The Mick – The Snitch

Chip (Thomas Barbusca) is getting dressed in his school locker room with other students far older than him. He talks with another younger student about making varsity next year. The Senior team captain announces that he has a present for everyone; he takes his phone out and sends something to everyone else on the team. Chip and his friend check their phones to find that they were all just sent a sext of a girl from “another” school. Everyone cheers and puts their phones away when they see the principal walk in – all of the guys, but Chip who is still admiring the picture. The principal walks up behind Chip, sees his phone and he confiscates it. He escorts Chip to his office.

In the Pemberton mansion, Mackenzie (Kaitlin Olson) and Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) question Alba (Carla Jimenez) about how she hit a parked car. They start to argue about whose fault it was her or the guy who parked his car “like a maniac.” They continue to argue until Chip comes into the kitchen and hands Mackenzie a paper to sign. She asks what it is and Chip explains that he got into trouble because he was seen with a picture of a naked girl on his phone. Mackenzie and Sabrina are a little creeped out by this, but Chip says he has to go in front of the honor board and rat out who ever else got the picture. Sabrina is conveniently on the school’s honor board. Sabrina tell Mackenzie that the honor board is a group of students and teachers that handle those kinds of matters. Mackenzie thinks that it’s a board of narks and snitches. Mackenzie argues that doesn’t want to have to go with Chip in front of the honor board and tells the whole family that they are not snitches and rats. Mackenzie emphasizes it more when she tells a story about a friend who snitched and is now dead.

Alba takes Ben (Jack Stanton) out to go get some food when she pulls into a parking spot someone was waiting for. She ignores the guy who is yelling at her because she took his spot. She walks in to deli to get some samples and while she’s doing that Ben watches as the man she cut off keys her car. Alba runs over to the window and sees what has happened and asks Ben if he saw who keyed the car. Ben says he saw, but he won’t snitch because he doesn’t want to die.

Mackenzie is outside of Chip and Sabrina’s school sitting on the principal’s car. He walks up and asks her to get off. She slides down from the hood and leaves a huge dent. The principal seems less than pleased about this. Mackenzie tries to reason with him by saying he doesn’t have to make Chip into a snitch, but the principal seems uninterested and gets in his car and drives off.

Chip walks with his friend into the cafeteria when Sabrina runs up to them. Chip’s friend says hi to Sabrina, but she just stares him down until he leaves. Sabrina says that she knows how to get him out of trouble. Chip is more than happy to hear this until he hears the full plan. Sabrina tells Chip just rat out who ever sent the pic and then the honor board meeting will be canceled and everything will be ok. Chip explains that if he does this he’ll get beat up by the rest of the team. Just as he tells Sabrina this the Senior teammates call him over to their “cool” table. Chip reluctantly goes over and sits. They confront him about being questioned by the principal. Chip says it was worth it to see that picture. The Seniors decide to give him the nickname “beaver dog” (for literally no reason) and then invite Chip to hang with them at “the pit.”

Alba and Ben are back at home. Alba is slowly enjoying a slice of chocolate cake while Ben watches her in distress. Alba says all he has to do give up who keyed the car and he can have the cake. Ben stays silent so Alba goes to extreme measures and starts to tickle the answer out of Ben. Ben laughs and laughs until he starts to have an asthma attack and then Alba rushes over to get his inhaler. She is about to hand it to Ben when she makes a deal and says that he can have it if he talks. Ben finally agrees. After he catches his breath Ben tells Alba that the guy who keyed the car had a face and some hair and then drove away in his car. Alba is shocked that this was all he knew pushes the cake over to Ben and thinks of a new way to find out who keyed the car.

Sabrina comes home to find her room is a disaster. Confused, she looks around until Mackenzie walks in and says that she talked to the principal and that he said that it isn’t up to him what they do to Chip. It’s up to the honor board that Sabrina is on. Sabrina argues against that until Mackenzie holds up a flash drive that has all her entire hard drive on it. Mackenzie tells her she’ll show people what’s on it if she doesn’t help out Chip. Sabrina seems worried for all of one second until she grabs the flash drive out of Mackenzie’s hand. She points out that Mackenzie was going to snitch on her, but Mackenzie clarifies that’s actually extortion!

Down at the pit Chip meets up with all the Seniors. While he walks around he starts to get dirty looks from the other people there. Chip doesn’t seem to notice. Sabrina is also there. She walks over and asks what he is doing there. She tells him that those guys are just trying to save their own hides by being nice to him. The Senior guys come over and start talking to Chip. They let him know that if anyone gives him trouble just let them know. Chip says one of the other guys there did pick on him and he points them out. The seniors talk for a bit about what to do and decide on “monkey business.” Chip looks lost, until one of the guys squats low like a monkey and shuffles over to the guy Chip pointed out. The guy who is acting like a monkey goes over and hangs on the bully until he pushes him off. Chip, still kind of lost, watches another Senior asks why he shoved the monkey and he makes the bully apologize for it. He keeps apologizing until they ask Chip if he’s happy. Chip says it’s ok and they can stop.

The next day Chip is outside of an office pacing as he waits to go see the honor board. Mackenzie walks up and says that she’s ready to be his “lawyer” and she’s studied up on all the prep school movies she could find. This doesn’t comfort Chip. The two of them go inside and sit down in front of the board and a huge audience of other students. Mackenzie starts to pull out napkins with notes on them and Chip knows he’s going to lose. Sabrina starts to question Chip about his recent popularity, his relationship with the other lacrosse players and his new nickname. Mackenzie, not having any more of this, gets up and makes a scene by reciting movie lines to the honor board. She goes on for two minutes on a crazed confused rant until the principal adjourns the meeting because he says he’s completely lost. As Chip sits across from Sabrina, Sabrina leans over to get something when Chip notices a unicorn tattoo on her side. He then remembers that the picture of the naked girl had a unicorn on her as well. Chip has a horrible realization. He gets up and goes to throw up in a trash can off stage. Sabrina follows to see if he’s ok. Chip tells Sabrina that the picture was her. She turns white and her and Chip run back on stage to the principal. They turn to the crowd and point out the Seniors who sent the picture around and rat them out. Mackenzie looks stunned but gives up.

Alba and Ben are out in a field. Alba tells Ben to go and light it up. She hands Ben a lighter and he runs over to the car that had been keyed. Instead of getting the car fixed Alba has decided that the best way to hide what happened is to burn the car down. Ben runs over lights the car on fire and runs back. He and Alba watch as it burns down.

That night at the dinner table there is an awkward silence hanging over the table. Mackenzie asks what they all did today, but no one really speaks up. She points out the awkward energy in the room and goes back to drinking her beer.
