Teen Wolf – Raw Talent

Today is the last day for Lydia (Holland Roden) to register for MIT. But, instead, she is back at oh so creepy Eichen House saving Parrish’s (Ryan Kelley) hide. Lydia wanted to go back in to Eichen House to investigate a sound she heard in her premonition, of her and her friends screaming and people killing each other. She believes the sound came from the closed unit in Eichen House, but Parrish will not let her go back in to Eichen House so he goes in her place. Parrish finds out that the patients in Eichen House are not crazy after all. They are dying! Rather, the doctors are slowly killing them. They are putting them in the showers, getting them wet, and then electrocuting them! Parrish is next! Dr. Conrad Fenris (John Posey) electrocutes Parrish before locking him in a cell! Dragging him to the cell, Fenris explains that in the beginning the purpose of Eichen House was to “protect people like me from things like you. Then I realized we should not be caging them. We should be killing them.” Fenris knows exactly how to kill a Hell Hound. Parrish is not the first he has seen. “The human body is sixty percent water. Even you can freeze solid,” explains Fenris before lowering the temperature in Parrish’s cell way down and turning it into a freezer.

Sitting in the police station, waiting for Parrish to come back, Lydia hears Eichen House. Specifically, she senses Parrish freezing to death. She goes back into Eichen House, with just the light on her phone and her memories as her guide. Walking through Eichen House, she flashes back to her time in there. She sees all the pain the doctors put her through, like drilling holes in her head and hears herself scream, past and present. Lydia is scared. Her heart is pounding in her ears! If her boyfriend, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), knew where she was right now…. But no. Apparently, as far as he is aware, she is at MIT. With no hero coming to save her, Lydia has to rescue herself. She calms herself down and slows her breathing. When she reopens her eyes, there is darkness behind them. She has changed from a scared little girl to a strong, powerful, badass woman. Fenris cannot be afraid anymore, with his gun aimed at Parrish, and neither can Lydia. She takes control of the situation, kicks open the door to Parrish’s cell and screams violently, throwing Fenris back! Lydia transformed herself to save them both!

The once good Dr. Fenris killed every supernatural in Eichen House because he was afraid and could not see it any other way. Like Scott (Tyler Posey) tells Lydia and Malia (Shelley Hennig), “You don’t know what fear will do to someone. It can change them…They’ll do things they’ve never done before….Scared people will do things you wouldn’t believe.” Beacon Hills is rapidly becoming afraid of Scott and his pack. “They’ll look at us differently,” says Scott.  They will start hunting them. Not that they have not already. Scott started the episode off running from hunters in the woods. Or so he thought. It was just Sherriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) and his deputies. Still, Scott wolfed out and fought Stilinski who, in turn, protected Scott. Stilinski ordered his men to stand down, even when one asked “What’s wrong with his eyes?”

There is; however, a new hunter in town – Tamora Monroe (Sibongile Mlambo). She is undercover as the new guidance counselor at the high school. If a student is not supernatural, she does not have time for them. Like Mason (Khylin Rhambo), whose biggest problem is studying for his upcoming history test and watching his best friend, boyfriend and crush play lacrosse. …Or not. They are really not that good. They crash into each other and, as goalie, Corey (Michael Johnston) cannot stop the other team from scoring. “I’m not actually invisible right now, am I?” asks Corey. Thankfully, the real season does not start for at least a week.

Monroe is here to hunt supernatural teenagers like Corey, Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Brett (Cody Saintgnue). She is so uncomfortably creepy, trying to lure these students in to share their secrets. She stops them in the hallway and gets in their faces to ask about their personal lives and problems outside of school. Liam might not even have to open up to her, with how close he is to giving himself away. He is out of control! Wolfing out on the lacrosse field? Beating his teammates, literally and figuratively? FIGHTING and breaking his locker so badly that when Corey leans on it he falls?  Monroe already killed a Hell Hound. Scott, Malia and Lydia found her bullet. A werewolf would be nothing to her. These kids do not want to cross her path. Scott is right though. “This new hunter doesn’t know what they’re doing.” Monroe comes on to Brett, a high schooler, in the parking lot after school to trap and stab him! She tells him, “You don’t deserve to have this much power. You don’t deserve to terrify people. No one should be able to do that.” But she can? She is out here doing the same thing! Trying to kill these high schoolers! She certainly has blood on her hands! Brett gets up and attacks her back and almost kills her, but Gerard (Michael Hogan) shoots him first. He is there to recruit Monroe to his hunting team.

Scott and Malia need to talk to Argent (JR Bourne) about the bullet they found in the woods. Before they tell the police (Stilinski) anything, they need to see if Argent knows who it belongs to. But first they have to find Argent. They track him down by hacking into his computer. “His username is Allison. His password is also Allison.” They find him selling weapons to guys he does not trust so they act as his backup. A major shoot out quickly ignites. Malia is worried enough about someone shooting her. She does not have time to save Argent’s actual backup from flying bullets. One of Argent’s “clients” throws a grenade so the threesome run, hide and duck. After making it out by the skin of their teeth, Scott and Malia bring Argent to where they found the bullet. While waiting for Argent, Malia tells Scott she is worried about him and they share their sob stories. Malia’s is worse. She was hunted by her dad! They look up and Argent has his gun pointed at them. They are afraid he is going to shoot them, but he is just determining the trajectory of the bullet to figure out who shot it from where. Argent concludes whoever left the bullet must not be a real hunter because a real hunter would know a silver bullet cannot kill a werewolf. It is just a myth.

Questionable pack member Theo (Cody Christian) is back! He is essentially homeless, living in his car, and refuses to call Scott. His companion in the car is a spider that bites him and gets under his skin – literally! Is Theo going to turn into Spider-Man?! Theo cuts the spider out and it poofs into black smoke. Back at the car, men knock on Theo’s window and start shooting. Either they shot Theo or each other…Is Theo dead?!
Best Lines:

  • Mason: Incredibly hot Brett, with the eight-pack abs? Liam: Pretty sure his name’s just Brett.
  • *crash* Mason: Was that Liam, Brett, or Corey? Girl: I think it was all of them.
  • Argent: If you knew anything about guns you’d know they aren’t loaded.
  • Argent: I had a guy on the inside. Malia: Who? Argent: You’re standing on him.
  • Argent: I guess I need a new password.
