Q.  What are some of the recent projects you’ve been working on?

A.  I’ve been working on my music with my writing partner, we’ve been working on various soundtracks and some of my solo music.

Q.  What can you tell us is happening this season on the show “Girlfriends” with your character Lynn?

A.  I’m kind of excited about these fun little arcs with relationships and coming up with something solid for once.  Something meaningful, so that’s kind of cool, Big Boi is on an upcoming episode.  There are going to be more musical artists which I love because it’s great to have them and play with people you admire.  That kind of caliber, it’s really fantastic.

Q.  How was getting to star opposite of Big Boi in that episode?

A.  Yeah, he actually did a concert and flew in and caught the Red Eye in the wee hours of the morning and then came to the set.  It was amazing, it was wonderful, Outkast is really innovative and they don’t really have a label at all.  He was awesome, fantastic to work with.  You don’t really expect that with someone like that, you hope, but he was this sweet, lovely and kind person.  He was so much fun to work with, just great and funny, naturally funny.

Q.  What is it about your role as Lynn that continues to challenge you?

A.  She’s always reinventing herself and it’s really fun to take somebody that is kind of eccentric and fun in a lot of ways.  But, also afraid of finishing anything, events take place in her life, she always goes through emotional aspects in relationships.  It’s exciting to see somebody go through such a mooching-off of everybody and never really finishing anything and this year trying to go through ways to try and push her up the ladder to find the person she’s trying to become.  She’s been slowly becoming that person, it’s taken her some time.

Q.  What do you think it is about the show “Girlfriends” that continues to draw viewers in?

A.  Well, I think for me, I was actually watching the show last night.  I look around and I don’t really see very many women shows just based on women, there are a couple, there are the diversity of characters.  There is somebody to relate to for different people, especially women of color, who might not have had someone to relate to.  Before our show there wasn’t anything for me to relate to, I look around and search and I think that there is that chemistry of the friendship and the diversity of women today.

Q.  We know that you’re very involved with music and obviously you do acting as well.  Is there anything else you’d like to try your hand at?

A.  I am a producer too, I have produced a documentary called Orphans.  It’s a documentary and it deals with humanity and a need to raise humanity and empathy in order to survive in the world.  In order to make it a happier and healthier place.  I really like doing soundtrack work but on projects a producer can contribute in a lot of different ways.

Q.  What would you like to say to the fans and supporters for the show?

A.  I would like to thank everyone who has ever watched or supported the show.  It’s really the viewers that have kept us alive, we haven’t a big marketing campaign push ever.  It’s just the actual viewers that have kept us alive all of this time.  That means if they’re relating and if you’re relating then they are understanding and laughing with us and we can keep the show going.  That’s the most wonderful thing, it’s audience sustained, it’s not through any other means that we survive.  So, it’s really exciting and I am really thankful.
