Q) Have you thought of a name for your fanbase yet?

A) I was just thinking of this the other day. They are honestly incredible and the reason for everything happening the way it is. So, I wanted to see what they think because they are super creative and better than me at coming up with stuff like that. I would love to hear what they got and they definitely need a name because they are so incredible.

Q) How did your song “Soldier For Love” come together?

A) We recorded the song about two months ago and then decided we could add more to it to make it a funkier track. We re-cut it after an eight or nine hour session. We made it more funkier after adding stuff to it and we thought it ended up perfect. We felt confident with it. When we released it, we were nervous about what the fans would have to say, but they loved it. They just blew it up and it was a great reaction! It was really exciting for me. It was my debut single so I couldn’t wait to get it out there and find out everyone’s reaction to it.

Q) What kind of feelings did you get when you did hear the final cut of the song?

A) It was so rewarding because it feels like a baby. It’s like your baby. Once you have put so much effort into it, top to bottom, it’s so rewarding to hear. It was one of the best things that could have ever happened. I just felt so complete when I heard the final cut of it.

Q) Will you be releasing a full album in the near future?

A) Absolutely! That’s the goal. We’re focused on music right now and in and out of the studio. We have some really awesome tracks and I can’t wait in the future for you guys to hear.

Q) What inspires your music?

A) I’ve been listening to a bunch of Justin Timberlake and Usher since I grew up. Also, I don’t know if a lot of people know this, but Usher has had a huge influence on me. Watching his videos and hearing his tracks, the way he captivated his fanbase and had the girls going crazy…I really would like to mirror that persona on and off stage.

Q) With “Soldier For Love,” how much of a hand did you have in the production of the song?

A) We wanted a song that had a great meaning, not a pop song that was cheesy. We wanted it to have meaning, but also could be catchy and played on the radio. It had a reggae vibe and a cool summer feel. We were down with it and it was the sound that we wanted. The lyrics made the track even more masculine and gave it a deeper meaning. It was kind of the perfect fit!

Q) Is there a video planned for the song?

A) We shot the music video a few weeks back and now we’re going back and forth with the cuts. Hopefully, it will be out soon.

Q) What can you tease about the concept for the video?

A) We originally shot it in New York by my hometown because I wanted to have it be grassroots and show everybody where I came from. It’s kind of just me and the camera. Hopefully, the fans will like it. We got some really cool shots and there will be some screen shots going on. I think fans will like it a lot. I feel like it captures the song well.

Q) Did you have any input on the video concept?

A) We were thinking if it should be a party or this or that. I said, “Let’s show people who I am and kind of let the fans know if they don’t know.” I was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. So, I wanted to show them my hometown and show them that side of me.

Q) Who would be a dream collaboration for you?

A) I don’t have any plans, but I think there are so many talented musicians out now. For example, Ariana Grande is an incredible vocalist and really creates some radio smashes. I think a collaboration with her would be insane.

Q) How do you stay balanced and centered?

A) You always have to remember where you came from. Being out in California, there are always these incredible things. Remember where you came from and don’t lose track of that person. That person is the reason why you are at where you are at today. Love the person you are and don’t change.

Q) You are a part of social media. What kind of fan feedback have you been receiving to “Soldier For Love?”

A) It was such a big anticipation when it was coming out because it was my debut single. We were really excited and when it came out it kind of blew up. The fans took it to a whole new level and that is the biggest reward. The biggest reward is not only when the track is finished, but seeing peoples’ reactions, that they love it and enjoy it. Having it as their ringtone and sharing it with their family and friends, that’s the biggest reward. That’s the main goal, to have people enjoy your music.

Q) Are there any upcoming events or live performances?

A) I feel like my favorite place to be is on the stage. I’m sure in the future there will be some performances and I can’t wait to get back on the road and see fans and perform for them. I think that is an amazing, electrifying feeling.

Q) How can fans keep up with you and your music?

A) I’m constantly on Twitter. I try to tweet back as many fans as I can because they are the reason I am here today. I’m also on Instagram and Vine. The song is on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify.

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) I have seen so many girls have their profile picture as the cover art. Just keep playing it and telling new people to listen to it. Spread the word about it. I’ve seen some people who haven’t heard of me before say it’s their new favorite song. Also, we’re really trying to get radio to pick it up. That’s another amazing mark for me. To have your song on the radio is incredible.

Q) Is there anything else you want to be sure to share with fans?

A) Honestly, I want to thank them so much for everything they have done for me. I’m so thankful to have them in my life. They are doing amazing things with the song and I’d say to keep jamming out. I will be your soldier for love with no doubt!
