Romance is in the air on this week’s episode of “Nashville.” Daphne (Maisy Stella)  is trying to convince Maddie (Lennon Stella) to come with them to the Art Walk that Deacon (Charles Esten) is making her go to. She doesn’t want to go alone because they’re going with Jessie (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Jake (Myles Moore). Maddie tells her that she can’t go because she is hanging out with Jonah (Nic Luken). Daphne feels like she’s being dragged around like a little girl who can’t take care of herself.

The guy’s new band mate is getting all of the online buzz. Will (Chris Carmack) isn’t really concerned about Alannah (Rainee Blake). He’s trying to find his vitamins. Yeah, we’re sure that’s what he’s frantically looking for. Avery (Jonathan Jackson) arrives and tells them there’s still no word from Juliette (Hayden Panettiere). Avery says things will be fine, it’s only for two weeks. He’s just upset that Juliette left the way she did. Avery tells Will and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) that he thinks Alannah is just what they were missing. Will thinks she changes too much and he’s just not sure about her. We think Will is a bit hormonal if we’re being honest.

At the equine ranch, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) joins a group of girls making riding blankets. Scarlett isn’t really paying attention because she sees Sean (Jake Etheridge) outside with a woman and a small child. The girls get her attention and ask if she will sing for them sometime. Scarlett agrees to if they finish their projects. She looks outside again and sees the woman Sean was talking to driving away.

Gunnar meets up with Alannah in a record store. Gunnar tells her that their Twitter feed exploded after their gig last night. Alannah says that she thought they were amazing. Gunnar says it’s not for them, it was all for her. Gunnar tells Alannah that they were all talking and think they should make a bigger part of the band. He asks her what she thinks. She says that she came to Nashville to be a singer/songwriter and she doesn’t want to lose that. Gunnar begs her to give it a shot. She invites him over for the following night to listen to some of her stuff so he can see what he thinks.

At the Art Walk, Deacon and Jessie are walking hand in hand while Daphne glares from a distance. She really doesn’t want to give Jessie a chance. Daphne and Jake are both on their phones pretending not to hear what the adults are talking about. They’re talking about a painting and Jessie says that she used to imagine being an artist. Deacon asks her what happened. She says that she guesses her life had other plans. Daphne mutters that she wishes her life had other plans. Oh, girl, you’re still young. Daphne asks if they can leave and Deacon tells her no, he wants to see more.

Deacon tries to talk to Daphne once they’re at home. Daphne won’t let him in her room. She tells him that she’s getting ready to get in the shower. She’s really looking at her mom’s pictures and jewelry. The owner of the equine ranch, Gail,  tells Scarlett she’s a miracle worker. She was able to get the girls to finally finish a project. Scarlett asks her about Sean and the woman she saw. Sean’s aunt tells Scarlett that the woman was Sean’s wife. She also tells Scarlett to be patient with herself.

Gunnar is getting dressed to go to Alannah’s. Will busts in to get some toothpaste. Will asks where he’s taking her. Gunnar tells him they’re just going to her house to listen to music. Will tells Gunnar not to be an idiot. He needs to remember what happened the last time he slept with a band member. Gunnar assures Will he won’t be an idiot.

Deacon meets Jessie for dinner. Deacon tells Jessie that he can’t stop thinking about the night before and the way Daphne treated her. Jessie tells Deacon that Daphne is a teenager. It’s to be expected. Jessie tells Deacon that if he talks to Daphne about it then she’ll end up hating her even more. Deacon says that he has to do something. He’s just not sure what yet.

Alannah is singing some of her stuff for Gunnar. It’s different from what the guys do, but it’s really good. Gunnar asks her where she learned to spin a story. Alannah tells him that’s like asking her where she learned to walk. Gunnar asks where she got her guitar. She tells him that she got it from her mom. Her mom loved country music. Alannah tells Gunnar that her song is about learning to let something go before you break it. She asks Gunnar what’s next with the band. Gunnar tells her rehearsal the following day.

Gunnar tells Alannah that he needs to go. He promised that he’d meet the guys. He’s lying, of course. The sexual tension was getting to be a bit much. He makes it all the way to his car then turns around and goes back. Alannah opens the door and kisses him. Alannah tells him things don’t have to be complicated. Gunnar says that things can get messy. Alannah asks him if he wants to stop. She says that he thinks too much. You can guess what happens next!

