In the opening scene of the episode in the depths of the river, viewers get “The Originals’” version of This is Your Life with The Mikaelsons, Marcel Gerard as scenes of Marcel’s relationship with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) are replayed, starting with Klaus giving him the name Marcelles after he saved him as a boy from his abusive father. Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) rises from the river, now a Super Duper Powerful Immortal Vampire. And he’s off to put an end to the Mikaelsons!

Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah’s grieving over the trifecta deaths of Cami, Davina and Marcel finds them in bed after a night of comfort sex. Klaus holds his daughter saying “Everyone who has ever loved me has died, but I will do right by you my littlest wolf.”

Freya (Riley Voelkel) tells Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) that she has a strange feeling that the prophecy is far from being over. Meanwhile, Marcel comes to Davina’s burial place and tells Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) that the only reason he led The Mikaelsons into believing that he hadn’t taken the serum was because he wanted to see their reaction. But they acted in typical Mikaelson fashion, making it being all about themselves. Plus, Elijah even killed him. “So as far as I’m concerned whatever happens next, they’ve earned it,” asserts Marcel.

Elijah is asking for Klaus’ forgiveness again. But there is no time for that because to the brothers’ shock, in walks Marcel with a legion of vampires. He tells them that he had the deed to their property nullified so he could just walk in without being invited. Marcel also declines Klaus’ request for the two of them to go off somewhere alone to talk. To top things off, Freya is attacked and then poisoned by some of the vampires who are all part of Klaus’ sire line.

Marcel explains that he brought all the vampires Klaus sired so they can be there in person to see the “fall of the Mikaelsons.” When Kol tells Marcel that this isn’t what Davina would want, Marcel reminds that Kol is the reason Davina is dead. Kol moves in for the attack, but Marcel’s bites him! Then, it’s Elijah’s turn and Marcel bites him! This upset me as Elijah is my favorite character.

Hayley tells Freya she knows of one way that may stop all of this. So, Hayley brings home Rebekah (Claire Holt) who demands an explanation from Marcel. Freya, Klaus, Elijah and Kol go to Lucien’s penthouse to regroup and try to figure out a solution to their deadly problem.

Meanwhile, Rebekah demands an explanation from Marcel for his behavior. He tells her that her family needs to pay for everything they’ve done, but assures that he would never hurt her. Rebekah pleads with Marcel to cure her family. “There is no cure,” Marcel says. Rebekah comments that the Marcel she loved would never be judge, jury and executioner. She demands justice for her family. Okay, Marcel will give her that – Klaus will have to answer for his crimes in a trial.

Elijah and Klaus share a touching brother moment in which Elijah asks Klaus to take care of Hayley knowing that he is as good as dead. He also tells him not to hate Marcel for all of this. He sadly says, “This is not Marcel, this was me.” Klaus shows a moment of doubt in which he admits to his brother that he can’t do this without him. But Elijah knows Klaus’ strength. “They need you,” Elijah says before the brothers share a hug. Aw!

Kol is suffering from terrible pain and wants Freya to put him to sleep so he won’t feel it. Klaus tells Hayley to take care of Hope before going to face his accusers.

During the trial, Marcel points out that Klaus destroyed their lives when he turned them into vampires. But Klaus counters by saying that his actions were to strike fear for him so everyone knew that The Mikaelson family were a force to be reckoned with. Marcel snickers that it again comes back to Klaus and his family.

Rebekah asks to speak for her brother. She’s not condoning what Klaus has done, but understands it. “The strong fight to determine who is strongest. They all fight for power. Klaus’ instinct is to defend his blood. Would anyone here do any less?” Rebekah says. But Rebekah is under a powerful curse that causes her to go crazy so once Marcel starts talking about everything Klaus has done to her, Rebekah too turns on her brother. It’s time for the truth about Klaus Mikaelson. Something tells me that this is not going to turn out well for Klaus! Rebekah now acknowledges everything Klaus has done was because he is cruel and deserves what he gets for all the suffering he has caused others.

At Lucien’s penthouse, in a weakened state, Elijah tells Hayley that he wants her to be happy.

Now, it’s Klaus’ time to speak in his own defense. He tells Marcel that he’s responsible for Davina’s death because he should have warned her away from the Mikaelsons. As for all the “whiners” at the trial, they should consider themselves lucky that he turned them into vampires as the immortality he gave them was a better existence then they would have had otherwise.

It is decided that death is too good for Klaus after all he has done over the centuries. “This is for the boy I used to be, the one you once called your son,” Marcel says before he daggers Klaus with the blade that gives unimaginable agony – not death.

Later, Marcel kills the remaining members of the Strix and leaves the dead bodies at his gym. One of the vampires who survived attacks Detective Kinney (Jason Dohring). Vincent realizes that Marcel may not be much better for New Orleans than Klaus.

Viewers also learn that Rebekah’s madness was all part of Freya’s plan. Apparently, Freya performed a spell to link all The Mikaelsons to Klaus’ life force while Hayley works on cures for Marcel’s deadly bite, Freya’s poisoning and the curse that renders Rebekah crazy. The Mikaelson family bodies are loaded in coffins, which Hayley puts in a truck. Klaus left a letter for Hope which he says “You are the legacy this family has always desired. The promise we fought to protect, you are and always will be our hope.”

Meanwhile, Elijah, Kol, Rebekah and Freya’s consciousness is in a dream world Freya created where they can be together until Hayley finds a solution to bring them back. Klaus sacrificed himself to serve as anchor for his family, giving true meaning to The Mikaelsons motto “Always and Forever.”
