Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would say my music is a hybrid of atmospheric, dreamy soundscapes with rhymes about everyday magic we find through our real life experiences and relationships. Mermaid electro or dream pop seems to be the right fit for my genre!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Oh gosh I have so many! David Bowie, Bjork and Billie Holiday are the classics that really inspired me from my childhood. Vocally I’m drawn to Hole, Amy Winehouse, Portishead and always love exploring experimental tunes like the ones you find in Massive Attack albums.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Magic Girl.”

A) “Magic Girl” is all about the sub-genre of anime where young girls have these amazing powers to solve their problems and get through life, they have a bad ass squad to help them through the really tough bits like Sailormoon, for example. This song is a real testament and ode to my relationship and friendship with Ekelle. We’re here to uplift each other no matter what.

Q) How did you come to work with Ekelle on the track?

A) I’ve known Ekelle for a long time, several years now. Though we always did our separate solo projects, we always told ourselves we would work on something truly magical when we had the chance, enter magic girl!

Q) What makes self-love so important, especially in 2021?

A) It’s been a tough year for all of us and it’s still dragging on. We need self-love to remind us of the positivity and good times to come in the near future. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it all starts from how your perspective shifts on reality and the world. Self-love is necessarily; it’s so important!

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) It honestly depends on whom I am working with. I have worked with several different producers over the years, and I have even made my own beats and tracks, experimenting with different levels of involvement in the music industry. For “Magic Girl,” we had the beat and built on it with our lyrics and message to make it our own.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Oh yeah! You can count on it. [smiles] It’s in the works right now.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Huge inspirations for me currently are Tame Impala for their psychedelic experimentation and nostalgic sounds. They really resonate with me on another level. Vocally, I am always listening to artists like Janelle Monae, SZA and Doja Cat for a healthy mix of lush voices.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is basically the face to your brand. It’s where you meet, network and share your work! I think of it as a virtual online gallery, so I always curate my feed and channels to represent and exude my aesthetic, vibes and style. I want people to feel a connection with me as an individual, and simultaneously my work as an artist.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would love to give them all one big virtual hug right now because without my fans and supporters I wouldn’t be able to get as far and do the things that I do every day. I am grateful, always x 10000.