Scarlett is researching PTSD online and decides to look Sean up on Facebook. She finds a video of him singing with his friend at his high school graduation. He’s very talented. Daphne is listening to music when Deacon gets home from his date. She ignores him at first. He asks her to take her headphones out. Deacon says that he’s not very happy about the way she treated Jessie the other night. Daphne asks if Jessie complained to him. Deacon tells her that it’s him talking. In their house, they treat people with respect.

Daphne doesn’t understand why Jessie and Deacon couldn’t have gone to the Art Walk by themselves. Deacon says that they could have but he wants Daphne to get to know Jessie better. He tells Daphne that if she got to know her she would like her. Daphne asks Deacon why it’s so important to him that she like Jessie. Deacon tries to explain that Jessie is important to him and Daphne is also. Daphne asks Deacon if anyone is concerned about her life and what she wants. She says she’s being dragged along like a little kid. She just wants to be left alone.

Deacon tries to explain to Daphne how important she is to him. Daphne asks to be excused. She really doesn’t want to talk about it. Gunnar wakes up at Alannah’s the next morning. Alannah tells him that he looks like they just eloped in Vegas. Gunnar says it wasn’t the smartest thing for them to do. Alannah tells him not to be so serious. Some things are just meant to be fun. She tells him not to worry. No one has to know.

Maddie and Daphne are having lunch. Maddie asks if Deacon was upset. Daphne says that he was and he says they have to work it out. Maddie tells Daphne that it reminds her of when their mom was dating Luke. Daphne says that it’s completely different. She has no idea what their dad sees in Jessie. Maddie tells Daphne that Jessie makes him happy. Maddie also says that Jessie is really sweet. Maddie says that they don’t have to love her, they don’t even have to like her. She makes their dad happy and that’s all that should matter.

Scarlett keeps her promise to the girls and sings for them while they’re tending to a horse. Sean is also in the barn and hears her sing. The girls tell her how amazing she is and asks her to sing another. Scarlett asks Sean if he wants to join them. He doesn’t. One of the girl’s comments on how cute Sean is but then calls him a freak. Scarlett tells her not to say that. They all know what it’s like to be afraid of something. The girls ask Scarlett what she’s afraid of. She tells them she’s afraid of everything.

At band practice, Alannah is making Will pretty uncomfortable. He says she’s not feeling it. Gunnar and Avery tell them that they were enjoying it. Avery says that Alannah and Will look really sexy together. Gunnar comments that the thought they might have been a little too sexy. Everyone looks at him weirdly. Gunnar says it was just a joke. Alannah excuses herself to get something to drink.

Avery asks Gunnar what he was thinking once Alannah is out of the room. Avery tells Gunnar it has to be a record for him. Band 101 is don’t sleep with bandmates. Gunnar tells them it was an accident. It’s totally casual. Avery asks Gunnar if he picked the ring out yet. Alannah walks back in and asks what she missed. This could get interesting.

Jessie and Deacon meet to listen to the guys. Deacon tells her they should have a dinner and talk things out. Jessie says that it sounds awful and they might die. Scarlett arrives and tells them it’s really good to see them together. Their evening is a bit ruined when Brad (Jeffrey Nordling) shows up. The band finally has a name: The Last Highways. Again, Alannah is the hit of the show. Even Brad is interested.

Scarlett can tell something is going on with Gunnar and Alannah by watching them together. It’s enough to make her leave. Scarlett, you dumped him. He has every right to move on. Alannah is signing autographs when Brad comes up to give her a card. He tells her that he’s the only friend she’ll ever need. Run far away, Alannah! Scarlett is having coffee when she sees Sean outside stumbling around.

Sean is in an alley when Scarlett catches up to him. Sean asks her why she’s following him. She tells him that she wasn’t following him. She saw him and wanted to make sure he’s okay. Sean tells her that she should be more careful. She shouldn’t be out alone at night. Scarlett says they’re in Nashville. She walks the streets at night all of the time. Scarlett says she doesn’t see him being too careful. Sean tells her that he did night patrol in Kandahar. He can handle whatever comes his way.

