Skyler Chissell – I Just Wanna Dance

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is a mix of modern pop and a little hometown twang.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Christina Aguilera, Shawn Mendes and Blink-182 are just a few of the many great artists that inspire and influence me.

Q) Talk about the story behind your song “I Just Wanna Dance.”

A) “I Just Wanna Dance” is a fun, upbeat and all around good time party song that shows that being with your friends and having a good time is more important than money and boys.

Q) What is it about the song that fans are connecting to?

A) The fans can connect to the fact that society nowadays makes girls believe that they need money and boys to be happy, but that is not the truth. The song shows young girls that being with your friends can make you happier than anything.

Q) How does the video for “I Just Wanna Dance” play into the message of the song?

A) The video for “I Just Wanna Dance” shows me and my real life friends having a sleepover. We are enjoying our fun evening as a boy keeps trying to get into the sleepover and trying to impress us with his money, but we don’t care we won’t let him in. When he shows up as a down to earth pizza boy we finally let him join the sleepover/ party, teaching him and the viewers that money isn’t everything.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I get to listen to and be involved in every tiny piece in the production of my music, lyrics and videos.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Skyler Chissell performance?

A) I love being able to be my fun loving, energetic, crazy and unique self so fans can expect lots of dancing around, laughing, joking, energy and an all-around good time.

Q) You recently started working with Randy Jackson. Talk about working alongside of him.

A) Working with Randy Jackson is such an amazing experience. Being so young and getting to work with a legend like Mr. Jackson is great. He has been helping me learn so much about the industry and myself. Now, I can’t wait to put my first album out with him behind me.

Q) Will there be an EP or album coming out soon?

A) We have been writing so many great songs lately that I think it is safe to say to look out for an album soon.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I do have to say I would love to work with the amazing, extremely talented and (I can’t forget) very cute Shawn Mendes on my next duet.

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) My amazing and loyal fans can download my music from iTunes and share it on social media.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) My Instagram, Twitter, musical.ly and live.me @skylersmusic help me connect and talk to my fans every day. I get to see what they are doing in their lives, they can see what’s going on with my music and I get to talk to them and answer their questions.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I want to say thank you and I love you all so much to everyone who supports me and my music, whether you’ve just started being a supporter or have been by my side since day one you are all amazing and have a special place in my heart. I can’t wait for all you to hear my new music coming soon!
