The episode opens with Ichabod deciding on what provisions to choose for their journey to Sleepy Hollow.  Diana (Javina Gavankar) tells him that chips will do fine. “In my day a road trip required more than just a credit card, you needed the skill to hunt game,” Ichabod (Tom Mison) says and then proceeds to give Diana the Colonial ingredients to make a Slim Jim.  Diana buys a blue Slushy which gives Ichabod a brain freeze when he takes a sip. Diana throws the remainder in the trash and talk about beating Dreyfuss (Jeremy Davies) to The Philosopher’s Stone.

Meanwhile, Malcolm searches for Jobe (Kamar de los Reyes).  He finds the demon buried underground and reminds him that, “The terms of my contract requires you to remain by my side for the duration.”  Jobe apologizes as he was caught off guard. “Let’s get out of here, it’s hotter than Hell. An assumption I never plan on confirming after today,” Malcolm tells Jobe.

As Diana is driving towards Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod remembers waking up in Sleepy Hollow and we get flashbacks from the Pilot. Diana acknowledges the difficulty Ichabod must be feeling coming back to Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod says he suffered great loss therem but also friendships and learned about his destiny as a Witness.  Jake, Alex and Jenny (Jerry MacKinnon, Rachel Melvin and Lyndie Greenwood) also arrive in Sleepy Hollow and we are treated to more flashbacks as Jenny thinks about shooting and killing Wendigo Joe (Zach Appleman) and Abbie’s (Nicole Beharie) ultimate sacrifice.  Diana and Ichabod pull up. “Welcome to Sleepy Hollow,” Ichabod greets. “Where the magic happens, literally,” Diana adds.  Jenny pulls out something called a Judas Scepter, which according to Diana “Looks like a tuning fork gone wrong.” Jenny tells Team Witness that it will help them locate the last talisman.  Ichabod thinks the maps he has in his archives should help them with the lay lines.  But when they leave, a creature slides open its stone resting place where the scepter pointed.

Team Witness arrive at the archives. There’s no place like home. Jenny gives Diana a brief tour of the library and lab. Jenny gets emotional when she sees Abbie’s mug. “There’s lots of ghosts in this place, but all ones I adore,” Jenny tells Diana.  Alex needs some things that will help modify the specter to block the lay line interference.  Jenny tells Alex that she has what she needs at a place nearby.  Alex, Jake and Jenny leave.  Jenny tells Alex and Jake that being unprepared can get them killed.

Back at The Archives, Ichabod shares with Diana some letters from General Washington (Mark Campbell) regarding a clandestine meeting with Benjamin Banneker (Edwin Hodge).  Apparently, Banneker and Washington were planning to divide The Philosopher’s Stone into four pieces and hide them separately.  First, General Washington wanted to use the stone for some reason prior to its division.  Ichabod tells Diana that need to find out why.

Meanwhile, Alex is able to get the specter to work, but an ancient archer begins shooting arrows at them to keep them from getting to the talisman.  Jenny tells Alex and Jake that if they take off in different directions, the confusion may distract the archer.

At The Archives, Jenny talks about the Egyptian archer. Ichabod pulls out a book and reads that the creature was a guardian of the crypt known as The Sphinx.  Team Arrow decide to get into the crypt through the tunnels beneath. Alex, Jake and Jenny will distract The Sphinx above ground while Diana and Ichabod are below.  Jenny wants Alex and Jake to hang back while she handles The Sphinx. Alex is so tired of Jenny making assumptions on their abilities just because she and Jake lack experience.  Jenny apologizes and thanks Alex for calling her out.  The three of them will face The Sphinx together. Ichabod finds the talisman in a chamber in the crypt and once he picks it up, The Sphinx weakens and stops fighting with Alex, Jake and Jenny.  Suddenly, the door closes and traps Ichabod inside and Jobe appears. “Give it here,” Jobe orders.  The talisman disappears from Ichabod’s hands and appears in Jobe’s hands. “Time to go Witness,” Jobe tells Ichabod then makes Crane vanish.  Diana gets the crypt chamber door opened, but finds Ichabod gone.

Alex, Jake and Diana return to The Archives and discuss Ichabod’s disappearance.  In order to find Ichabod and the talisman, Team Witness researches Dreyfuss Industries’ holdings.  They discover that Malcolm purchased a particle of land that was the site of a long ago battlefield.  Plan formulated, Team Witness are off to rescue Ichabod and get the talisman.

Ichabod awakens on the whole Philosopher’s Stone. In walks Jobe and Malcolm. Dreyfuss is ready to celebrate.  Malcolm explains that he was searching for ways to prolong his life until a contact at the FBI told him about a two hundred and fifty year old man (Ichabod). Dreyfuss then tells Ichabod a story:  It seems that Washington manipulated Ichabod into fighting The Horseman of Death on The Philosopher’s Stone.  Malcolm shows Ichabod that they are at the site of the battlefield where Ichabod died, but it will be where Dreyfuss is reborn as soon as one more guest arrives. On cue, The Headless Horseman gallops up.  Ichabod is bound and sits on The Philosopher’s Stone. The Horseman also kneels on the stone.  Malcolm takes a blade and first cuts Ichabod’s palm then The Dark Rider of Death’s (The Horseman) with the intention of mixing their blood to create an elixir of everlasting life. Outside, Jenny manages to trap Jobe in a Blessed Lantern brought over from France by Benjamin Franklin.  Diana rushes inside for Ichabod.  She sets down explosives while Malcolm calls for Jobe.  Diana cuts Ichabod free and they rush out of the place. Malcolm stays behind and drinks the elixir as the place goes up in flames.

The next day, Ichabod visits Abbie’s grave and tells her everything that has been going on. “I still miss you terribly,” Ichabod says. “Until next we meet.” We’re also to Ichabod figuring out what Harry Potter house he would be – Ravenclaw. He leaves a present on Abbie’s grave – a Horseman bobble head.

Team Witness celebrate their victory over drinks. Ichabod recalls Abbie once telling him that he may not have a family, but he’s not alone. Crane tells Diana that he’s going to make sure Molly’s experience as a Witness is different from his and Abbie’s.  And if evil rears its ugly head again, they’ll be ready.

Meanwhile, Malcolm emerges a little charred from the explosion ridden battlefield. He first believes he’s dead until he’s able to pull a glass chard from his chest and the wound immediately heals. It worked, Malcolm Dreyfuss is immortal!
