The Lashes – Get It

By  |

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) We play pop rock n’ roll music. We don’t really describe it past that because everything we love falls into the category of pop rock.

Q) Where do you get inspiration for your lyrics?

A) Our lyrics are either about girls that I am crushed out on, record label things and the life of being a rock n’ roll band.

Q) What message is your music trying to convey?

A) Our music is trying to convey the message that traumatic growth is something we have to take responsibility for and it starts in major markets with supplies. We need to really make sure that copy which has embargos is bad.

Q) Why is your new CD entitled “Get It?”

A) People will either get it or they won’t. They’ll either totally understand what we are talking about or they won’t get it and will end up talking about our haircuts or something.

Q) What is your favorite track on the album?

A) I would say that all of the tracks are my favorite because they are all like children.

Q) Why should listeners take the time to pick up your new CD?

A) People should pick it up because it’s going to be the soundtrack to their summer romance.

Q) For Halloween, you did a photo shoot for Details. What was that experience like?

A) That photo shoot was fun! We kind of liked standing around and getting clothes. When people have cameras, it makes it kind of worth something. It’s like we’re not doing it for no reason.

Q) How did the band get the name “The Lashes?”

A) It sounded really cool and we decided we could live with that.

Q) How did the group come together?

A) We were all friends first. Actually, a lot of us ended up working together. When I moved to Seattle, I met Eric when I got a job at the Levis store downtown because he was my boss. We used to hang out in the backroom together, listen to records and pretend to work. I met Jacob when we were working at a telemarketing place. He overheard me talking about having keyboards in our band. He asked me who was going to play them in the band and I told him I wasn’t sure yet. He said he’d play them in the band and he came to practice right then. Scotty and Nate are guys I know from back home in Spokane. They are friends of mine that became like brothers. Mike was dating a girl that I was a friend with in high school. He chose me over her, which is kind of heartbreaking. I guess that is the way it was supposed to go.

Q) Your album will be released on February 21st. How does the group plan to celebrate?

A) I’m freaking out! I don’t know what to do with myself! I don’t know what it’s like to put out a record! We’re buying pizzas for everybody and we’re doing an acoustic in-store performance at our favorite record store in Seattle. Then, we’re planning a huge show with our friends and have a crazy huge party!

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A) Thank you from the bottom of my heart because if it weren’t for the people who come out to the shows and buy our records, then I would probably be delivering pizza. I like playing rock n’ roll way more than I like delivering people.
