Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I’ve been working on a few new projects, one being the new singles that I’m currently releasing. I’m really excited about these songs and the fact that some of them are going to be featured in upcoming feature film, “A Cowgirl’s Story” coming out April 18, 2017!

Q) As a musician, how would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as piano driven singer-songwriter pop/rock.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my musical influences include Sarah McLachlan, Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, Amy Grant and The Beatles.

Q) Your most recent release will be “Coming Home.” How did you come up with the lyrics for the song?

A) I came up with the lyrics for this song in less than an hour after arriving to my hometown of Norman, Oklahoma after being away for quite some time. I needed to express what I was feeling through song. In that moment, coming home and feeling like I truly belonged just meant so much to me (and still does every time I come home). I’m very close with my family so being away from them and missing out on life together can be hard. I know so many people can relate to that feeling of true joy upon arriving home.

Q) How will the video play into the message of the song?

A) It was very important for me to film my scenes for the music video of “Coming Home” in Oklahoma so that’s what we did. I had the idea to gather fan footage/photos of whatever home means to others and that content will be featured throughout the new video. Home can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s a place. For others, it’s people. For me, it’s both.

Q) You asked for fans to send in pictures and videos with their pets. What kind of response did you receive?

A) I asked for specific types of content from fans so they would know what to send in. I just love my dog and so home to me also means my pet. I asked fans to send in videos and photos of their pets and got a great response from that request. I’m excited to include the pet footage and photos in the video!

Q) What do you think it is about the track that fans will connect to?

A) I think everyone can relate to the feeling of coming home. There’s not really anything else like it. I feel that people from all walks of life all over the world will connect to the song.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Maggie McClure performance?

A) When fans come to a Maggie McClure performance, they will hear me performing mostly original songs (a combination of new and old songs) and occasionally I will play some cover songs. I’ll be at the piano for the majority of the show and depending on which show it is, I will be playing solo, as a duo or as a full band. Fans can get a glimpse into my life with my banter and song introductions between songs and can expect to chat with me after the performance. I always have CD’s and T-shirts available for sale at shows too if fans are interested!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Paul McCartney in the near future on a song.

Q) You are also an actress. Do you have a preference for the genre of work that you do? (drama, comedy, historical, etc.)?

A) I really enjoy comedy, but also enjoy drama.

Q) We’ll be seeing you soon in the movie A Cowgirl’s Story. Tell us about the premise and your character.

A) I’m very excited to make my feature film debut in “A Cowgirl’s Story!” The movie is a family film about a girl in high school, Dusty Rhodes (a cowgirl) – played by Bailee Madison. Her parents are in the U.S. Army. At first Dusty is an outcast, but eventually makes friends at school. Dusty starts an Equestrian Drill Team and enlists her new friends. I am the singer in the band at the Sadie Hawkins dance at school. I co-wrote the song that we perform with the director, Timothy Armstrong. Four more of my original songs are used within the film (including “Coming Home” and “Be Right Here For You”).

Q) Is there anything else you want to be sure fans know about your music?

A) Be sure to follow me on instagram (@maggiemcclure), twitter (@maggiemcclure), and “like” my page on facebook (@maggiemccluremusic) to keep up with the latest happenings. Also, autographed copies of all 3 of my CD’s + t-shirts are now available at maggiemcclure.com. Thanks for your support!
