This week on “Nashville,” Maddie (Lennon Stella) is heading to Miami to spend three days with Jonah (Nic Luken). Deacon (Charles Esten) isn’t sure about the trip. He tells Maddie that he’s not sure about the three days after the concert she’s spending there. Maddie reminds him that she’s an adult so he lets her go without another word. Deacon sends Daphne (Maisy Stella) upstairs to get ready for school and takes a call from Jessie (Kaitlin Doubleday). Jessie just wants to warn him that they may see Brad (Jeffrey Nordling) that evening at the kid’s school.

The Last Highway’s are rehearsing for their next performance. Adding Alannah (Rainee Blake) has really completed their sound. Bucky (David Alford) calls to tell them that several reporters are demanding interviews with Alannah. Alannah tells Bucky to tell the reporters they talk to all of them or none of them. Maddie arrives at Jonah’s place in Miami. Maddie tells him how gorgeous the house is. Jonah says that Maddie just made it twice as gorgeous.

Jessie and Deacon arrive at the kid’s school for their open house. Daphne sings a beautiful song she wrote. Brad seems to realize for the first time just how talented Deacon’s daughter is. It’s nice to see Daphne on stage doing something she loves. She hasn’t done much of that since her mom died. Jake (Myles Moore) takes the stage and does a rap with no music. It’s a burn on his dad. It’s an interesting side of Jake, to say the least.

Avery (Jonathan Jackson) heads to the airport to pick up Juliette (Hayden Panettiere). He and Cadence stand on the tarmac and wait for Juliette to get off the plane. When Juliette doesn’t get off the plane, Avery asks the captain where she is. The captain tells Avery that they got a call that Juliette wasn’t coming. He’s surprised that no one called Avery. Avery tries to call Juliette but she’s still not picking up her phone. He calls Bucky and Bucky says that he’ll help try to find her. Avery tries to call the facility in Bolivia where Juliette is supposed to be. The woman on the phone tells him that she can’t give him any information about one of their guests.

After the open house, Deacon and Jessie let both Daphne and Jake how great they were. Brad gushes over Daphne but not his own son. Brad tells Deacon that Daphne is a star. She shouldn’t be singing in high school auditoriums. Deacon keeps his smile on his face but you can tell he wants to deck Brad. Gunnar (Sam Palladio) is at Alannah’s and she makes him Eggo waffles. Gunnar tries to pick her brain. He wants to know what she’s thinking. Alannah gets a phone call. She tells Gunnar it’s her ex-boyfriend.

Maddie and Jonah arrive at the arena for his concert. There are girls swarming the car and Maddie asks Jonah how he deals with it all of the time. Jonah says that he doesn’t even notice it anymore. Jonah sings the new song that he recorded with Maddie. She takes the stage to sing with him. These two could be the next musical power couple. They’re absolutely adorable. It also becomes clear that Jonah’s friend Twig (Dylan Arnold) has a thing for Maddie by the way he’s looking at her.

Deacon is talking to Avery at the Highway 65 offices. Deacon tells Avery that he’s sorry, he thought Juliette was fine. The rest of the band members arrive. Gunnar asks how Juliette is and Will asks if she’s jetlagged. Avery tells them that she decided to extend her trip. The band is there to do several interviews. The questions only seem to be for Alannah. Gunnah thanks one of the reporters and they find out it’s Brad that has put the press on them. Brad called a bunch of them and told them that Alannah was the next big thing.

Back at the house, Will (Chris Carmack) wants to talk about anything other than Alannah. Gunnar tells them that it’s not her fault that Brad called reporters. Avery thinks it’s good that they all got their ego’s knocked down a bit. Will is upset because they started the band to have fun. He says that after they brought Alannah in it now seems like a job. Avery says that he agrees with Will, they need to stay true to themselves. Avery says that Alannah is something truly special though and that has to be honored too. Will says that he thought they already had something special.

Alannah gets a text from Brad telling her that reporters are just the beginning and they should talk. Maddie comes to the kitchen and Twig offers her coffee. Jonah is outside on the phone but when he comes in he tells her that he has to fly to Austin. Maddie wants to go ahead and go home but Jonah tells her to stay there. The guys will take care of her. He promises to be back the next day.

Deacon is reading a book when Daphne comes downstairs. She tells Deacon about a country music competition that’s going on. Deacon tells her that it’s Brad’s thing and it’s sure to be a cluster. He says that Daphne isn’t going to have anything to do with it. Daphne asks why not. Deacon says that they have big plans for her when she’s ready. She doesn’t have to enter any contest to show how talented she is.

Gunnar arrives at Avery’s with pizza and beer. He tells Avery it’s bro night. Avery asks where Alannah is. Alannah is out with her ex-boyfriend. Gunnar doesn’t understand why it’s taking four hours. He wants to call her. Avery tells him he’s only slept with her three times and they’re not in a relationship. He shouldn’t call her. Avery has his own woman problems. He tells Gunnar that he can’t reach Juliette and has no idea if and when she’s ever coming home.

Twig is trying to learn how to play speed. Maddie tells him it’s easy but Twig just isn’t getting it. The other guys interrupt them to try to get them to try mushrooms. Maddie declines and Twig tries to but peer pressure gets him in the end. The band is getting ready for their gig. Will is late so Deacon asks to talk to Avery for a minute. Gunnar asks Alannah if she was with her ex all night. Alannah tells him that it’s not any of his business. Gunnar asks her if she slept with him.

Alannah says that those questions don’t fall into the type of relationship they have. Gunnar asks her what kind of relationship that is. Alannah says that she joined the band to do something that enables her to feel totally free. If his jealousy is going to get in the way, she may have to do something else. Alannah tells Gunnar he needs to find a hobby.

