Shane Haboucha – Desperate Measures

By  |

Q.  What are the current projects that you are working on?

A.  I finished up my role “Desperation” in December, and I finished up my role on “Everwood” that was recurring and I’m going to be shooting “Monk” next week with Tony Shaloub.

Q.  Can you tell us a bit about the movie “Desperation” and your character David?

A. “Desperation” is about a group of people that get thrown into this situation where they come face to face with evil and the devil.  David helps these people altogether and give them help, he’s a messenger from G-d basically.  He tells them what G-d speaks to these people, his family and all of the other people he meets.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this project?

A.  I loved the script and I thought it was amazing, because it was an amazing script, that was some great material especially for a kid.  Nowadays there is not a lot of great material for a kid to read, so it was a great opportunity, the part.

Q.  Desperation is a movie from Stephen King, are you a fan of his works?

A.  Well, I knew of his work and I’ve seen some of his movies, I know what he did and I wasn’t really a big fan, I didn’t follow him but I knew what to expect.  When I read the script I could tell that he was a part of it just by all the things that happened and the different situations.

Q.  What is your most memorable moment from filming “Desperation?

A.  I would say it was one of the first weeks of shooting and it was in Arizona and the stage, it was a very emotional scene in the film and I remember that because it was the first weekend.  I was just getting used to everything and the people I met there, so that was definitely at the stage at the theater with all the other actors.  Because, in that scene, I was pretty much with every actor in the film, we were altogether in that scene.

Q.  What was it like for you getting to work with such talented actors such as Ron Perlman, Steven Weber, Annabeth Gish and Tom Skerritt?

A.  It was amazing because I knew I was doing something right and it was amazing working with them, we all compliment each other, we felt so comfortable together after a couple months of filming together.  It’s nice to go to work each day knowing you’re going to see people you like working with, so it was fun, because I knew how big they were and their backgrounds.  It was a very nice experience I had, especially my mom.

Q.  You’ve gotten to work on both comedic and dramatic roles, is there one that you prefer over the other?

A.  I do prefer dramatic roles because I feel more comfortable with dramatic, that’s what I like to do as an actor.  That’s who I am as a person, that’s what I enjoy doing.  Comedic is fine, but if I had to make it a regular thing I’d pick drama, that’s what I like doing.

Q.  What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A.  In my spare time I do my gymnastics, I work out and play hockey and I hang out with my family a lot, because if I am working a lot  it’s nice to see them a lot of the time when I am off.

Q.  Do you have a favorite project that you have worked on?

A.  This project, it was actually “Desperation” because of what I go to do and what I was able to show in that movie, and especially with the cast and all the people that were in it.  It’s definitely my favorite one, “Desperation.”

Q.  Are there any specific actors that you’d like to work with in the future?

A.  Sean Penn if possible, yeah, he’s a great actor.  I like Sean Penn a lot.

Q.  Is there anything that you’d like to say to fans and supporters of your career?

A.  I’d like to say thank you for following my career and all of the support, because it’s a very hard industry and it’s nice to know that there are always people out there who will follow you no matter what.  There are a lot of people in this business that aren’t true to you but fans always are, and they stick with you no matter what.
