Oscar Del Amor – An Astronaut’s Guide To Dating in Los Angeles

Q) How would you describe your sound?

 

A) A mix of dance music good songs and all sorts of different things I’ve absorbed these years.

 

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

 

A) David Bowie, Muse, Carlos Santana, Justice, Sublime

 

Q) As a producer, what is your song creating process like?

 

A) I usually start with some chords or a cool sound. Sometimes I have a vocal idea I record really quick on my phone. It’s always different.

 

Q) Your current album is called An Astronaut’s Guide To Dating in Los Angeles.Where does the title come from?

 

A) Everyone always says dating in LA is so tough so like what if you aren’t from this planet or have been in outer space for a few years ya know?

 

Q) What is the message behind the song “Favorite Game?”

 

A) Have fun!

 

Q) How did you come to work with Anya V on the track? 

 

A) Anya and I and met through a mutual friend, Dan Brunelle, from Chicago and he was playing a show with his band Monakr in LA. Soon enough, we were getting creative together.

 

Q) How does the video for the song play into the message of it?

 

A) It’s nostalgic in a way and rebellious in a way, but overall a fun day with an astronaut and a beautiful gal in Los Angeles.

 

Q) What do you think it is about it that fans have connected to?

 

A) [laughs] I don’t know what they like because everyone is different and like different things. A few fans have told me they love to workout to my songs, a few fans love the sad songs and some people like the funnier stuff where I’m just having fun on a track. Everyone’s different.

 

Q) What can fans expect from a live Oscar Del Amor performance?

 

A) I’ll be DJing originals of the songs and oftentimes mashups of these songs mixed with whatever type of vibe the crowd is feeling. I’ve got a new remix to “Favorite Game” by Brvther’s Keeper from Chicago that’s gonna be poppin off soon.

 

Q) What songs off Astronaut’s Guide are you most looking forward to performing live?

 

A) I like spinning “Favorite Game” and seeing people get into it. Anya and I might do an acoustic version soon actually.

 

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

 

A) I would love to collaborate with Pharrell or DJ Tigerlily on something.

 

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to Astronaut’s Guide?

 

A) I hope they can relate to some of the stories

 

Q) Is there anything else you want be sure fans know about your music?

 

A) I produce and mix about 90% of it myself and really put my heart and soul into it. So, I just wanna let people know it comes from a real genuine place in my heart.

 

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way to connect with your fans?

 

A) It’s the only way really and excited to find new ways to connect. I’ll send smoke signals if people will listen.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter?

 

A) I love you guys, you’re never alone and let’s keep sharing this feeling!
