Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is generally a mid-tempo, melodic EDM sound with hints of tropical house.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Kygo, DJ Snake, Zedd, Major Lazer, Calvin Harris

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “One Last Time.”

A) “One Last Time” is about a breakup. It’s that one last night you spend together before it’s really over. I liked the concept because it’s not a sad song. Sometimes people just don’t fit, which is okay and it’s okay to just admit it to each other without anger, fighting or drama. This song shows that. “Give me one last night before we say goodbye.” Nick Dean created the lyric video for it and it’s a pretty good representation of the record. At the beginning they’re sitting there kinda unhappy, knowing it’s over. She then gets this idea that’s basically saying, “Let’s just have one more fun night together,” and they go off and play cards, play shot-glass chess, etc.

Q) How did you come to feature Some Chick on the track?

A) I love Some Chick’s voice so I called her up and asked her if she’d go in and cut the record. She said yes and the rest is history!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The energy of the record along with the lyrics. I think breakups are usually portrayed in such a painful way, but honestly, sometimes you just know it’s not right for you. And even if you love the person, you know you don’t want to spend your life with them. So, it’s okay to admit that and let that person go find the one who’s meant to love the shit out of them.

Q) For tracks with lyrics what is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It’s usually just working with songwriters to get the best record. I’m a big lyric and vocalist kinda guy. A great vocal definitely inspires me.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) All of it. Occasionally, like with the Burak Yeter collab (“Go 2.0”), I’ll do some collaborating. But for the most part, it’s pretty much just me.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Ryan Riback performance?

A) They can expect to have a fun time and hear the records they love!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I played in Shanghai a few years back and the energy was insane! I also just played in Malta at La Belle Music Festival and that was a great vibe under the stars too!

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

A) Potentially! [wink]

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Definitely Kygo or Zedd. They both have amazing musical styles and partnered with amazing vocalists…they just know how to make the hits!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Not usually an album kinda guy. I love the single and end up listening the shit out of it. [wink] But one recent album that I really enjoyed was Flume’s “Skin.”

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I think it’s important for fans to get to know the person behind the music. Otherwise, it just becomes about the music only and your main goal and focus becomes this obsession to have only hit records. Sometimes; however, you are just feeling a certain kind of way and you’ll have a record that describes that moment in your life and you just want to put it out, but you don’t need it to be this massive thing. The fans will understand and love that, if they know who you are and what you’re about. You just have to let them in.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you, thank you, thank you. I wouldn’t be traveling around the world and releasing records if it wasn’t for you all, so thank you!
