds Amenadiel sitting in a chair and jumps to the conclusion that Amenadiel took her to Hell only to have Charlotte walk out and tell him that it’s okay. She explains they have come to an understanding. But Lucifer being the devil he is sets his mother’s punishment by granting her to live on Earth with the humans she loathes so much in Charlotte’s life including a husband and kids. He tells her that if she wants to have a relationship with her sons then that is what she’s has to do.
