Teen Wolf – Said the Spider to the Fly

Scott (Tyler Posey), Malia (Shelley Hennig) and Lydia (Holland Roden) are all grown up and preparing to leave Beacon Hills. Scott is trading in his part-time job at Deacon’s vet clinic for healing cats and dogs at his number one choice of college: UC Davis. Before moving away, he returns his assistant lacrosse coach whistle to Coach (Orny Adams), packs too much in his suitcase and hugs his mom (Melissa Ponzio) goodbye. He is worried about leaving her, but she reassures him she will be ok. Per Stiles’ orders he gently starts Stiles’ jeep Roscoe, which now belongs to him, and readies himself to say goodbye to Beacon Hills. Malia can’t wait one more second to say au revoir to Beacon Hills either! With her flight to Paris ready to go, she can’t leave fast enough! She will climb out a window to make sure she gets out of this town! Lydia is also moving 3,000 miles away from Beacon Hills to be safe and happy forever! Before leaving, she gives her mom (Susan Walters), who is the principal of Beacon Hills High, a list of every supernatural in Beacon Hills and tells her, “You know stuff. That means you have to do stuff…If you see something, say something.”

Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) is already at the FBI school in Quantico, Virginia for a six-month internship. (Dylan O’Brien is not even in the opening credits. He is just credited as a “special guest star.”) He is really excited to finally be there, at the freaking FBI! Before class, Stiles calls Scott and leaves a voicemail urging him to get out of Beacon Hills. He tells him, “Scott, whatever you’re doing right now just make sure you’re still getting out of Beacon Hills. I mean maybe you think you can’t leave, you know, like the whole thing falls apart if you’re not there, which I get, but you have to. I know you’re supposed to drive out tonight so if you don’t call me back just promise me you’re actually going. Just get in the jeep and go.” Stiles cares so much about his best friend! He just wants him to be safe and happy, without a bother or care in the world, far away from the drama of Beacon Hills like he is fortunate enough to be.

But good boy Scott can’t leave Beacon Hills just yet. Nor can Lydia. And, given the choice, neither can Malia. Lydia had a terrifying and gorgeous premonition of being tangled in spider webs and, amidst screams, heard a voice say, “You let it out. It was supposed to ride with the hunt forever.” By saving Stiles and bringing everyone back, they opened a door to another world. That is not the way it was supposed to happen and they let something out with them. Now, the supernatural universe is pissed and there is a big price to pay! But what didn’t ride the storm forever? What did they let out? Whatever it is will not stay hidden. It must be stopped and put back. Nothing else matters. But if the wild hunt couldn’t keep it, what can?

Lydia doesn’t want to tell her boyfriend, Stiles, about her “problem” because she already almost lost him last time. She doesn’t want to lose him again! If she ever lost him for real, she’d be devastated and go out of her freaking mind. So, as much as Stiles misses her and can’t wait to get home, she doesn’t want to call him back yet. No matter how upset he might be when he eventually finds out, she won’t.

Far, far away at Quantico, Stiles is still and will always be himself! In class, he doesn’t raise his hand. He just shouts out questions and answers! The teacher (Christopher T. Wood), unable to read his name (let alone pronounce it) doesn’t know what to call him to get him in line. And, when the teacher shows a video of wanted mass murderer Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin), Stiles spits out his water! Stiles will use the FBI motto “Loyalty. Courage. Integrity.” to protect Derek and, in turn, risk his future career.

With most of his circle leaving and focusing on their own lives, Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) is on his own. Even his girlfriend, Hayden (Victoria Moroles), moved away to protect her sister. He isn’t happy and, without Hayden, is stressing out. He can’t control his powers, loses a fist fight against a grown man-child and Kung Fu fights a hellhound (Casey Deidrick) on his own! He only has to survive Senior year with Mason (Khylin Rhambo) and Corey (Michael Johnston), who he fortunately still has, before he can move away himself.

Best Lines:

  • Coach: I can still dock your pay. Scott: I’m a volunteer.
  • Mason: We’re all going to different colleges eventually. Corey: I thought we were both applying to UCLA? Liam: You guys are going to the same college?
  • Coach: How am I supposed to tell them apart? They’re all wearing the same thing! Scott: They’ve got numbers on their jerseys, coach.
  • Mason: Wounds heal. People move. Things change. Liam: Yah, it still hurts though.
  • Malia: I need Paris. Lydia: Paris has been around for 2000 years. It’s not going anywhere.