Scarlett realizes that Sean is drunk. She asks if she can help him. Sean tells her that he doesn’t need her pity. Scarlett says that she’s not handing any out. Sean tells Scarlett that her voice was the prettiest thing he’s heard in a long time. Scarlett asks him how he’s getting home. He tells her that she really shouldn’t be out there. Scarlett tells him she doesn’t need his pity. It’s too bad he’s married. These two are really cute together.

The Last Highways are deciding their setlist for the next show. They just finished their second show together but apparently, they’re planning ahead. Will and Avery both say they have to leave, leaving Gunnar and Alannah alone. Surprisingly Alannah leaves the bar alone telling Gunnar she’ll see him at band practice on Monday.

Two people that did go home together are Sean and Scarlett. Get your mind outta the gutter! It’s not like that! Scarlett is giving Sean bedding for the couch. Sean asks Scarlett why she asked him if music was important to him. She has to confess that she was creeping on his Facebook and watched the video. Someone should teach Sean about privacy settings! Scarlett tells him how talented he is. She asks about the friend he was playing with, Billy.

Sean gets upset. Telling Scarlett that he can’t see the video. Scarlett apologizes. She just wanted to tell him how great they were together. She asks Sean what’s happened. She doesn’t understand why he’s acting the way that he is. Sean tells her that Billy died. That’s what’s happening. Scarlett once again apologizes. She asks if it was before he signed up. Sean tells her that they signed up together. He watched Billy’s jaw get shot off. He doesn’t play anymore so he doesn’t want to talk about music. Sean wants to leave but Scarlett asks him to stay. She’s going to go to her room and he can be in the living room alone.

Scarlett asks Sean who it helps to give up what he loves. Scarlett, maybe you should ask yourself that question? The next morning when Scarlett and Sean arrive together, his aunt is worried. Gail tells Scarlett that she’s going to go check on Sean and wants her to get started on the stalls. Gunnar comes downstairs the next morning surprising Will. He figured Gunnar would be at Alannah’s. Gunnar tells Will that he told them that they’re not a thing. Will tells Gunnar that he’s not sure who’s going to regret their new girl bandmate more.

Deacon is hosting the worlds most awkward dinner party. Jessie tells him how great the food is. Jessie then tries to make conversation with the kids. She asks them about the school project they worked together on. Daphne goes into detail of the whole dissecting a frog process. She probably would have completed the sad frog story if Deacon hadn’t stopped her. They’re trying to eat, Daphne!

Daphne asks where her sister is. She wants to know why Maddie doesn’t have to be there. Deacon tells Daphne that it’s not about Maddie. Daphne storms off and Deacon wants to go after her. Jessie asks him to let her go, which inspires Jake to give a smart ass comment of “Oh, boy.” Jessie shoots him a mom glare and he shuts up. Daphne tells the annoying person knocking on her door to go away. Jessie asks if she can come in. Daphne wasn’t expecting Jessie, she thought it was her dad.

Jessie walks into the lion’s den. She asks Daphne if she can sit with her on the bed. Jessie tells Daphne she’s scared all of the time. She never felt like she was worth much of anything. She wasn’t cool, smart, or talented. She’s always made most of her decisions out of fear and her life has been a disaster. Jessie tells Daphne that she thinks she’s an incredible person. She sees so much of Rayna in Daphne. Jessie is afraid that she’s going to let everyone down.

Daphne doesn’t understand why Jessie is afraid of letting her down. Jessie explains that Deacon loves her so much. Daphne and Maddie are his entire world. Jessie says she feels like she’s messing it all up for them. Daphne tells Jessie how hard it is. Jessie tells her that she has to hear the part she was scared to tell her. Jessie says that she’s not trying to replace Rayna. She couldn’t. She wouldn’t. Jessie also says she’s not trying to take Deacon from them either. Deacon has enough room for them all, including Rayna.

Jessie tells Daphne that she wants to be her friend. That’s what she really really wants. Daphne apologizes for the way she’s been acting. Jessie tells her she doesn’t need to apologize. She’s the troublemaker. Del comes to check on Scarlett. Scarlett tells her every time she tries to do something good it blows up in her face. Del asks her to walk with her.

Gail tells Scarlett that no one is perfect. Everyone is cracked. They hear someone singing. Gail asks Scarlett if she hears it. They walk up to the barn and Scarlett is surprised to see Sean with a guitar singing. Scarlett begins to cry at the sight of Sean singing. Scarlett did do something right. She helped a broken man return to something he dearly loves.