Juliette is the topic of Deacon and Avery’s conversation. Deacon asks Avery if Juliette was making progress in the beginning. Avery says so much for that. He loves Juliette but he doesn’t know how he can let her leave again. Deacon asks Avery why he doesn’t just go down and get her. He says they have a jet. Avery isn’t sure if he should just fly to Bolivia. Finally, Will arrives for the show, ending the conversation.

In Miami, Twig is tripping and freaking out. Maddie is surrounded by high idiots. She tries to check on Twig. She knows he doesn’t seem right. Twig starts to freak out so Maddie takes him in the other room and tries to calm him down. She looks up on the internet to find ways to help him. First, they try breathing but he says he still doesn’t feel better. Maddie says that it will pass in three to four hours.

Jessie and Deacon are supposed to go out but she’s not ready. She’s making mac-n-cheese and asks Deacon if he’s okay with just eating that. Deacon tells her that that’s all he ate the first two years he was in town so he’s fine with it. Jessie tells Jake that Brad just called and said that he ordered an Uber and it will be there to get him any minute. Deacon serves the food while Jessie goes to pack Jake’s things.

Deacon tells Jake that he really did like his performance. Jake seems amazed that Deacon really liked it. Deacon tells him that his dad was really hard on him too. He told him he wasn’t going to be anything. Jessie is listening to the conversation from the hall. It makes her cry to hear Deacon talking to her son the way he is. Finally, someone understands Jake beside her. When Jake heads out he shakes Deacon’s hand. Jessie kisses him and tells him they’re going to miss the show.

It’s finally time to seal the deal. Jessie leads Deacon to her bedroom. This time there’s no crying or freaking out from Deacon. Will goes a little crazy with his guitar during the band’s performance. Twig is starting to come down. He tells Maddie that he can’t stand when he’s not in control. He’s afraid that no one else will step up to be in charge. He tells Maddie about his own home life. His mom went off the deep end after his dad left. He was left to take care of his younger siblings.

Will is really trying to make himself stand out from the rest of the band. Alannah leaves the venue without saying much. Gunnar says who knows where she’s going this time. Will says who cares. Gunnar asks Will if it’s necessary. Will says that he’s high from a great show and Gunnar is ruining it. Gunnar says that he bets Will had a great performance. He hijacked Alannah’s performance on every song.

Gunnar and Will keep arguing about Alannah. Will thinks that Alannah hijacked their entire band. Avery is trying to get them to stop fighting. Will says that Gunnar is afraid to be fronted by a gay cowboy. He thinks he’s afraid that they’ll become the country version of The Village People. Avery finally yells to get their attention. He tells them that he can’t do it right now. He says he’s flying to Bolivia to get Juliette.

On the flight to Bolivia, it seems like Avery is still unsure if he’s doing the right thing. When he arrives at the campus he tells the receptionist who he is and why he’s there. She tells him that he doesn’t have an appointment. She can’t let him in without an appointment. Avery tells her that he will see his wife and he’s not leaving until he does.

The house is a mess from the party and Twig is trying to clean up. He apologizes to Maddie for the previous evening. Maddie says that bathroom floors are her preferred place to hang out. Maddie tells Twig that he was cute when he was freaking out. Twig says that he will call her the next time but then says he doesn’t even have his number. Before she can put it on his phone, Jonah comes downstairs.

Maddie asks him if he got the part. Jonah says he doesn’t know yet but he hopes so. Jonah tells Maddie that he’s bummed he missed out on the weekend with her. Maddie tells him that there will be other weekends and he didn’t miss much. Jonah says that he’s going to make it up to her. He tells her to name a country and they’ll go there. Maddie tells Jonah that he’s ridiculous. Poor Twig is just left waiting in the wings.

Alannah shows up at Gunnar’s. He asks what she’s doing there. He figured after his jealousy fit she was done with him. Apparently, not. Will is working out hard at the gym. He’s running on the treadmill when he collapses. He has to sit and get his heart rate down before he can keep going. Will really needs to stop using steroids. He’s going to end up killing himself.

They let Avery back to see Juliette. She’s sitting at a desk with a blank look on her face. Avery rushes in and hugs her but she doesn’t hug him back. He asks her why she didn’t answer his calls. Juliette tells him that she couldn’t. Avery asks if they took her phone away. She says no, it’s nothing like that. Avery wants to know what’s going on. She’s not acting like herself. Juliette tells him he’s right. She’s not the person she used to be. Juliette says that for the first time in her life she feels like she’s more herself than ever.

Juliette is living her life on her own terms. Avery tells her that she’s always lived on her own terms. She’s never given a damn what anyone else thinks. Juliette tells him that he’s wrong. She says that she needed people too much. She tells Avery that he’s part of the problem. She says that she can’t be with him or have anything to do with her old life. Avery tells her that the place she’s at is bad for her. They’re going to go home.

Avery tries to grab Juliette to leave but she tells him that he’s not listening to her. She’s not going anywhere. Avery asks her about their daughter. Juliette says that Cadence can come live with her in Bolivia. She’s still her mother and she’s not abandoning her. Avery tells her that isn’t an option. Juliette says then she’ll facetime her every day. Juliette says that she herself is the problem. She can’t communicate with anyone until she fixes that.

Avery begs Juliette to come back with him. He tells her that he loves her and he needs her. She still just stares at him blankly. Juliette kisses Avery on the forehead and tells him that she’s already made her decision. She turns away from him and he turns to leave. It seems that Avery has officially lost his wife. She’s not listening to anyone or anything…except Darius (Josh Stamberg). Remember when we said this organization sounded like a cult? Well, it seems that is the case and it’s unclear if Juliette’s loved ones will ever get her out.
