T.O.N.E.-z – Fog of War

By  |

 Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I have a new EP that was a collaboration with a producer named Rorschack from Los Angeles and a new single, entitled “Spotlight On Me” featuring Katie Sky. Also, I am in a short film called Clarity, where I play an undercover cop.

Q) You are releasing your new CD entitled Fog of War. What is the feel and vibe for it and how does the title play in the connection?

A) The feel and vibe is “my real life.” The title is about the blurry lines that we all have during our life journeys and the “war” is the constant fight that we have within ourselves to try to make those blurry lines a lot clearer.

Q) How much hand did you have in the production of the album?

A) I mixed and mastered fifty percent of the album.

Q) What is your process for your songs? Do your lyrics come before music?

A) My process is this: I hear the music and I know within less than forty seconds whether I’m going to connect to it. I think of the lyrics in my head and then I perform them over the track. Then, I write them down afterwards for publishing purposes.

Q) You work with a “Justified” costar on the song “My Baby Girl.” How did the collaboration come about?

A) Yes, Alicia Witt. I met her at the Season 5 premiere of “Justified.” We hit it off instantly and I found out that she is a classical pianist, she can sing and has a music career of her own. I sent her the “My Baby Girl” track and she fell in love with it and started writing instantly. We shot the music video in Los Angeles.

Q) What are some of your favorite songs off the album and why?

A) Every one of them. It’s like asking a parent that has five children which child is their favorite… It’s impossible. I love all of them equally.

Q) You’ll be performing songs off Fog of War at the Knitting Factory on October 3rd. What can fans expect from a live T.O.N.E.-z performance?

A) They can expect energy, passion, humor, a little arrogance and free t-shirts thrown in to the crowd.

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) Buy it, share my videos, share my website and word of mouth — which is the best way for anything.

Q) You are also an actor. What kind of film/TV roles do you hope to pursue in the future?

A) My two goals are A) to do one movie acting alongside Tom Cruise and B) to star in a science fiction movie.

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your work, both acting and musical?

A) I would like to say thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to listen to me express what’s going on in mine. I appreciate each and every one of you guys.
